First Bamboo – Dwelling Bat of India

Meghalaya State produced the first bamboo-dwelling bat of India with a sticky plate.

The disc-footed bat (Eudiscopus denticulus) was recorded in the Lailad area of Meghalaya near the Negkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary, about 1,000 kilometres west of the nearest known habitat in Myanmar.

Disc-footed bats have increased the number of bats in Meghalaya to 66, which is the highest of all states in India. It also helped increase the genera and species of the Indian bat .

70% of assembly poll winners in Kerala facing criminal cases: ADR

Among the winning candidates to the 15th legislative assembly, 71% havecriminal casesregistered against them while 27% have serious criminal charges. According to an analysis byAssociation for Democratic Reforms(ADR), an NGO, on the basis of affidavits submitted to Election Commision of India, 55% of winning candidates are crorepatis and their Average asset is Rs 3.12 crore.

Among the major parties, 44 (75%) of 59 winning candidates from CPM, 20 (95%) of 21 winning candidates fromINC, seven (41%) of 17 winners from CPI, 12 (86%) of 14 winners from IUML, three (60%) of five winning candidates fromKeralaCongress (M) and four (67%) of six independent winners have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavit.

Karnataka govt clears projects worth Rs 13k cr amid pandemic

The state high level clearance committee (SHLCC), headed by chief minister BS Yediyurappa, on Wednesday cleared projects worth Rs 13,175 crore amid the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prominent among the cleared projects include a major in the production of liquid Oxygen by Jindal Steel Works (JSW).

At a time when JSW is the single largest source of medical oxygen in the state, close to 440 MT at full capacity, an added facility is likely to benefit Karnataka in the long run and add to the capacity of the steel manufacturing major.

The project, sub-leased fromJSW Steel Ltd, will be executed by a subsidiary of its under the name of JSW Techno Projects Management limited at a cost of Rs 892 crore inTorangallu,Ballari.

Another major project which recieved clearance from the SHLCC was that of a single unit complex ofIndian Oil Corporationlimited (Iocl) in Chitradurga for storage and dispatch of petroleum on a 130 acre land parcel.

Them apart, the government also cleared a mega real estate construction of an integrated Township at Yelahanka on a 211 acres land parcel, which will be constructed by Rasasri tech park limited.

Telangana government to source testing kits from Tamil Nadu & Karnataka

Facing demand formore antigen kitsand need for uninterrupted supply of Oxygen, theTelangana governmenthas now turned its eyes towards two southern neighbours and abroad. Now, antigen kits will be sourced fromKarnatakaandTamil Nadu, whileTelanganawill import all oxygen supply-related equipment from foreign countries, as local companies are supplying to large number of states facing similar crisis.

The state at one point struggled to get kits as many of the antigen kit suppliers were based around Delhi, which is facing a huge outbreak of Covid-19 cases.

Andhra Pradesh government fast-tracks modernisation of Telugu Ganga project canals

In a move to provideirrigation waterto the entire ayucut, the has put the modernisation of Telugu Ganga canals in Rayalaseema districts on the fast track.

Farmers on 1.75 lakh acres in Kurnool, Kadapa, Nellore and Chittoor districts are expected to benefit after completion of lining works for the canals and upgradation of capacity of local tanks.

The government set its focus on the modernisation of the Telugu Ganga project soon after Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy took over the reins of the state.

Bicholim gets its first free dialysis facility, 10th such centre in state

Health minister Vishwajit Rane said on Tuesday that in a bid to provide better healthcare Services in the state, the government has taken the initiative to startdialysiscentres in different parts. As such, the tenth dialysis centre was made operational at the community health centre, in Bicholim, on Tuesday. Chief minister Pramod Sawant has fully supported the initiative, the health minister said.

The state has over 1,000 patients on dialysis who take the treatment at various centres. The government then reimburses them the cost of dialysis.

Maharashtra must aim to produce 3,000 MT medical oxygen per day: CM

Maharashtracannot afford to rely onothersfor medical Oxygen in the present Covid-19 situation and priority must be given to produce 3,000 metric tons of the vital gas per day in the state itself, chief ministerUddhav Thackeraysaid.

He was speaking after commissioning online an oxygen generation plant and inaugurating anRT-PCRlaboratory in Saibaba General Hospital in Shirdi in Ahmednagar.

The second wave of infections appears to be ebbing but the state must be prepared with Health as experts have predicted a third wave, the CM said.

Govt releases over Rs 9cr for Covid mgmt in districts

TheHaryana governmenthas sanctioned a total of Rs 9.40cr for all the districts to meet their expenditure on containment measures ofCovid-19, includingquarantine,sample collectionand screening, besides procurement of essential equipment. While Rs 7cr has been allocated for 14 districts, including Gurgaon, that are seeing the maximum Covid caseload, Rs 2cr will be for the remaining eight districts.

Haryanas financial commissioner (revenue and Disaster Management) Sanjeev Kaushal said the has been released from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and given to the deputy commissioners of the 22 districts.

The government claims that the fund has been released on the caseload of the districts Some 14 districts have got the maximum budgetary allocation of Rs 7 crore.
