Rs 14K cr paid to farmers for procurement

Haryana has so far paid Rs 14,693 crore directly into the account of the farmers till today on account of procurement of wheat.

Giving information in this regard, an official spokesperson said so 84.38 lakh tonnes of wheat has reached the mandis in the state. He informed that today 21,314 tonnes of wheat had been procured by the state procurement agencies at the minimum support price and so far, 82.58 lakh tonnes had been procured. He said instructions had been issued to all concerned that the wheat procurement in the mandis should be ensured on a daily basis.

Punjab seeks slashing duty on Covid related items

Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal called upon the Centre to have GST with a heart as he sought a much lower tax regime on goods required to battle Covid ahead of the meeting of the GST Council.

The Fitment Committee of the GST Council has recommended against granting full exemption as that would result in increased cost of production of these goods. In this scenario, the opposition finance ministers may press for a token GST of 0.1 % on such items.

Himachals first flower mandi to be set up at Parwanoo

The work to construct the states first flower mandi at Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC), Parwanoo has begun with 10 shops and an auction platform to be constructed till June-end.

Floriculture is practiced in Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan, Chamba, Bilaspur, Kullu, Mandi and Kangra districts as part of crop diversification by the people to supplement their income. About 650 hectares of land is under floriculture in the state out of which 98 per cent area is under protected cultivation while 86 hectares is under shaded net houses.

The natural agro climatic conditions in most parts of the state are ideal for production of flowers and its planting material.

Uttarakhand plans to extend midday meals to more schools

TheCentrehas released a budget of Rs 216 crore for the mid-day meal scheme in Uttarakhands schools and using it, the states Education department plans to extend the benefit to more schools, especially 55 more madrassas. The scheme is already running in several madrassas ofUttarakhand.

In Uttarakhand, nearly 6.7 lakh students from classes 1 to 8 benefit from the midday meal scheme.

Education department officials said that a of the midday meal scheme has also been conducted to get feedback fromvarious stakeholders. They said hearing from the stakeholders will help improve the schemes implementation.

Rs 9 crore spent on 746 girl schools in Uttar Pradesh with no attendance record

The has sought a report from basic Education officers in 18 districts over withdrawal of Rs 9 crore from banks meant for distribution of food, medicines and stationery to a chain of residential schools for girls Kasturba Girls Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) which has no record of student attendance in the last academic session. Officials said either girls didnt attend class or their attendance was not uploaded online. The government-run school chain comprises 746 KGBVs for girls from economically weaker section.

All basic shiksha adhikaris (BSAs) have been asked to send documents to the state project office of the Samagra Shiksha till June 15. Based on online feed, we can see the amount spent by districts, but funds utilisation needs to be substantiated by documents.

Jharkhand to promote classes 9th & 11th students without exams

Jharkhandgovernment has decided to promote students enrolled in classes 9 and 11 in the academic session 2020-21 to the next class i.e., Class 11 and 12 respectively.

The students of the classes 9 and 11 were examined through the examination conducted by the Jharkhand Govt at the end of the session and the successful candidates promoted to the next classes, but this year due to Covid-19 epidemic, examinations have not taken place this year. Therefore, the Govt has decided to promote these students without examination.

Due to pandemic Covid-19, all the schools are closed except for a limited period, due to which almost physical operation of the above classes has not taken place.

Madhya Pradesh govt notifies compassionate job scheme for kin of deceased staff

The stategovernmenthas implemented the Mukhya Mantri Covid-19 Anukampa Niyukti Yojana (CM Covid-19compassionate appointmentscheme). Orders to this effect were issued here on Friday and the scheme will cover all employees regular, permanent, work-charged and contingent-paid, daily wagers, ad-hoc, contract workers or those on honorarium.

As per the details, on the death of the personnel from Covid infection, an eligible member of their family will be given compassionate appointment in the same type of EMPLOYMENT in which the deceased employee was employed as per the provisions laid down in the scheme.

NDDB, GCMMF join hands for genomic selection in Gujarat

The National Development Board,GujaratCo-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) and other milk unions of Gujarat have decided to collaborate on expanding reference Population forgenomic selection. It will extend benefits of improved genetics to the farmers of the state.

NDDB, GCMMF and the milk unions will work together to develop standard operating procedures for recording, take up data analysis and monitor the quality of data collected.NDDBs executive director Meenesh Shah and GCMMFs managing director RS Sodhi inked an MoU to this effect during a virtual ceremony on Tuesday, which was attended by many milk unions of the state.

Shah said that genomic selection is dependent on size of reference population that are performance recorded and genotyped. Accuracy of genomic selection increases with expansion of reference population.

The project will fast-track genetic progress in cattle and buffaloes not only for their milk production potential but also for regular Reproduction, reduced disease incidences and improved appearance.

Around 1.9 lakh animals will be recorded in next five years for their milk production capacity, fat, SNF and protein content of milk, reproduction regularity of animals, disease incidence, animals body type, animals behaviour among others. Out of the recorded animals, more than 80,000 will be genotyped and related data will help in genomic breeding value estimation with more accuracy.
