University of Hyderabad(UoH) has received funding of Rs 6 crore from the department of biotechnology (DBT) to take up research on plant metabolomics (study of small molecules) and proteomics (study of proteins) over a period of four years at Repository ofTomato Genomics Resources(RTGR).
Established in 2010, RTGR conducts advanced scientific research in the frontier areas of genomics, proteomics and metabolomics oftomatoin order to improve the nutrition and shelf-life of tomatoes. Given its scientific contributions, DBT recognised RTGR as a centre of excellence for genome engineering in tomato.
