Himachal Pradesh eyeing to boost industrial investment: CM Jai Ram Thakur

With Covid situation improving, Himachal Pradesh is eyeing to boost industrial in the state by ensuring ground breaking of over Rs 10,000 crore worth of MoUs in coming days.

Jai Ram Thakur while congratulating the Icons of Himachal, said that these individuals awarded by The Times of India have contributed immensely to their motherland and ignited the lives of thousands of others by providing them ample opportunities for development and Growth. He said that all the entrepreneurs have also contributed significantly towards the development of the State.

He said that despite being a small State, Himachal Pradesh has shown way to several big states of the country by pioneering in various sectors. He said that the State Government has taken several initiatives to invite the entrepreneurs to be partner in the developmental journey of the State. Himachal Pradesh has been ranked at 7th position in Ease of Doing Business. He said that Himachal Pradesh has emerged as a Faster Moving State in the country by providing congenial Environment for the entrepreneurs to invest.

Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, Nehru Institute of Mountaineering sign MoU to promote adventure tourism

To promote adventure tourism in the listed Trekking Traction Centre (TTC), the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM).

Under the MoU, the experienced trainers from NIM will impart theoretical and practical training to the state’s youth in trekking, hiking and other allied subjects, including the medical aspect. Course completion certificates will also be awarded. The joint committee of both the organisations will monitor the training and recommend their suggestions.

New Cooperative Societies have been constituted for the convenience of farmers. He informed that the number of committees in the state has increased from 1,300 to 2,058. Farmers loans were waived off. Farmers are being economically empowered through Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana and Mukhyamantri Godhan Nyay Yojana.

A data tabled inRajya Sabhaon July 20 gave a snapshot of the budget spending of states for health & family welfare from the central allocation of National Health Mission (NHM). The figures indicate that Gujarats health spending increased by 18% from 2017-18 to 2020-21 from Rs 1,593 crore to Rs 1,894 crore.

Comparing the figure with other states, in the same period Odisha increased the budget spending by 55%, Maharashtra 51%, Rajasthan 50% and Madhya Pradesh 47%. Among the major states, only Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal were behind Gujarat. Year-on-year increase was just 1.6% from 2019-20 to 2020-21.

The RS data further revealed that 93% of the funds in 2020-21 went to the rural areas (National Rural Health Mission) and remaining 7% to urban areas (National Urban Health Mission). The year was the most crucial for the health spending due to the pandemic that swept across the region and caused high mortality in several cities including Ahmedabad and Surat.

National Health Policy 2017 categorically instructed the states to increase health expenditure as a Percentage of GDP from existing 1.15% to 2.5%. In case of Gujarat, the figure remained around 0.6% of the GDP.

The urban local bodies (ULB) will be receiving 50% grant from the state finance commission to operate the Indira Rasoi scheme, which provides food to poor at subsidised rates.The grant will be utilised only for the rasoi scheme. The finance department has released the first installment of approximately Rs 6 crore. An official at the directorate of local bodies said, Earlier, the grant money was sometimes utilised for other projects. In this situation, it would be difficult to fund many works.

As part of the scheme, 100 grams of pulses, 100 grams of vegetables, 250 grams of chapati and pickles per plate will be provided to people in 358 Indira Rasois (kitchens) which have been set up in 213 across the state. The scheme targets to serve food to 1.34 lakh people per day in the state.

In terms of import guarantees over 18 months, Indias foreign exchange reserves are in good condition and provide a buffer against unforeseen external shocks.

The RBI diversifies its forex reserves on a regular basis by expanding operations in the forex swap and repo markets, acquiring gold, and exploring new markets/products while adhering to safety and liquidity standards.
