The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed the chief medical officers (CMOs) of all the districts to visit every household to find and treat the tuberculosis patients under the Pradhan Mantri TB eradication programme. On the orders of the minister the department will initiate an active TB case finding campaign in six districts of the State.
Rawat said that the Health department is making a serious effort to make Uttarakhand free from TB by the year 2024. In the first phase, the campaign would be undertaken in Almora, Bageshwar, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar and Uttarkashi districts. Rawat said that the government of India has given the State a target to find 28,000 TB patients in the year 2022. He claimed that the State is performing excellently in the programme and is on the second position on the registration of Nikshay Mitras in the country.
