Weaver Services and Design Resource Center to be set up in Kullu

Union Minister for Commerce, and Textiles Piyush Goyal announced to set up a Weaver Services and Design Resource Center in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh.

This centre will help in encouraging the attractive handicraft products of the state and provide a better platform to export these products at the international market.

The Minister announced this while addressing at an interaction programme with handicrafts and handloom artisans.

Programme was organized under Seva & Samarpan Abhiyan to commemorate the golden jubilee year of statehood of Himachal Pradesh on September 27, 2021.

Himachal Pradesh has the tremendous talent and potential with magical hands that weaves beautiful art products. Thus, there is a need to work proactively by State & Central Ministries in order to bring these products into the international market to get more befits. More attention should be paid on modernizing the design, packaging, quality and Marketing in order to provide weavers a better price for their products at international market.

Caravan tourism to start in Uttarakhand

Tourists inUttarakhandcan soon enjoy caravan tourism, which tourism ministerSatpal Maharajsaid would give one the freedom to go anywhere by road, while maintaining social distancing.

Maharaj said the idea was to let people enjoy luxury travel with friends and family and camp at lesser-known locations while having all facilities of a Home. The booking format and charges will soon be announced by the department.

The tourism minister said the caravan project would also open up opportunities for self-EMPLOYMENT for locals. A Caravan Investor Promotion Cell has been created by thetourism department, through which locals can purchase a caravan.

This opportunity will be made available under theMSME ministryand the tourism department. For this, the government is also offering fixed grants.

The Centre has sanctioned amedical devicepark in Uttar Pradesh, which is likely to draw an initial investment of Rs 15,000 crore. One among the four parks approved by the Centre, it will be set up at Sector 28 in Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area of Noida.Industrial development ministerSatish Mahanasaid, the Centre had received proposals from 14 states, but has given an in-principle approval to four, including UP,Himachal Pradesh,Madhya PradeshandTamil Nadu.

The park will be coming up on 350acre and land for the project has already been acquired byYEIDA. In phase 1, we are expecting investments of at least Rs 15,000 crore. Several companies have approached the government with proposals and development work for the project will kick off soon.

In Jharkhand schools, more girls consume tobacco than boys

Girl students in the age group of 13-15 are consuming more smokelesstobaccoin schools private and government — than boys in the same age group in Jharkhand, according to the Global Youth Tobacco Survey conducted by International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai

According to the survey, which was released by state Health minister Banna Gupta on Monday, 7.5% of the students out of a sample size of 4,010 in the age group of 13-15 use smokeless tobacco. Among the 7.5% students, 8.9% are girls while 6% are boys. The survey was conducted in 32 schools.

Expressing concern over the increased usage of tobacco products among girl students, Gupta said that the menace can be reduced if the Centre brought stringent provisions in COTPA Act along the lines of the one in Jharkhand so that the younger generations can be away from these products. Strict action against violators of COTPA Act would be taken and it will not just apply to small shopkeepers but also to the manufacturers, he added.

The Chhattisgarh government has built more than 30.6 lakh structures in drains and rivulets of forest areas under the Narva Vikas Yojana.

Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar said the construction has been done for water conservation in the forest regions under Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA). They will treat about 12.69 lakh hectares of land.

The Centre gives financial assistance to states under CAMPA to promote afforestation and regeneration activities as a way of compensating for forest land diverted to non-forest uses, the Minister said.

For 2019-20, water conservation works worth Rs 160.95 crores were done and 1,829 km of drains were treated. Around 4.84 hectares of land would benefit from this, he said.

Similarly, for 2020-21, construction works for water conservation is going on. This will cover 4,160 km of drains.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will dedicate construction works worth 264 crores and perform online bhumi-pujan on the occasion of completion of 20 years of Jan Kalyan and Suraj Yojana to improve school education in the State.

Chouhan will dedicate and perform bhumi-pujan of 45 newly constructed buildings of School Education Department and 71 newly constructed buildings of Tribal Affairs Department at Minto Hall, Bhopal on Tuesday at 6.30 PM. Tribal Affairs and Scheduled Castes Welfare Minister Meena Singh, Public Works and Cottage and Village Industries Minister Gopal Bhargava and Minister of State for School Education (Independent Charge) and General Administration Inder Singh Parmar will also be present on the occasion.

Union micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) minister Narayan Rane said on Monday that the EMPLOYMENT opportunities in theMSME sectoris set to increase inGujarat. He said that theMSMEministry is making efforts to double the employment opportunities in the sector within the next few years.

In Gujarat, the ministry of MSME has sanctioned two SFURTI clusters with a project outlay of Rs 4.72 crores Samavedana Coir Cluster and Tarapur Coir Cluster.

Rajasthan govt forms 392 clusters to promote tribal trade skills

The state tribal development department has formed over 392 clusters with every cluster consisting of 300 Women in the notified tribal areas under the Centres ambitious scheme of Van Dhan Vikas Yojana. The scheme is to promote entrepreneurial skills among tribal women in the state.

The target given to the state was to form 479 clusters which are called Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) and are eligible to receive a low-interest loan of Rs 15 lakh to start their own enterprise or start-up.

Five districtsUdaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh and Chittorgarh are covered under the scheme providing livelihood opportunities, skill training, marketplace based on forest and its produce. It has helped over 57,000 tribals in the five districts by providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Under the terms of The of products (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999, Nagaland’s sweet cucumber was granted a geographical identification (GI) tag.

The cucumber is one of the significant vital crops within the Northeast region. Nagaland has the 5th-highest farming of this fruit area-wise and ranks 3rd in production.

Naga cucumber is distinguished for its sweetness and unique green colour. It’s rich in potassium and has low calories.

The GI tag is a crucial sign used on products with a selected geographical origin and reputation. It denotes the authenticity of not only the merchandise but the tactic during which it had been produced.

The GI tag is supposed to guard the truly unique traditions of communities against appropriating large industries and thus allow these regions economic prosperity by manufacturing, producing, and Marketing their lore.
