Air Pollution during the winter months of November to January every year had led the authority to draw up the plan to set up an APCT, apart from measures like water sprinkling and imposing fines on construction sites.

The tower, built at a cost of Rs 4 crore by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), will suck in polluted air and the filters, installed at its base, will capture the particulate matter.

The tower also has an automatic pulse jet-type dust cleaning system to clean the PM 2.5 filter periodically at regular intervals.
