TheUttarakhand tourism departmentis planning to promote theJagannath templein Sald village of Uttarkashi district, a 12th Century shrine, at a height of 3,800 feet above the sea level, some 6km ahead of the main Uttarkashi town. The tourism department’s proposal would be forwarded to the state’s religious affairs ministry. The beautification will involve a small road, parking slot and other basic facilities.

“The recent visit of Odia actor Sabyasachi Mishra and his wife Archita at the temple created a buzz. Many people have started coming to the temple in the last few days. We plan to make good use of this new-found recognition of the temple and develop it as a major centre of religious tourism on a national level,” said Uttarkashi district tourism development officerJaspal Chauhan.
