Chief ministerM K Stalinon Tuesday launched the disbursal of 481 crore as compensation under the crop Insurance scheme to 4.43 lakh farmers who raised samba, thaladi and summer crops for the year 2021-22.
The chief minister gave away the cheques to 10 farmers at an event held in Chennai.
Prime Minister’s crop insurance scheme for the year 2021-22 was implemented in 37 districts in the state by the Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture“>Indian Agriculture Insurance Company and IFFCO-Tokio General Insurance Company Limited.
The timely remittance of 1,339 crore by the has facilitated the insurance companies to sanction 481 crore on time, the release added.
It may be noted that the Tamil Nadu government has so far remitted 2,057 crore as its share of insurance premium to 85,597 farmers who raised crops so far in around 63,331 acres during this 2022-23 year for the benefit of the farming community.
