Haryana: ‘Door-to-door delivery of oxygen cylinders will be done with the help of NGOs’

In yet another move targeted to ensure smooth availability Oxygen for those in Home isolation, door-to-door cylinder refill facility will be provided to them inHaryana.

As soon as the needy patients register for oxygen cylinder refill, their applications will be reflected in both the NGOs and theRed Cross Society. If any of them accepts the request, then the information will be sent via SMS on the given mobile number of the applicant.

Committee formed for exam reforms in higher education in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh formed a committee of university vice chancellors (VCs) on Monday to work out examination reforms and review curriculums for scaling up the quality of higher Education in the state in line with the advances taking place across the world. The committee, under the chairmanship of the Dev University VC, will also look into the possibility of introducing new courses and digital education and submit its report within 60 days.

Underlining the need to keep up with the transformation taking place globally in education, Singh tasked the committee with drafting a plan to bring the state’s education system on par with the world.

Him Ira shops to be opened for SHGs

As many as 24,500 self-help groups (SHGs) formed under the (NRLM) have been selling their products under Him Ira brand and the logo of the Himachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihoods Mission registered in 2019-20.

The main objective of setting up Him Ira shops and a weekly market was to provide a platform to Women SHGs to sell their products.

It has been targeted to set up 100 shops in different parts of the state. So far, Him Ira shops have been established in 46 locations.

These SHGs had launched a new initiative to prepare hygienic food for employees of various departments, offices and canteens located in educational institutions and government offices.

In the first phase, the Department of Technical Education has agreed to provide space to SHGs to set up Him Ira kitchens in its 14 educational institutions. The first such canteen has been established at Arki-ITI, Solan district. Similarly, Him Ira Annapurna Meals on Wheels, has also been started.

The Union Cabinet has approved the transfer of land from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to the Uttarakhand government for the construction of an Aerial Passenger Ropeway System between Dehradun and Mussoorie.

The planned Ropeway is a 5.5-kilometer mono-cable ropeway between Purkul Gaon in Dehradun and Library in Mussoorie, with an approximate cost of Rs 285 crore.

It will be capable of transporting 1,000 people per hour in either direction.

This will greatly reduce the traffic flow on the road from Dehradun to Mussoorie.

This will generate 350 direct jobs and more than 1,500 indirect jobs.

It will also be a major tourist destination, resulting in a boost to the tourism .

UP to start happiness curriculum pilot project from this session

Uttar Pradesh governmentis likely to introduce a happiness curriculum as apilot projectfrom this academic session. To be called realisation curriculum, it would be introduced in Mathura schools this session onwards.

The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in Mathura has sought the permission of director general, school education, Vijay Kiran Anand, to implement the course in 200 primary and upper primary schools of the district.
The happiness curriculum was first introduced by the Delhi government in 2018. Shravan Kumar Shukla, a government school teacher in Gorakhpur, who was a core team member which developed the happiness curriculum in Delhi, has been approached by the DIET authorities for support.

Ranchi district has reported exactly half of the 82 Covid deaths that occurred in Jharkhand since March 10, indicating that the state capital was accounting for more casualties during the second wave of Covid-19 in comparison with East Singhbhum, which reported the highest casualties during the first wave last year.

As per figures compiled by the National Health Mission (NHM), Ranchi accounts for 41 of the 82 Covid casualties reported in the state in the past one month. On the other hand, East Singhbhum, which continues to top among Jharkhand districts in terms of Covid casualties, has reported only seven Covid fatalities since March 10, reveals NHM data.

As per NHM data, Ranchi reported 7,017 of the 14,279 fresh Covid cases in Jharkhand since March 10. In totality, the district accounts for 40,407 of the 1,34,715 cases of Covid infection reported in Jharkhand so far. The figures indicate that Ranchi has reported 49 per cent of cases in the past one month and only 29 per cent of the total cases reported in Jharkhand so far.

As per figures with the NHM, Ranchi accounts for 290 of the 1175 Covid casualties about 24 per cent in Jharkhand so far.

Wheat procurement target increased to 7 lakh MT: CM Nitish Kumar

Chief minister (CM) Nitish Kumar on Thursday increased the wheat procurement target for the 2020-21 rabi Marketing season to 7 lakh metric tonnes (MT) and also directed the food and Consumer protection department (FCPD) and cooperative department to maximise procurement over the next one-month period ending on May 31.

While the earlier date for the start of wheat procurement was April 15, it was further revised to April 20 and the target was fixed at 1 lakh MT, sources said.

The harvesting of wheat had become brisk from the first week of April. Incidentally, the Centre has fixed the MSP for wheat procurement at Rs 1,975 per quintal. In the open market, the purchase price for wheat is in the range from Rs 1,600-1,700 per quintal, reports said.

Pandemic explosion sends Gujarat health infra in tailspin

Unabated rise in corona cases in Gujarat has triggered a Health emergency of sorts.

Rajasthan govt to look after kids orphaned during pandemic

The will look after children who have been orphaned during thepandemic, irrespective of the fact if their parents died due to Covid or some other ailment. Thehealth departmenthas issued an order to all districts in this regard. The nodal officers, including the medical staff at the district levels, will provide details of such children on the child helpline number 1098, following which thechild commissionwill prepare a list of minors to be handed over to the state government.

During the second wave of pandemic, with the death toll rising, many messages of child adoption started doing the rounds on Social Media. According to these messages minors whose parents have succumbed to Covid can be adopted. The registered orphanages said that till now they have not got any children whose parents died due to Covid. They added that in the coming days these calls might start pouring in.
