Telangana 10th state to withdraw general consent to CBI

Telangana has become the tenth state to withdraw general consent to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Its twomonth-old order was cited in court in the wake of the cashfor-MLA scandal in which BJP is demanding an investigation by the central agency.

Dismissing the charges, BJP functionaries moved the Telangana high court and requested a CBI inquiry. Under Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946, general consent of a state government is necessary for CBI to operate in that state.
