The Uttarakhand government has withdrawn its decision of imposing a daily limit on the number of pilgrims visiting theChar Dham shrinesa day before the commencement of the annual yatra to the four shrines of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. The registration process, which began on February 21, saw over 15 lakh devotees signing up for the pilgrimage until April 20. The government had earlier imposed daily limits of 19,000 visitors for Badrinath, 16,000 for Kedarnath, 9,000 for Gangotri, and 5,500 for Yamunotri.<\/p>\n
This year’s Char Dham yatra has witnessed an overwhelming response with 15.1 lakh devotees registering for the pilgrimage.
