After West Bengal and Rajasthan,Jharkhand<\/u>became the third state in the country to pass a bill for preventing mob lynching incidents.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the state assembly passed the Jharkhand (Prevention of Violence and Mob Lynching) Bill of 2021. The bill was introduced on the penultimate day of the ongoing winter session and was passed within an hour without any major amendments and debates.
Chief ministerHemant Soren<\/u>said the bill was introduced to ensure an Environment<\/a> of harmony and peaceful existence among all communities in the state and punish the anti-social Elements<\/a> who attempt to disturb it.<\/p>\n

The draft bill proposes that in case of a lynching victims death, the guilty will be imprisoned for life and will have to pay a penalty of Rs 5 lakh (penalty can go up to Rs 25 lakh).
In case of minor injuries, the guilty will be imprisoned for three years with a maximum fine of Rs 3 lakh. In case of grievous injuries to the victim, the guilty will be punished with life imprisonment (or 10) years with a fine of up to Rs 5 lakh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
