Naveen announces Rs 50K crore loan for SHGs

Giving a big push to the Mission Shakti movement for womens Empowerment in the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday announced that (SHGs) will get interest free loans of Rs 50,000 crore during the next five years.

Mission Shakti has made a provision to provide interest subvention benefits of Rs 1,200 crore on the loans. He disbursed interest subvention benefits of Rs 125 crore for the first two quarters of 2022-23 to more than 2.5 lakh SHGs. This was done through technology platform directly to the SHG accounts.

The State Government has taken a step ahead by deciding to transform SHGs into small and medium enterprises (SMEs). In order to nurture Entrepreneurship among Women, during the Make-in-Odisha Conclave 2022, the chief minister had announced a revolving fund of Rs 1 crore for all district level federations, revolving fund of Rs 50 lakh for block level federations, office building with market complex for all gram panchayat level federations and establishment of micro and mini industrial parks in all 30 districts of the state.

The special package assistance has been launched to ensure an innovation-driven economy in the state as it targets to become a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

A key element of the special package for the startups in these select categories is 50% increase in grant to 15 lakh from the present 10 lakh through StartupTNs flagship grant initiative Tamil Nadu Startup Seed Grant Fund (TANSEED), Tamil Nadu government said in its order. The grant will be disbursed in three equal instalments of 5 lakh each, with 25% of total TANSEED assistance earmarked for women-led startups and 10% for rural impact startups, a State Government release said.

Satellite survey report not final document: Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the satellite survey report is not the final document on the buffer zone issue.

The only had good intention of completing the survey fast while deciding to go for satellite survey in the first phase as per the court order, Vijayan added.

Vijayan said that the expert committee report would be able to include details which have been left out in the first report. People in various local bodies will have the opportunity to include details of their properties by approaching the committee, he assured. The chief minister said that local bodies have been provided the opportunity to record such details.

31,000 Karnataka farmers yet to get loan waiver of Rs 167.5 crore

More than 31,000 farmers are still awaiting the benefits of the ‘s farm loan waiver scheme.

The highest number of such farmers are in Belagavi (3,676), followed by Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Tumakuru and Mandya.

These five districts together account for around 45% of all such farmers.On the other hand, the government said more than 17 lakh farmers have benefited from the scheme that has so far cost the exchequer nearly Rs 8,000 crore.Data from the state co-operation department shows that overall, the government had identified more than 17.4 lakh farmers across districts who were together scheduled to get loan waivers to the tune of Rs 8,155 crore.

Of these, more than 17 lakh farmers’ loans worth Rs 7,987.5 crore have already been waived

Telangana has 2.9 crore voters, 2.7 lakh names deleted: CEC

Chief electoral officer Vikas Raj on Thursday released final electoral list for 119 assembly constituences, pegging the total voters in the state at 2.99 crore.

Addressing reporters at his chambers here, Vikas Raj said that 6.8 lakh new voters have been added to the list while 2.7 lakh names have been deleted. The voters numbers drop from 3 crore in draft rolls announced in January 2022 owing to continous updation process that saw both additions and deletions for various reasons.

He said the number of young voters in the age group of 18-19 had gone up to 2.7 lakh. Also, a total of 2,808 people from primitive vulnerable tribal groups have been enrolled during the summary revision of electoral rolls. The third gender votes stood at 1,951.

Anganwadis to be revamped in three phases in AP with Rs 1500 cr funds

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said the will spend over Rs 1500 crore on modernisation of Anganwadis under the Nadu-Nedu and provide better amenities under three phases in AP.

Jagan Reddy directed the officials to constantly monitor the supply of milk and eggs to the children to ensure their quality. Formulate SOPs using new technology to ensure a foolproof and hassle-free distribution of food items, he said.

The CM said there should be a constant vigil even on the functioning of supervisors. Strict action should be taken against staff members indulging in malpractices in the distribution of milk and eggs.
Besides filling the existing 63 CDPO posts, the process of promotions should also be expedited.

Goa pollution control board to host sustainability summit in February

In a step towards facilitating transition to a carbon-neutral future, increasing circularity and inclusivity, theGoa State Pollution Control Board(GSPCB) will hold the first International Environment and Sustainability Summit Goa (IESSG).
The summit is scheduled from February 2-4 at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim, Goa. Minister for environment Bhupender Yadav is likely to inaugurate the summit.

GSPCB in PARTNERSHIP with Confederation of Indian (CII) is organising the summit, and National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) is a knowledge partner while Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is the Network partner for the event.

After record, Maharashtra’s sugar output set to drop by 6.5%

Sugar production inMaharashtrais set to decline by around 6.5 % in 2022-23 compared to previous year owing to excess rainfall in some parts that led to water-logging and a higher diversion to ethanol, officials said.

Maharashtra is the country’s top sugar producer. The state had produced 138 lakh tonne of sugar last year-the highest ever in its HISTORY. However, production in 2022-23 is expected to fall to 129 lakh tonne.

The changed estimate may impact the overall sugar production in the country but so far, the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) says it doesnt foresee a dip.

Sportspersons from the state held a demonstration seeking 3% job quota in all departments instead of only three sports, police and education. As a symbol of peace, they were holding roses in their hands.

The protesters said the Haryana Government had limited the eligible Sports person (ESP) quota of 3% in Group-C recruitment to only three departments. In this context, a letter was issued on behalf of the Chief Secretary on November 24 last year. As per the letter, the recruitment will be done through the CET and there will be no post in Group-C of sports quota. To eliminate the sports quota indirectly, it was limited only to three departments. They demanded that the 3% quota should be implemented in all departments.

Village committees set up to keep vigil on narcotics smuggling, drone incursions

After spurt in cases of contraband smuggling from across the International Border (IB), the government has constituted security committees in 62 villages situated near the Indo-Pak boundary in Fazilka district.

Notably, Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit had also urged the border area residents to support security agencies working against any effort to destabilise the country.
