The Nadu urban EMPLOYMENT schemewould generate employment for the urbanpoorin 15 municipal corporations, including Chennai, seven municipalities and 37 town panchayats in the state.
The minister was speaking after inspecting the progress of the scheme in ward number 8 in K Abishekapuram zone of theTrichy Corporation.
The Rs 100crore Tamil Nadu urban employment scheme was one of the recommendations of a high-level committee headed by former RBI governor Dr C Rangarajan formed by the State Government to assess the economic impact of Covid-19 in the state. The scheme works on the line of MGNREGA in rural parts.
