Prime MinisterNarendra Modiis likely to launch the Centre’s ‘Vibrant Village Programme’ (VVP) fromMana, the last Indian village on India-China border on October 21, during his proposed visit toUttarakhand.
The project — announced by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her Budget speech this year — aims to develop border villages with sparse Population and bolster facilities in these areas to check Migration.
The VVP is an important project for Uttarakhand as the Himalayan state an international border of 625km-350km with China and 275km with Nepal. Pithoragarh, Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts share an international border with China whereas Pithoragarh, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar share international boundaries with Nepal.
