Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday said Women Empowerment through livelihood centres in Gauthans will also strengthen Chhattisgarh.
He said this while visiting the Kurud Assembly constituency in Dhamtari district. The visit began with an inspection of the Hanchalpur Gauthan.
A shed worth Rs 71.91 lakhs has been built as part of the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park scheme to ensure livelihood for people in rural areas. Women’s self-help groups are run various income-generating activities in the Gauthan.
The Gauthan has a unit for to produce paint from cow dung. The Chanchal Women’s Self-Help Group is operating it. So far, they have produced 1,200 liters of cow dung paint, of which 300 liters have been sold generating an income of Rs 67,500.
In addition, the women’s group has purchased 730.68 quintals of cow dung for organic manure production. This has resulted in an income of Rs 2.72 lakh for the group.
The Mahamaya Kisan Abhiruchi Women’s Self-Help Group has produced 35.24 quintals of vermicompost at the Hanchalpur Gauthan, leading to a profit of Rs 5,51,000.
In addition, mushroom cultivation, goat farming, farming, sale of eggs and fish farming are being carried out here, making women financially stronger.
