Punjab to introduce public mining sites

To ensure that sand and gravel are available at reasonable rates to the general public, Punjab Governments Mining Department is all set to introduce public mining sites in the state.

Terming the decision as historic and path-breaking initiative, the states Mining and Geology Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer on Monday said that these sites will help in checking any malpractice to jack up the prices of sand and truly give the freedom of choice to the common man to buy sand from the source of his choice and at the price of his choice.

The Chief Minister would shortly announce details of all such sites in various districts in the State. The first public mining site would be inaugurated soon itself, he added.

To resolve the pending issues ofapplegrowers, a meeting was held between the orchardists and senior officials of the horticulture department here on Tuesday.Apple growers demanded strict implementation of the APMC Act 2005 and safeguarding of their interests. They also sought setting up of the horticulture commission as per the poll promise of the Congress party.

Uttarakhand government to give 4.4 acres of orchard land for non-horticultural activities; farmers protest

Anger is simmering among farmers of the Kumaon region after the Uttarakhand government decided to give away 4.4 acres of Ramgarh orchards situated nearNainitalthat span across 165 acres, once famous for its peach, plum, avocado, and apple cultivation, to the State Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIDCUL). SIDCUL will allegedly set up hotels, wellness centres, and industrial units in the area.
According to the locals, the government’s order on the matter was issued nearly three months ago, but locals started opposing it earlier this month.

Odia schools in Jharkhand shift to Hindi, sparks row

Thousands of children of Odia-speaking people residing in bordering districts ofJharkhandare forced to study in Hindi medium due to the lack of Odia-language teachers in their schools.

As a result,Odisha Bhasha Vichar Mancha a civil Society group has decided to move the Jharkhand with a demand to include Odia in the teachers training programme.

The recent decision of the National Council of Teachers Education (NCTE) to exclude Odia from the primary teachers training programme in the state has added to the woes ofOdiasin Jharkhand.

Sources said Odia is studied as a second language in Jharkhand as around 20 lakh Odia-speaking people reside in 10 districts of the state. In the three bordering districts of East and West Singhbhum and Sareikala-Kharswan, around 30% of the Population are Odias.

1.85 lakh Dial 112 for emergency help in 8 months in Bihar

The emergency response support system (ERSS), which runs theDial 112 service of Bihar Police, has so far provided assistance to 1.85 lakh people under different categories in the last eight months.

According to the data provided by theBihar police, about 55,000 calls are received on the emergency number daily, out of which 1,000 -1500 are registered and action is taken on them. Earlier, the number of such calls was only 400. The had launched the number (112) to provide a single point of contact for people, seeking assistance from police, fire and ambulance Services on July 6 last year.

Cgarh Assly budget session from March 1

The budget session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly will commence on March 1. A notification was issued by the Assembly Secretariat.

The session, to run till March 24, will have 14 sittings. This would be the 16th session of the fifth state assembly.

The session will see the Governors address, financial works and some other government works.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who also holds the finance portfolio, will present the annual budget.

MP Transco gets the best technological pavilion award

In the India International Science Festival 2023 held in Bhopal last day, Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MP Transco) was adjudged the best among other technical stalls displayed in the festival. For this MP Transco was awarded with the Best Technological Pavilion award. Energy Minister of Madhya Pradesh Pradyuman Singh Tomar has congratulated the officers and employees on this achievement.

In this mega Science and Technology exhibition, various innovations made by MP Transco in its system as per Madhya Pradesh government policy ,were displayed through models. In innovation, model of survey through drone for maintenance of Extra high tension transmission lines, special insulated dress used for bare hand maintenance of Extra high tension transmission lines,, model of Extra high voltage substation was the center of special attraction. The students also saw and understood the stall of MP Transco with interest and also took information about the stalls from the officers present. Apart from this, many subject experts showed interest in the stall and appreciated MP Transco for keeping the transmission system better by innovation.

Rs 1,000 crore for Rajkot power infrastructure

The central government has allotted Rs 1,000 crore for strengthening the electricity distribution in the Rajkot district. The power ministry allotted the fund under a revamped distribution sector scheme.

According to a statement issued by the information department, the fund will be used in various projects like replacing open cables of 11KV with medium voltage cover control, replacing existing transformers with high-capacity ones, and others. A system to provide consumers with their daily power usage on a mobile app is in the pipeline so that they can regulate their daily consumption.

Startups ecosystem gets fillip with Rs 250 crore fund in Rajasthan Budget

Startup ecosystem is set to add heft with the chief minister announcing Rs 250 crore to support them. Presenting theBudget, Gehlot saidRajasthan Fund will be given Rs 250 crore to handhold the startups.

Besides the fund, they will also enjoy exemption on stamp duty applicable on loan documents executed for the establishment of start-up. The amount has been raised from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.

Stamp duty on purchase or lease above 10 years of immovable property for the establishment of workplace by a startup where founding member or members are of the age group of 18 to 35 years will be exempted.
The limit of single source procurement without tender through startups is raised to Rs 25 lakh from the current limit of Rs 15 lakh.

The startup policy recently announced by the State Government has many provisions to encourage Entrepreneurship and support the ventures financially and otherwise.
