Nadustood third in the country in terms of cases registered under theNarcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Recent data from the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) revealed that Uttar Pradesh topped the table in this aspect and is followed byPunjab.
Possession of drugs for personal use and consumption is higher in Uttar Pradesh with 4,963 cases, followed byKerala(4,582 cases), and Tamil Nadu (4,151 cases) in 2020.
Meanwhile,Gujarattopped the country in the number of cases registered for violating liquor, narcotic drugs and related rules with 2,43,135 cases, Tamil Nadu came second with 1,74,032 cases, followed by Madhya Pradesh (94,298) and Uttar Pradesh (90,216).
