TheTelanganagovernment has requested theKrishna River Management Board(KRMB) to restrain Andhra Pradesh government from diverting water from foreshore ofSrisailamreservoir through three projects – Muchumarri, link canal connecting Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi lift irrigation scheme at Malyala with KC Canal, escape channel fromBanakacherlacross regulator for feeding theKC canalayacut – to feed KC canal unless a proper account and allocation is given to them.

The government said all the three projects were illegal.

Telangana Irrigation department engineer-in-chief C Muralidhar said in his letter to chairman of KRMB on Thursday said as AP has been utilizing more water to this project than allocated 31.90 tmcft and diverting to outside the basin will adversely impact many Telangana irrigation projects and Srisailam depending projects likeNagarjuna Sagarand drinking water supply to Hyderabad city.
