TheTamil Nadugovernment on decided to provide 7.5% reservation for students of state government schools in professional courses, like engineering, agriculture, fisheries, veterinary, and law.

Since less number of government school students are getting admissions in professional courses, the DMK government soon after assuming charge, set up a commission under the chairmanship of retired judge D Murugesan on June 15 to assess and analyse the reasons and to recommend remedial measures to ensure due representation of government school students.

The government received a report from the commission recently. To implement the recommendation of the commission, it has been decided to introduce a bill in the upcoming session itself to provide 7.5% reservation to students of government schools in admission to professional courses like 7.5% quota for medical admission, said an official release.

The cabinet decided to present the revised budget for 2021-22 on August 13. It also decided to present a separate budget for Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture in the upcoming budget session itself.
