Tripura benefited most from Act East policy: CM

Tripura chief ministerManik Saha on Monday said his state has benefited the most in the northeast from the Centres Act East policy.

The chief minister said Maitri Setu, which connectsTripurawith Chittagong port in Bangladesh and was inaugurated two years ago, will soon be fully operationalised and the Agartala-Akhaura rail link will be opened by the year-end.


Stating that the survey for constructing another RAILWAY line in Tripura is under way, he said of the target of constructing 888 km of national highway, 374.04 km have already been built.

Saha said as many as 2.74 lakh farmers, mostly marginal, have received Rs 553 crore under the PM Kisan scheme in the state

With completion of four years of the BJDs fifth term in office, the State Government approved 18 proposals including a Mo Ghara scheme.

The decision was taken at a State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Under the Mo Ghara scheme in the & Drinking Water Department, the Government will provide financial assistance to meet aspiration of the lower and lower middle-class households in rural areas.

The scheme will cover all such families which were left out in the existing housing schemes due to stringent eligibility criteria or due to insufficient allocation and also those families which had received housing assistance of smaller amount in the past and now want to upgrade or expand their houses.

Under the scheme, a beneficiary can avail a loan up to Rs 3 lakh, which can be repaid in 10 years excluding a 1-year moratorium period in easy installments. They can opt for one of the four slabs of the loan amount — Rs 1 lakh, Rs 1.5 lakh, Rs 2 lakh and Rs 3 lakh.

The Government may bear the expenses of Rs 2,150 crore for approximate 4 lakh beneficiaries (1 lakh from each loan slab) over a period of two years for the scheme.

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin asks Komatsu to expand its Oragadam plant

Chief ministerM K Stalin urged Japanese corporation Komatsu to expand its plant in Oragadam and invited its representatives to participate in the global investors meet (GIM) to be held inTamil Naduin January next year.
As part of his nine-day business tour,Stalinvisited the Komatsu plant in Osaka, Japan, on Friday and witnessed the manufacturing processes. He then interacted with the representatives of the company and asked them to expand their Oragadam plant, which was inaugurated by Stalin himself in 2007. The company representatives informed Stalin that they would undertake studies and then plan for the expansion.

Komatsu is involved in the manufacture of equipment for construction, mining, Forestry, and heavy industries. The company executives led byTakayuki Furukoshiand Go Kamada explained to Stalin, through a power-point presentation, about the functioning of the plant and their equipment meeting international standards. Finally, Stalin invited them for GIM.

Anganwadi-ASHA workers, HMs told to notify births & deaths

Government school headmasters (HM),anganwadiworkers and accredited social Health activists (ASHA) will now have to notify births and deaths in their jurisdiction. Local self-government department (LSGD) has published an extraordinary gazette notification regarding the same. LSGD cited a Supreme Court judgment that had directed all states/UTs on the same.

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (ii) of sub-section (1) of section 10 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 (Central Act 18 of 1969) the Government ofKeralahereby specify ASHA, anganwadi workers and headmasters of government schools to notify every birth or death or both at which he or she attended or was present or which occurred in the area under their jurisdiction to the registrar within the time limit prescribed under the Kerala Registration of Births and Deaths Rules, 1999.

Karnataka portfolios: Siddaramaiah keeps Finance, Shivakumar gets Irrigation, Bengaluru development

Karnatakachief minister Siddaramaiah has allocated portfolios to ministers in his Cabinet, keeping the Finance department with himself while assigning theIrrigationand Bengaluru City Development departments to his deputyDK Shivakumar.

Siddaramaiah took the oath of office with Shivakumar and eight ministers on May 20. He subsequently expanded the Cabinet to its full strength by inducting 24 new ministers on Saturday after rounds of discussions with the Congress’ central Leadership.

G Parameshwara, who has previously handled the Home department, has once again been allocated the portfolio, MB Patil is the new Large and Medium Industries minister while KJ Geroge has been given theEnergy departmentportfolio, the Karnataka government announced in a notification released late.

Apart from the Finance department, the chief minister, who has presented 13 state budgets, has kept Cabinet Affairs, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Intelligence, Information, IT and BT, Development and all unallocated portfolios.

Centre set to procure more parboiled rice

The Centre has approved procurement of another 6.80 lakh metric tonnes of fortified parboiled rice. This is in addition to 13.73 LMT that has already been approved for procurement forrabiseasons 2021-22 and 2022-23.

Women have been one of the major beneficiaries of the welfare schemes, thanks to direct benefit transfer and grant of house site pattas in the name of the woman of the household. The new Industrial Policy, summits and initiatives of the government have seen a steady flow of commitments by big ticket companies, who have shown interest to invest in green energy, Infrastructure, service sector and port-based economy, among others.

The state has so far spent about 3 lakh crore under DBT and non-DBT schemes. Over 2.11 lakh crore were transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries during the last four years under various schemes. Rythu Bharosa Kendras, which dispense all the needs of farmers, YSR clinics and family doctor concept, and English medium schools have changed the rural landscape across the state.

Anganwadis must register with edu dir

In case of preparatory, middle, and secondary stage, we will start implementation from 2024 from Classes III, VI, and IX, and will take it forward phasewise with Classes IV, V, and X from 2025. But at the foundational level, though we are starting with children aged three, we may implement it in more than one class or all classes up to Class II from 2024, if we feel ready,” said Lolayekar.

He said that May 31, 2025, will be the last date for all pre-primary schools in Goa to get approval to operate from the directorate of Education. This will also be the deadline for pre-primary schools to meet the expected infrastructural requirements.

There are around 3,000 such schools in Goa, of which around 1,500 are anganwadis run by the directorate of Women and child development. Fifty are attached to government schools and around 1,500 are private pre-primary schools.

He said that the committee is expected to give its report within three months, based on which the work on the state-specific syllabus will begin.
He also said that as many pre-primary schools are yet to register on the directorate of education’s online portal, the date will be extended further (from the present deadline of June 15).

In state, 3k+ socs generate 52MW solar power in grid

Thestate solar rooftop schemehas helped 3,026 housing societies acrossMaharashtragenerate 52MW of electricity in the grid, and saved them lakhs of rupees in power bills.

“We appeal to more housing societies to install rooftop solar power generation projects,”MSEDCLmanaging directorVijay Singhalsaid on Monday. He added that the electricity generated by rooftop solar projects in housing societies was used for operating lifts, water pumps and lighting staircases and parking areas. “If excess power is generated, it is passed on to the grid to MSEDCL and recorded through net metering,” Singhal explained. “In lieu of the electricity supplied to the grid, MSEDCL provides a reduction in the Society‘s monthly electricity bill.”

As an example, Singhal cited the case of a housing society in Thane which installed a 90 kilowatt solar power plant and the electricity bill of Rs 1.5 lakh was reduced to Rs 71,000.

He stressed the need for quality research in educational institutions to ensure national development. Recognising the prevalent gap that has left over three crore jobs vacant across the country, Dattatreya emphasised on the responsibility of educational institutions to bridge this gap by equipping students with practical skills for EMPLOYMENT and holistic development.
