STUBBLE BURNING: Punjab, Haryanas 12 districts see over 84% reduction

No less than 12 districts of Punjab and Haryana the biggest contributors to the food basket of India covering three lakh acres of farmland of 50,000 farmers in 300 villages has resulted in over 84 per cent reduction in stubble burning this season. Thanks to the Crop Residue Management (CRM) project a community-driven initiative of CII Foundation launched initially in 19 villages in 2018, covering 16,000 acres of farmland in Punjab under its Cleaner Air, Better Life initiative.

Under the project, the farmers are advised and supported to adopt the Environment-friendly alternatives through interventions focused on creating awareness about the hazards of stubble burning, offering them viable alternatives, and supporting them in adopting those viable alternatives, said the spokesperson for the Confederation of Indian (CII).

In 2021, the project covered 226 villages and two lakh acres and resulted in 84 per cent reduction in stubble burning in the intervened farmlands.

Shimla turnout 1.4% less than in 2017

Even as a record 75.6 per cent voter turnout was registered in Himachal Pradesh during the November 12 Assembly polls, apathy among urban voters continued with Shimla recording the lowest voting Percentage at 62.53, data shared by the (EC) today showed.

Compared with the 2017 Elections, the turnout in the states capital fell by 1.4 per cent. Urban Shimlas important localities, including government colonies, clocked some of the lowest polling percentages (ranging in fifties).

Cabinet approves proposal to fix life imprisonment period to 14 years, passes supplementary budget to be tabled in Assembly session

The State cabinet granted its approval to various proposals in the meeting presided over by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. In one of the major decisions taken in the meeting, the cabinet approved the proposal to fix the term for life imprisonment to 14 years. The incarceration period for life imprisonment in the State at present is 14 to 16 years for Women and 16 to 18 years for men. A total of 18 points were taken up in the agenda of the cabinet meeting. In another decision, the cabinet granted its approval to the supplementary budget of Rs 4,867 crore to be tabled in the coming Vidhan Sabha sessionfor this year.

Among the other decisions taken in the cabinet meeting, the stamp duty on pine resin collection was reduced from five per cent to two per cent. The cabinet also gave its nod to construction of green building at the old Roadways workshop in the provisional State capital under the Dehradun Smart City project. Further, the cabinet also approved the proposal for transferring the land of ISBT and leased Roadways workshop land to the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation to enable the corporation to secure a loan. The cabinet also gave its assent to the proposal for reorganisation of the Peyjal Nigams organisational structure. The reimbursement under Right To Education for students in private schools will be raised from Rs 1,393 to Rs 1,850. The cabinet further granted its approval to the rehabilitation policy for the Song river dam project.

Govt to develop central, west UP as BPharma, medical device parks

The Uttar Pradesh government will develop central and western Uttar Pradesh as BPharma and medical device parks.

For this, the government will give a subsidy on interest to the company on the purchase of pharma park land. “Medical devices and medicines made in UP will be supplied to Germany, France, South Asia and the USA,” said a statement

. At present, UPs Growth state value addition (GSVN) in the field of medicine is less than one billion dollars and it needs to be increased to 2-3 billion dollars. To increase this, Gautam Buddha Nagar has been selected to develop the medical devices park.

The Yogi government will give interest subsidy of up to 50 per cent on the purchase of land to the giants of the medical for setting up pharma parks in UP and up to 60 per cent interest subsidy on the construction of basic facilities along with common facilities inside the pharma parks.

Health Dept inks deal with Care India to improve health services

Health Minister Banna Gupta on Wednesday said that the agreement signed between the Health Department and Care India will set an example of a new dimension in the as it will boost health facilities in the State.

On the occasion, an MoU was signed between the Health Department and Care India to work in the health sector for five years. The Health Minister said that in order to prevent Women from cervical cancer, after various tests, this test should also be done, so that work can be done under a single system. 3 Bihar towns most polluted in country

Air Pollution inBiharremained the worst in the country for the second consecutive day. The only three cities in country where air quality index (AQI) level was in severe category above 400-mark were in Bihar. The AQI was found to be in very poor category at 11 other places in the state on Saturday.
Motihari,Siwanand Darbhanga were the most polluted places in the country on Saturday with severe AQI of 419, 417 and 404, respectively, according to the daily AQI bulletin issued by theCentral Pollution Control Board(CPCB).
The AQI was in poor or above categories in all monitoring stations in Bihar. An AQI between 201 and 300 is considered poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe. According to CPCB, severe AQI level can affect healthy people and seriously impact those with existing diseases, while the very poor air can cause respiratory illnesses on prolonged exposure.

Cgarh bags national award for child rights

The Chhattisgarh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights will be honoured in New Delhi with the SKOCH Award for its scheme Mor Mayaru Guruji.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Women and Child Development Minister Anila Bhedia congratulated the Commissions office bearers.

The Mor Mayaru Guruji was selected on Wednesday for the award (silver). It was announced virtually, an official Communication said.
