Punjab targets to increase area under shrimp culture to 5000 acres in five years

To further promote pisciculture in the state, Punjab Government has decided to increase area under profitable agri-allied occupation, shrimp culture, to 5,000 acres over next five years.

Bhullar said that for the development of shrimp culture, a dedicated Demonstration Farm-cum-Training Center is being run at Ena Khera village in Sri Muktsar Sahib district, where free training and -water testing facilities are being provided to shrimp farmers.

He said that special emphasis is being laid to develop for fish farming and increase fish production in the state. State Government is supplying good quality fish seed to farmers at subsidized rates from government fish seed farms. The construction work of new government fish seed farm is underway at Village Killianwali, District Fazilka, which will soon be completed and dedicated to the people.

Anti-conversion amendment Bill gets Himachal Governor’s nod

Governor RV Arlekar has given approval to the Himachal Pradesh Freedom of Religions (Amendment) Bill, 2022 and nine other Bills. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu gave this information in the House on the second day of the Winter Session here today. These Bills were passed during the tenure of the previous BJP government.

According to the HP Freedom of Religions (Amendment) Bill, 2022, the definition of mass conversion will now mean the conversion of two or more persons at the same time. Under Section 7 of the Act, any person, who converts to another religion, shall not take any benefit of his parent religion or caste after conversion. If a person gives a false declaration and takes the benefit of caste or religion after conversion, he or she shall be liable for imprisonment of not less than two years, which can be extended up to five years, and a fine up to Rs 1 lakh.

The amendment also states that anyone found involved in mass conversion in contravention of the provisions of the Act shall be liable for five to 10 years of imprisonment. If the offence is committed for the second time, the minimum imprisonment term shall be seven years, extendable up to 10 years and a fine up to Rs 1 lakh. Other Bills that were tabled in the House include the Himachal Pradesh Appropriation (Number 3) Bill, 2022. It provides authorisation of Rs 474 crore out of the consolidated fund of Himachal Pradesh to meet certain expenditure of financial year 2013-14.

The HP (Amendment) Bill 2021 provides for the appointment of a judge as Lokayukta. Earlier, only the High Court Chief Justice was eligible for the post.

The Himachal Pradesh Ground Water (Regulation and Control of Development and Management) Amendment Bill aims to regulate the use of underground water. It has a provision of five years of imprisonment for the violation of provisions.

The Himachal Pradesh Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (Amendment) Bill 2022 provides that the Fiscal Deficit in the state Budget for financial year 2020-21 can exceed by 3 per cent to 4 per cent of the state GDP.

No green nod for Sukhatal development, Uttarakhand high court told

The HC, which had issued notices to the SEIAA and state wetlands management authority during the last hearing, has again sent a notice to the latter. During the last hearing, the court had ordered to stop all construction on Sukhatal lake bed and the stay is still in effect.

UP govt to table its largest ever budget in Feb

The Uttar Pradesh government is likely to present the largest ever annual budget of over Rs 7 lakh crore for the next fiscal 2023-24.

The budget is likely to be tabled in the state assembly in February after the UP Global Investors Summit.

The Yogi Adityanath government 2.0 in May last year had presented its maiden annual budget for 2022-23 of more than Rs 6.15 lakh crore.

The government in December had obtained the approval of the legislature for the supplementary grants of Rs 33,769 crore.

The annual budget for 2022-23 was 10 per cent higher than the annual budget of 2021-22. The budget size of 2021-22 was of Rs5.5 lakh crore and it was presented in February 2021.

The state Finance department has started the process of budget preparation and all the departments have been asked to submit the detailed proposals at the earliest. The Finance department had earlier asked the departments to submit the proposals by the end of November.

The focus of the Finance department is on the new schemes and projects to be taken up in next fiscal 2023-24. The new projects are classified as Schedule of New Demands in the state budget. The new projects and schemes will be included ensuring their efficiency, viability and their actual contribution to gross state domestic product (GSDP).

On the occasion of completion of three years of JMM/ Congress alliance government, Chief Minister Hemant Soren transferred amount of various schemes among the farmers, girls and students of the state directly in their accounts. Chief Minister Drought Relief Scheme compensation amount was sent to the farmers of the drought affected blocks of the state.

In the first phase of this scheme, Rs 2,32,36,85,000 was sent through DBT in the bank accounts of 6,63,910 beneficiary farmers. Similarly, under the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana, a girl child studying in class 8 and 9 is given Rs 2,500, a girl child studying in class 10, 11 and 12 is given Rs 5,000 and a girl child aged 18-19 years is given a one-time grant of Rs 20,000. Raj to start use of FASTag on 8 more highways soon

The is planning to start the use ofFASTagon eight more state highways soon. Earlier, FASTag was launched on a pilot basis at toll plazas on two state highways Jaipur-Bhilwara highway and Sikar-Jhunjhunu-Luharu road. GST collections in December up by 15 percent to Rs 1.49 lakh cr

According to a government announcement, Indias goods and Services tax receipts increased 15% year over year in December to Rs 1.49 lakh crore ($18.07 billion), suggesting robust economic activity throughout the holiday season. In November, revenue from goods and services taxes totaled Rs. 1.46 lakh crore.

The total amount of GST revenue collected in December 2022 was Rs 1,49,507 crore, of which the CGST portion was Rs 26,711 crore, the SGST portion was Rs 33,357 crore, the IGST portion was Rs 78,434 crore (including Rs 40,263 crore from the collection of GST on goods imported), and the Cess portion was Rs 11,005 crore (including Rs 850 crore collected on import of goods).

The government made a regular settlement of Rs 36,669 crore to CGST and Rs 31,094 crore to SGST from IGST.
