Tourism dept plans to launch river cruise, says minister

In a bid to add diversity to the existing tourism products and attract domestic tourists, the tourism department is planning to start river cruise and introduce houseboat accommodation in the state.

Tourism ministerVishvendra Singhsaid that for some time the foreign tourists are not going to come and our focus should be on attracting domestic travellers. We have monuments and palaces. But we need to create more activity-based tourism to attract domestic travellers.Rajasthanhas huge tourism potential and we have been able to realize only 20 per cent of it. That means we can do much better, said Singh. He said they had a meeting with the senior officials ofHeritage River Journeys, which currently owns and operates four luxury river cruise vessels across India.
