Haryana- Israel Agreement on Water Management

Recently, Israel and Haryana government signed a joint declaration in capacity building and integrated Resources“>Water Resources management.

The joint declaration is a significant milestone as India and Israel are celebrating 30 years of full diplomatic relations.

Water security has always been an important pillar of the bilateral relations.

Under the agreement, Israel will share its most advanced and cutting-edge water technologies, expertise and know-how with the government of Haryana.

Israel will work closely with all of its partners in India, in order to continue enhancing the strategic relations between both the countries.

Through the joint declaration, Israel and government of Haryana expressed their willingness to strengthen existing relations in water management sector, improve public Health in the region and preserve water resources in public water areas in Haryana.

Agri sector in Punjab projected to record drop in growth rate

Despite being least impacted by the Covid-19 lockdown, the Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture and allied sector inPunjabis projected to record a more than two-time drop in Growth rate, according toPunjab Economic Surveytabled in the state assembly.

The advance estimates shared in the survey show that agriculture one of the predominant sectors of the states economy is expected to grow by 1.4 % in 2021-22, after recording a growth of 3.1% in the previous financial year 2020-21. The sector grew at 1.81% in 2019-20, indicating uneven growth in recent years against the 2.2% Average growth rate registered between 2012-13 and 2018-19.

The crop husbandry sector is likely to have the most noticeable decline asGVAis expected to post a negative growth rate of -0.8%, against 2.4% in 2020-21. The fall in growth rate is expected to lead to a fall in the sectors contribution to overall gross state value added (GSVA), which is likely to slip from 30.7% in 2020-21 to 29.1% in 2021-22. In spite of the dip, agriculture and allied activities will continue to be the second highest contributor to Punjabs overall value added, after the service sector.

The survey has attributed the slowdown in the sector to production and productivity of rice and wheat reaching saturation level. Stress has been laid on diversifying crops and with special focus on pulses and oilseeds, which can help in saving Rs 621.33 crore of import value for pulses and Rs 5,221.60 crore for oilseeds by 2027.

Fallow and cultivable land has also come down from 6% and 5% of reporting area in 1960-61 to 2% and 0% in 2020-21, respectively. Not only this, land not available for cultivation has also decreased from 13% to 10 % between 1960-61 and 2020-21, pointing at limited scope for any expansion in the area under cultivation.

Unmesh: Himachal Pradesh International literary festival

A three-day international literary festival called Unmesh was held at Gaiety Theatre in Shimla. It was officially started, on June 16, 2022; by Union Minister of State for Culture, Arjun Ram Mehjawal.

Unmesh Festival is bringing together around 425 writers, poets, critics, translators, and notable figures from 15 countries, representing more than 60 languages.

During the festival, more than 1,000 books relevant to the civil rights movement have been put on display.

Unmesh is a celebration of expression. This festival is Indias largest international literary festival till date.

The Unmesh Festival is being organised by Union Ministry of Culture and , in association with the Department of Art and Culture of Himachal Pradesh government. It is being organised as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Economic survey 2021-22 estimates increase of nearly 6% in growth rate

TheUttarakhandgovernment tabled the Economic Survey 2021-22 report in the state assembly on Friday. According to the provisional estimate for Growth rate in 2020-21, an increase of – 4.42 per cent has been estimated; while it is estimated to increase by 6.13 per cent in 2021-22.

In 2020-21, the state’s Gross Domestic Product has been estimated at Rs 2,34,660 crore at the prevailing prices of the provisional estimates. In comparison, it has been estimated to be Rs 2,53,832 crore in 2021-22. On the other hand, the per capita income (provisional) of the state in 2020-21 is estimated at Rs 1,82,698, and at Rs 1,96,282 in 2021-22. Gross Domestic Product (provisional) at constant prices (2011-12) has been estimated at Rs 1,78,912 crore in 2020-21, which has been estimated to increase to Rs 1,89,882 crore in 2021-22, which is 6.13 per cent of that of the previous year. Analysing the growth rate of the states GDP in 2021-22, lower growth rates have been seen in construction (11.61 per cent), transportation, storage, Communication and broadcasting Services (11.60 per cent), real estate, housing ownership and commercial services (10.50 per cent), other sectors (10.13 per cent), the financial sector (4 per cent) and electricity, gas, water and other utility services (2.98 per cent).

U.P: Pilibhit Tiger Protection Foundation

Uttar Pradesh Government decided to give incentives for setting units in first medical device park of states.

This unit has been proposed on 350-acre of land in Sector 28 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

Government also decided to implement Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Kisan Samridhi Yojana in state till 2026-27.

The units will be set up in park, for which government would provide incentives in terms of capital interest subsidy, relaxation in SGST, freight incentives, patent filing fee, air cargo handling charge, stamp duty exemption, quality certification land lease rate, and Marketing assistance, etc.

Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is located in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh. In 2014, it was notified as a tiger reserve. The reserve is a part of Terai Arc Landscape in upper Gangetic Plain along India-Nepal border. It is characterized by sal forests, swamp maintained by periodic flooding from rivers and tall grasslands. The Sharda Sagar Dam, extends to a length of 22 km, is located on the boundary of this reserve.

State signs MoU with AAI

The on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) withAirports Authority of India(AAI) for transferring 303.62 acres of land for expansion ofBirsa Munda International Airport.

The MoU was signed by deputy secretary of state civil aviation departmentAkhilesh Kumar SinhaandBirsa Munda Internationalairport directorK L Agarwal. As per MoU, the state will transfer 301.12 acres of land to the AAI in the fPhase I of the city airport expansion and around 2.5 acres in the second phase.

Bihar govt to launch clean air action plan soon

With a view to protecting the people ofBiharfrom the Health hazards of ever-rising Air Pollution, the is likely to launch a state-levelclean air action planwith the technical support from theWorld Bank. A detailed road map for the implementation of Bihar Clean Air Action Plan is in progress.

The Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB)s chairmanAshok Kumar Ghoshpointed out that one round of discussion with the World Bank team on this plan has already been held and the team is likely to finalise this plan soon. The Planning Commission has also sanctioned funds for the provision of clean air to the people of the state.

The state-level clean air action plan would be multi-spectral in nature, envisaging medium to long-term targets for cleaning the polluted air. The entire Indo-Gangetic plain has been marked as an area of increased air pollution due to higher concentration of PM2.5 matter in the Atmosphere.

1% state population suffers from genetic blood disorder sickle cell

One per cent of the Population ofChhattisgarhis suffering fromsickle cell, a genetic blood disorder. All the community Health centers, district hospitals, and medical college hospitals in the state have the facility of free tests, medication, and consultations.

Sicklecell anemic patients are also provided free blood whenever required from licensed blood banks. The state Health Department has recently decided to conduct a sickle cell test for all pregnant Women and children as life of the patient can be saved, if it is detected in time.
State Sickle Cell Institute is functioning in Capital city, where there are facilities for tertiary care of patients. Medical officers and lab technicians from across the state are also given training on the Sickle cell.

Sickle Cell is a genetic disease and it is not caused due to blood transfusion or Malnutrition. There are two types of this disease, Sickle Cell disease SS and Sickle Cell carrier AS.
Sickle cell disease SS can cause severe pain and discomfort to the patient and might require frequent blood transfusions. But with proper medication by the doctor, the patient can live longer and can avoid critical problems.

Rs 2 lakh award will be given to drug-free village: CM

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that drug de-addiction campaign should be launched in Samras Panchayats. A special reward of Rs 2 lakh will be given to a drug-free village.

To make the village drug-free, an Environment should be created through mutual dialogue and various inspirational activities. We must ensure that our Panchayats are Beti Friendly. In all Panchayats including Samaras Panchayats, more respect, honor and dignity of daughters must be ensured. Sons and daughters must be treated equally.

The Chief Minister said that 630 Sarpanch, 157 Janpad Panchayat members and one District Panchayat member have been elected unopposed in the state. An incentive of Rs 5 lakh will be given if a Sarpanch is elected unopposed in any Panchayat, Rs 7 lakh for the post of Sarpanch if the current and previous election is unopposed, and Rs 7 lakh will be provided if all the Panches and Sarpanchs are elected unopposed. Similarly, an incentive of Rs 12 lakh will be given to the Panchayat if Women are elected to all the posts of Sarpanch unopposed and R 15 lakh will be given to the Panchayat if women are elected to all the posts of Panch and Sarpanch in the Panchayat.

Gujarat proposes new 1,630 km coastal corridor

Aiming to give an impetus to tourism and economic activities in the state,Gujaratgovernment has proposed a new 1,630-kilometre coastal corridor from Umeragm in the south to Narayan Sarovar in Kutch. To be completed under PM GatiShakti scheme, the government proposes to set aside a buffer area along the highway for industrial and allied activities. The government has already earmarked the first 300 km covering Valsad, Navsari, Surat and Bharuch districts.

With the objective of giving an impetus to tourism and economic activities in the state, the Gujarat government has proposed a new 1,630km long coastal corridor from Umargam in south Gujarat to Narayan Sarovar in Kutch. To be completed under thePM Gati Shakti scheme, the government proposes to set aside a stipulated area along the highway for various industrial and allied activities.

The has already earmarked the first 300 kilometres of the project covering the districts of Valsad, Navsari, Surat and Bharuch in south Gujarat. A key source close to the development confirmed that the state government has proposed a new coastal corridor highway under the PM Gati Shakti project.

Under the PM Gati Shakti project, a detailed plan has been prepared for first 300km stretch. Sources said that the entire corridor is being planned keeping in mind the CRZ (Coastal Regulation Zone) restrictions, forest regulations and the like.
