Addressing the business tycoons here during the inaugural session of the fifth Progressive Punjab Investors Summit, CM welcomed pravasis and said that Punjab is the most favourable destination across the country and no stone will be left unturned to facilitate them. He envisioned a strong association between the State Government and industrialists to make Punjab an industrial hub in the country.

He envisioned that this policy will provide a roadmap for Infrastructure development, such as industrial parks, Airports, and Ports, which will further facilitate the movement of goods and people and enhance the state’s connectivity to global markets. Bhagwant Mann said that the state Government is developing Integrated Industrial Township adding that it taken a major decision to build 20 Rural Industrial Clusters and 15 industrial parks.

The Chief Minister said that rather than waiting for investments in the state, he has adopted a door-to-door policy to approach entrepreneurs for investing in state. He said Punjab has received more than Rs 40,000 Crores worth of investments since March 2022 thereby generating around 2.50 lakh EMPLOYMENT opportunities. He said that these investments include those by major companies like Tata Steel, Nestle, Freudenberg, Cargill, Hindustan Unilever, Sanathan Textiles and others that have come to state.

36% rain deficit, Himachal Pradesh readies for looming water scarcity

The state witnessed an overall rain deficiency of 36 per cent from January 1 to February 27. The most affected districts are Solan (67 per cent deficient rain), Mandi (60 per cent), Bilaspur (53 per cent) and Hamirpur (45 per cent). The maximum crop loss due to dry weather was reported from Solan (Rs 36 crore). The overall crop loss has been pegged at Rs 75 crore till January 10, said an official of the Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture Department.

To mitigate the effects of the dry spell, Saxena has directed the Jal Shakti Department to complete work on 12 water schemes, which are nearing completion, in a month.

Uttarakhand police to learn Tamil, Telugu to help pilgrims from south

For the upcomingChar Dham yatra– scheduled to commence on April 22 –Uttarakhandpolice will train personnel of their tourist wing in south Indian languages, especially and Telugu. This, they said, is aimed at facilitating “a smooth trip for pilgrims coming from the southern states, helping them overcome the language barrier”.

In the previous Char Dham yatras, it was seen that some pilgrims from the southern states faced problems because they couldn’t understand Hindi or English but only their native south Indian language. To add to their troubles, cops of the tourist Police wing failed to understand their language. To solve this problem to some extent, this time it has been decided to train the tourist police personnel in the basics of Tamil and Telugu.

Trade ties between UP, Italy to deepen, says Liberatori

The decades-old economic relations between UP and Italy will not only deepen but will go forward at the speed of a bullet train, said Italian Embassy’s Trade Commissioner Alessandro Liberatori on Saturday at the Italy Partner Country Session at UP Global Investors Summit-2023.

Citing the similarity in trade synergy between Uttar Pradesh and Italy, he said that there were unlimited possibilities of trade between the two. With the new policy brought by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to set up industries in UP, Uttar Pradesh will emerge as a new hub of and Italian industries will play an important role in this, Liberatori said.

The Italian embassy’s trade commissioner said that Italy would also help Uttar Pradesh to become a circular economy as Italy recycles more than 79 per cent of its urban waste. Not only this, UNESCO will play a leading role in preserving the sites and world heritage regions.On the other hand, by promoting Space Technology, leather processing in the state, it will help UP to be recognised in the global market, he said.

The appointedAjay KumarSingh as the new director general of Police (DGP), ending the prevailing suspense of a headless police force after the retirement of the outgoing incumbent Neeraj Sinha last week.
The state Home, prison and Disaster Management department issued a notification of transferring Singh, who was serving as the chairman-cum-managing director of theJharkhand PoliceHousing Corporation Limited with the additional charge of the director general of the anti-Corruption bureau, as the new DGP.

Singh, an Ips officer of the 1989 batch, was among the three officers approved by the Union Public Service Commission for the post.

Number of obese kids on rise in Bihar: Survey

Junk foods and change in life-style have led to an increase in the number of obese children across the globe. Even inBihar, the Percentage of obese children has almost doubled. As per the data of national family Health survey (NFHS-4), only 1.2% of children below five years of age were found obese in the state, but this has now doubled as per the NFHS-5 survey, with 2.4% children being obese.
City-based paediatricians too pointed out at the huge increase in the number of overweight children in the state and cautioned about arming health issues which these children may face as they grow.

Youth gets admitted to sports academy on CMs initiative

Ramnarayan Shrivas, a student of a hamlet in Korba district, got admission to a Sports academy in Bilaspur on the initiative of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

He can achieve his dream of becoming a good athlete after completing his training.

Shrivas of Bastipara Baniya village had a special interest in athletics. In school, he stood first in 800 meters race and second in 1,500 meters race. But due to a lack of proper training, he could not make it to the state-level competitions.

During the Bhent-Mulaqat programme of the Chief Minister in village Pipariya, Shrivas interacted with Baghel. Baghel promised him that he would be recommended to get admission into the Bahtarai Sports Academy in Bilaspur.

Spending point to MPs infra boost

The economic survey report presented in the MP assembly says that the figures of revenue and fiscal expenditure on development clearly indicate the priority of the State Government.

It further said that from the year 2018-19 to 2021-22, financial help for water and cleanliness has increased 142% and 35% in the Energy sector. The state has properly adjusted its fiscal expenditure to its gross state domestic product (GSDP). In the last 5 years (from 2017-18 to 2021-22), it has on-an-Average invested 4.8% of GSDP on projects entailing fiscal expenditure. The state has spent 15.08% on Irrigation, 13.68% on water and sewage, 9.6% on roads, 8.07% on rural development and 5.78% on Education.
