7 villages get Rs 1.42 crore under PMAGY

Seven villages of Malerkotla have been selected under the (PMAGY). The Centre has aleady released development funds to the tune of Rs 1.42 crore for these villages.

The selected villages include Mohrana, Kalian, Monarwali, Bir Amamgarh, Phalaud Kalan, Bhatian Khurd and Bhumsi.

Sources informed that the village-level committees comprising sarpanches and panchayat members had been formed.

Moreover, village development plans (VDPs) have been prepared after taking Consent of the villagers.

CM reviews progress of NH projects in Himachal

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday reviewed the progress of various ongoing National Highway (NH) projects in the state focusing on resolving issues related to land compensation, clearances of FRA (Forest Rights Act) and FCA (Forest conservation Act), and other bottlenecks of the projects.

The Chief Minister lauded the efforts of the officers for disbursing Rs 804 crore as land compensation in various NH projects within a month. He also emphasized the importance of completing the disbursement process of the remaining compensation cases worth about Rs 750 crore by March 27, 2023.

As the roads are the lifeline of the Himachal Pradesh, the has been working diligently to ensure the timely completion of National Highway projects. The State Government’s efforts to expedite the land compensation and other clearances process would facilitate smoother implementation of the projects and provide better road connectivity to the people as well as tourists visiting the state, he said.

Sukhu directed the officers to expedite the FRA-FCA clearance cases, by monitoring the cases every 15 days. He said that a follow-up review meeting would be held on March 27 (Monday) to access the progress made in these matters.

Cabinet approves New Excise policy of Ukhand

The State cabinet in its meeting held gave its approval to the new excise policy-2023-24. In an attempt to curtail the sale of illicit liquor and smuggling from other States the policy envisages bringing parity in prices of the liquor bottles of regular brands. There would not be a difference exceeding Rs 20 per bottle between the prices of liquor of regular brand in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The excise department has also decided to carry forward the licences of existing liquor shops for the year 2023-24 as well. The existing license holders would have to submit an additional surcharge of 15 per cent on last year’s rates to renew their licenses. The licences of the shops which are not renewed would be allotted on the basis of a lottery. The has set up a target of Rs 4,000 crore for the excise department. In another decision the government has decided to levy a cess of Rs three on sale of every bottle of liquor in the state. A sum of Rs one each has been levied for Sports, Women welfare and conservation of bovine species.

In another decision the cabinet decided to extend existing fitness charges for the vehicles engaged in mining for one more year. The cabinet also gave its nod to the proposal that has a provision of self attestation to the applicant for construction of single story houses.

Mega textile park to be developed in Malihabad

With the aim to make Uttar Pradesh a textile hub, a mega textile park, to be known as Sant PM Mitra Textile and Apparel Park Limited, will be developed between Lucknow and Hardoi.

He said chikankari and zari-zardozi of Lucknow, handloom of Hardoi and Barabanki, carpet of Sitapur, zari-zardozi of Unnao, hosiery and textile of Kanpur, block printing and zari-zardozi of Farrukhabad, zari-zardozi of Shahjahanpur, handloom Industry of Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur and Rampur, silk, handloom and textile clusters of Mau and Varanasi and apparel clusters of Gautam Buddha Nagar will be set up in a single complex.

Enlist with govt portal: All private companies in Jharkhand told

All private firms operating inJharkhandwith a workforce of 10 or more staff, incuding those which are agencies for central and state PSUs, have to register themselves with the government portal http://jharniyojan.jharkhand.gov.in.
The website, which was launched by CMHemant Sorenhere on Friday, aims at reserving 75% of the jobs with salaries up to Rs 40,000 in the companies for the locals.
While registering with the website, the companies must include details of all such positions with salaries up to Rs 40,000 per month each.

Blame ‘devastated’ primary education system for lowest literacy rate in Bihar: Experts

A latest report of the ministry of Education describing Bihar with the lowest Literacy rate in the country has raised concern over the poor state of education in the state that produces good number of Ias officers and IITians every year with many of them cracking the exams with self-study only.

Academicians, experts and officials have blamed the nearly ‘devastated’ primary education for the sorry state of affairs. They said the recruitment of schoolteachers on contract without caring for the talent has further aggravated the problem.

“Primary education was once in a good shape in the state, but now it has got destroyed, thanks to the introduction of contract system in TEACHING jobs. How can we get good teachers if the higher education remains in bad shape. If we can’t get good teachers, then primary education will remain in bad shape,” said Prof DM Diwakar, former director at the AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies.
He said the government institutions are the source of education for 90% of the Population, but the is bringing private universities.

Stating that the state government was quite serious towards improving the level of education in the state, the minister said the highest allocation (22%) of funds in this year’s budget is for education while chief minister Nitish Kumar has announced to increase it further by 4%.
According to the latest report of the Bihar Economic Survey, dropout is a major problem and it is pervasive in all the stages of education. Reacting on this, the minister said the education department has launched many initiatives such as bag-less Saturday to motivate schoolchildren towards education and to improve enrolments in schools, the government is quite serious towards improving the level of education in the state though it will take time. “Ek din me to sab thik nahin hoga na!”, he remarked.

Policies make Guj leader in economic development

Industries ministerBalvantsinh Rajputsaid on Wednesday that the business-friendly policies of theGujaratgovernment had made the state a leader in .
He said Gujarat leads among all states in sectors like textiles, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, ceramic, diamonds and others.

Speaking in the assembly on the budgetary demands of the state industries and mines department, the minister said Gujarat accounts for 33% of the countrys exports. With 18.14% of the countrys industrial production, Gujarat is ranked first in the country as far as industrial production is concerned,Rajputsaid. He stated that the manufacturing sector had enjoyed the largest share of the states GDP. State finance minister Kanubhai Desai had allocated Rs 8,589 crore for the industries and mines department.

Commenting on Gujarats share in theFDIthat the country has received, Rajput said, Gujarat has received Rs 18 lakh crore FDI in the past eight years, and this is 57% of the total Rs 32 lakh crore FDI that the country has received in this period.

Quoting Centres figures, the minister said that between 2010 and 2022, Gujarats share of Investment intentions filed was 16.3%, with investment intentions of Rs 14 lakh crore made during the period. He added that the Atmanirbhar schemes for Industry assistance have also received encouraging responses. Several companies have signed MoUs with the State Government to set up units across the state in various sectors.
