Punjab NRIs Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Monday said that the State Government is bringing a new policy for Punjabi NRIs, which would be ready by February 28.

The new policy would ensure effective resolutions of the complaints and issues related to Punjabi diaspora, said Dhaliwal, who held a meeting with the state DGP Gaurav Yadav, Principal Secretary NRI Affairs JM Balamurugan, ADGP NRI Affairs Praveen Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary Home Varinder Kumar, Special Secretary NRI Kamaljit Kaur Brar, and Special Secretary NRI Paramjit Singh.

The Minister said that the Punjab Governments initiative to hold NRI Milnis got a massive response, receiving 606 complaints. During these Milnis held at Jalandhar, SAS Nagar, Ludhiana, Moga and Amritsar, the Minister said that more than 40 percent complaints, that is 250, had been sorted out. Remaining complaints were also being addressed within minimal time, he added.

Char Dham: Tourism deparment to set up sign boards in 7 languages

The state tourism department has decided to setupsignboards in seven different languages, including , Telugu, Gujarati and Bengali, as a large number of pilgrims come from southern and western parts of India.
The officials have written a letter to the Garhwal commissioner to take his approval for the project. Following this, sign boards having important information related to theChar Dham Yatrawill be set up.

Apart from Madhya Pradesh, Delhi,Haryanaand Uttar Pradesh, a large number of Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib pilgrims come from states like West Bengal, Punjab, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. Last year, over 45 lakh pilgrims came to Uttarakhand for the Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib yatra and this time, too, a high number of devotees is expected.

Bihar govt cancels 39.36 lakh MGNREGA job cards

The rural development ministry of the has cancelled 39.36 lakh MGNREGA job cards of inactive labourers in the state.
The affected labourers had not worked a single day in the last three years and were still earning Money through this scheme.

According to an official, the state government has taken the initiative as the Aadhaar card did not match with the job cards of MGNREGA labourers. Maximum number of cancellations are being reported from Patna, Vaishali, Samastipur, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur and Darbhanga district. A large number of labourers took the money under Indira Awas Yojana and PM Awas Yojana and built their houses on the basis of job cards but did not work a single day as a labour under MGNREGA.

The state government has linked 88.31 lakh job cards with Aadhaar last year and the total number of MGNREGA labourers reached 2 crore 35 lakh in the state. The officials have found 39.36 lakh job cards were fake, not linked with Aadhaar and other reasons. Hence, the department has cancelled them.Some more job cards will be cancelled in future, the official further said.

Cgarhs Nicler App’ to get excellence award

The Computer Society of India (CSI) has selected Chhattisgarhs Nicler App for excellence award in e-Governance. The App has been developed by the states School Education Department with the help of the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Schools are examined quickly using the Nicler app under the Sughghar Padhvaiya programme, launched by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on November 14, 2022.

The new technology makes teachers’ work easier.

For this, students have to download QR code card from Google Play Store and paste it into a booklet based on the school’s U-Dice.

Each pupil is given a unique card with his or her name on it. The code exists with him for the entire duration of the session.

Ladli Laxmi Yojana has brought about changes: Chouhan

With the implementation of the scheme, not only did the girls get Scholarship amount, but a new era of their Empowerment has started. With the expansion of the scheme, now the government will also do the work of depositing fees for higher Education in Ladli Laxmi 2.0. After the Ladli Laxmi Yojana, now in the Ladli Bahna Yojana, Women from poor and middle class families will get an amount of one thousand rupees per month. By empowering girls and sisters, efforts are being made to bring them into Leadership roles through their participation in Environment-protection, de-addiction and other social campaigns.

Chief Minister Chouhan was transferring the scholarship amount in the accounts of Ladli Laxmi daughters of the state at Kushabhau Thakre auditorium in Bhopal today. Chouhan transferred scholarship amount of Rs. 107 crore 67 lakh to 3 lakh 33 thousand 842 Ladli Laxmi girls with a single click. Awards were also given to 5 Ladli Laxmi girls for their outstanding achievements in the state level programme. Bhopal Mayor Smt. Malti Rai was present in the programme. The programme was broadcast through webcast and other mediums in the entire state. In Panchayat and Anganwadi centres in different districts, sisters and daughters also joined this programme virtually.

There are more than 44 lakh Ladli Lakshmi daughters in the state. Information about year-by-year progress and rising importance of the scheme in the last 16 years was also provided in the programme. The Chief Minister digitally distributed scholarship amount to more than 3.25 lakh girls studying in classes 6, 9, 11 and 12.
The Chief Minister said that Ladli Laxmi Yojana, launched in the year 2007, has worked to bring about changes in the lives of girls. With the implementation of the scheme, a positive change has also been seen in the Attitude of the Society. The birth of daughters has also been encouraged. Evils like child marriage have been controlled.

Gujarats tobacco acreage up by 116% in 19 years

InGujarat which has the ignominy of being known as the oral cancer capital of India farmers in North and Central Gujarat are raking in the moolah fromtobacco.

Tobacco was sown on 63,800 hectares in 2004, and this number has risen to 1.38 lakh hectares for the 2023 winter crop, a 116% increase. Gujarat accounts for 48% of the countrys total tobacco production of 8 lakh tonnes.
Experts say there are many factors for this, tobacco is a cash crop and keeps away wild animals such as nilgai and wild boar which may graze on and destroy . The greater availability of water has also increased tobacco acreage.
According to figures from the Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture department, the acreage sown with tobacco was 68,200 hectares in 2003-04, and rose to 92,900 hectares in 2013-14 and to 1.38 lakh hectares as of January 2023.

The figures show that till 2013-14, about 95% of tobacco was grown in the Charotar region Anand, Kheda and Vadodara districts. However, in 2013-14, it started to be grown in North Gujarat, which now accounts for 30% of tobacco acreage, mainly in the districts of Mehsana, Banaskantha, Patan and Sabarkantha. In Central Gujarat, 96% of the area sown with tobacco is in Kheda and Anand districts.

Stamp duty for merger of unlisted cos to be based on value of shares

In an important judgement, a larger bench of the Gujarat held that the State Government can levy stamp duty in the event of amalgamation or reconstruction of unlisted companies based on their market capitalization, and the premium paid for issuance of Shares cannot be treated as its face value.

A three-judge bench gave various references regarding computation of stamp duty under the Gujarat Stamp Duty Act. The questions were posed by the chief controlling revenue authority before the HC in 2020, when different companies including firms of Adani Group, Global Enterprise Ltd, Troikaa Pharmaceuticals Ltd felt that higher stamp duty was asked for mergers/amalgamation/reconstruction of their companies.

For calculation of stamp duty, the bench held that therevenue departmentwas right in charging duty on orders sanctioning schemes of amalgamation/reconstruction between unlisted companies based on market value of shares, which will be deemed to be its face value according to Explanation-III(c) in Article 20(d) of Schedule-I to the Gujarat Stamp Act, 1958. The amount of premium at which such shares of unlisted companies are issued under schemes cannot be treated as a separate consideration while computing stamp duty.
