Seventy-two percent of the electorate voted on Thursday to elect three Zilla Panchayat and 27 Janpad members as well as fill posts of 152 Sarpanch and 330 Panch in Chhattisgarh.
The polling was by and large peaceful across the state.
State Election Commissioner Thakur Ram Singh said no untoward incident took place at any place. He patted the officers and employees for the successful conduct of the polls.
He said along with youth, elderly and differently-abled voters actively participated in the voting.
There were 4,37,282 voters for the three-tier Panchayat , out of which 3,04,450 exercised their franchise. The number of male voters was 1,55,039 and females 1,49,411.
