PM Inaugurates The Infosys Foundation Vishram Sadan At National Cancer Institute In Jhajjar (Haryana)

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi held a video conference today to open the Infosys Foundation Vishram Sadan at the National Cancer Institute on the Aiims Jhajjar campus in New Delhi.

The Prime Minister, speaking at the event, said that today is a historic day since India has reached the milestone of 100 crore vaccine doses.

The country now possesses a powerful protective barrier of 100 crore vaccine doses to combat the greatest pandemic in 100 years. And stressed that this achievement belongs to India and its people.

The Prime Minister appreciated all of the country’s vaccine manufacturers, as well as workers involved in vaccine transportation and Health-care experts involved in vaccine development.

Punjab: PPCB records less air pollution on Dussehra than last year

Cities in Punjab recorded lower Air Pollution levels after Dussehra this year than they did last year.

Fewer farm fires this year than in 2020 are also believed to be a reason behind the low pollution level on the event that was celebrated on October 15. Last year Dussehra was celebrated on October 25.

PPCB stations recorded AQI far less than last year on the day of Dussehra even though the air quality of Punjab had slipped to ‘moderate-zone’ from ‘satisfactory zone’ this year, the next day of the event.

This month following high moisture and rainfall towards the end of September had hit the harvesting of the crop and thus the burning of crop residue. So far, around 3,000 stubble burning cases were recorded in Punjab whereas the number crossed 7,100 by October 19, 2020.

Amid coal crisis, windfall for power-surplus Himachal

As several states faced power shortage due to dwindling coal stocks, Himachal not only remained unaffected but also earned good profit over the last month.

The official said the power rate jumped to the highest permissible limit of Rs 20 per unit on several occasions. The price usually fluctuates between Rs 2.50 and Rs 6, but for at least 10 days in October the Average price range has been Rs 11-14 a unit. The past few weeks have indeed been profitable, he said. Much of the surplus power is going to the energy exchange. We dont have many bilateral power pacts where the price remains fixed. The exchange is market driven and rates are fixed as per demand and supply on a daily basis, the official said.

Dehradun gets countrys first Gorkhali community radio station

Emphasising that community radios are important for nation-building, preservation of language, culture and heritage, Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (retd) inaugurated the countrys first Gorkhali community radio station at Gorkhali Sudhar Sabha in Garhi Cantt area of Dehradun.

Those behind the initiative say the idea is to preserve and promote the culture of the Gorkha community.

India has around 1.5 crore Gorkhas, of which nearly 15 lakh are based in Uttarakhand.

Uttar Pradesh accounts for more than 12% of India’s 100 crore vaccine jabs

As India crossed the milestone of 100 crore Covid-19 doses, the share of UP, with 12.3 crore jabs, stood at more than 12%, which is highest in the country. Maharashtra, with over 9.3 crore doses and West Bengal with 6.9 crore doses are the next two states in terms of total inoculations.

In UP, 9.48 crore persons have taken the first dose while 2.83 crore are fully vaccinated. This means that 81% of the 15.04 crore eligible persons in UP have taken at least one dose while 18.4% are fully vaccinated.

Experts appreciated the enormity of the work undertaken in UP, especially in the Light of factors like limited availability of Vaccines, Union Government‘s vaccination priority to high prevalence states like Maharashtra and Kerala in early stages and the scale of implementation challenge in UP.

CEEDs Resource Centre to support Govt on Just Transition

For building public consensus on the initiative of just transitions across party lines including all key stakeholders, Centre for Environment and Energy Development (CEED) organised a dialogue on Wednesday that was aimed to prepare the State for future ready pathways in the wake of resource depletion along with ensuring livelihood and economic security in the region.

CM reviews crop losses

CM Nitish Kumar held a meeting to review crop losses due to heavy rainfall in the state. Senior officials from Disaster Management, Resources“>Water Resources and Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture departments attended the meeting. The CM instructed the officials to conduct fresh review of estimates of crop losses due to heavy rainfall over the last 2-3 days. Nitish said floods happened in different areas of the state in four phases due to continuous rainfall over the last 4-5 months. He said compensation is being paid to farmers for crop losses up to October 15. He also instructed them to complete the construction of embankments.

RERA asks Chhattisgarh housing board to honour commitment, directs to develop amenities at its posh project

In a significant decision to protect the interests of customers, Chhattisgarh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has directed the state-owned housing board to develop and other facilities at its premium Green Ville City, housing board colony at Boriyakalan by honouring the commitments made in its sale brochure and as per the approved layout plan.

RERA in its order has also asked the housing board commissioner to take within two months a decision regarding the Health centre and swimming pool and to inform the authority accordingly. Besides, the housing board has also been directed to ensure proper maintenance of the colony by collecting maintenance charges from the residents till the colony is handed over to the residents.
