Telangana fares well in urban health infrastructure, but rural under strain

Despite its Network of sub-centres and primary Health centres (PHCs),Telanganahas among the least number of medical centres in rural areas.

The state stands 14th in the country, as per the latest report of the Centre. The report covers both states and union territories.

According to the report, presented by minister for health and family welfareMansukh Mandaviyain the Rajya Sabha, the state has 4,229 sub-centres, 573 PHCs and 28 community health centres (CHCs) in rural areas. In comparison,Uttar Pradeshhas the highest number of sub centres at 20,781 with 2,919 PHCs and 829 CHCs in rural areas. The report covered centres up to March 31, 2022.
