Haryana to introduce new law to settle family land feuds: CM Manohar Lal Khattar

In a bid to resolve family land disputes, Haryana is all set to introduce a new legislation that objectifies to ensure quick redressal of all such disputes that remain pending in courts for years due to absence of any proper redressal mechanism, said Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar while speaking at the programme held late at night in Chandigarh.

Besides this, the state is also in the process to formulate a plan for 100 villages which have not been consolidated. Under this, the consolidation will be done in a scientific way.

Sharing the state governments vision of boosting the industrial and economical sectors, the chief minister said that on the lines of how Gurugram has been developed industrially and economically, now the emphasis is being laid on developing other districts of the state.

Himachal government may legalise cannabis to give economy a boost

Unable to limit the cultivation of cannabis, theHimachalgovernment is considering legalising it for boosting revenue andeconomy. CMSukhvinder Singh Sukhusaid a panel will explore this possibility based onlegalframework, as hemp has medicinal and industrial uses as well.

The will build a regulatory mechanism and study cases from other states before taking a final call.

Uttarakhand to build 17,000 polyhouses in a year

In a major push to the sector, theUttarakhand cabinet approved 17,648polyhousesin the Himalayan state.

These polyhouses would be used to grow vegetables, flowers and fruits. While a farmer would contribute 20% of the fund required, the remaining 80% would be provided by the State Government.

In a major decision to prevent traffic snarls and unplanned constructions at key locations in the hills, the government has decided that anyone constructing a structure within a distance of 50 metre of state highways, national highways and key tourist locations in hill areas will have to take permission from the development authorities. Similarly, in the plains, the distance would be 100 metre from such locations.

An approval has also been given to develop 603 primary schools and 76 higher secondary schools as centres of excellence. There are schools where students from a distance up to 5km are coming for Education and the cabinet aims to provide better facilities in such institutions. “In the first phase, we have identified these schools and it will be ensured that the required number of teachers and facilities are provided to the selected institutions,” he added.

Besides, the cabinet has also waived off the compounding fee of Rs 65 lakh on the land and houses made for Tibetan refugees in Tarla Nagal area. The land for the project and also the houses were provided by government itself.

9k-cr funds lapse in PWD for last fiscal

The public works department (PWD) ended up surrendering close to Rs 9,000 crore back to the government, which is one-third of itsbudgetof Rs 27,140 crore during the 2022-23 fiscal year.

Though returning the unspent amount iscommonfor various government departments every financial year, in PWDs case the lapsed amount has gone up significantly instead of going down.

During the last fiscal year, PWD was able to exhaust Rs 8,914 crore out of Rs 27,140 crore which translates to 33% underutilisation. Before that during 2021-22 fiscal year out of Rs 23,562 crore that had been provisioned for strengthening and improving road Network, building new bridges and constructing important government buildings and structures, the department was unable to spend about Rs 7,000 crore (30% underutilisation). So, while the overall objective was to improve road connectivity to bring down the commute time between towns and cities, several works were delayed.

Make effective marketing system for Agri and Forest produce: CM

Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that forest produce based products can be made an important source of livelihood by value addition in remote rural areas of the State. Emphasize on providing fair price to the villagers for the products produced and stored by them. The CM said that a Database should be prepared of which forest produce trees are there on private and forest land, and by which group the products of those trees are being used. He was directing the officials in the second meeting of the Board of Directors of Sido-Kanhu Agriculture and Forest Produce State Cooperative Union Ltd., Ranchi, held at the Ministry of Jharkhand.

Sido-Kanhu Agriculture and Forest Produce State Cooperative Union Ltd is continuously organizing meetings with the District Union and the works are being given a concrete shape. State level workshop is also being organized along with the survey. Approval was also given for the selected logo of Sido-Kanhu Agriculture and Forest Produce State Cooperative Union Ltd. in the meeting.

Include 76% quota bill in 9th schedule: Baghel writes to PM

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to include the states amended provisions, which provide 76% reservation to different communitie, in the 9th schedule of the Constitution.

In the letter, the Chief Minister stated that inclusion of the amended provisions of reservation in the 9th schedule of the Constitution would ensurejusticefor the deprived and marginalized sections of the Society, considering the special circumstances of the state. He has requested the Prime Minister to direct all concerned officials to take necessary action in this regard.

The reservation (Amendment) Bill passed by the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly in December 2022 provides for 13% reservation for Scheduled Castes, 32% for Scheduled Tribes, 27% for Other Backward Classes, and 4% for Economically Weaker Sections in the state.

The Chief Minister has also highlighted that 32% of Chhattisgarh’s total Population consists of Scheduled Tribes, 13% are Scheduled Castes, and 42% are from Other Backward Classes. Moreover, 44% of the state’s land is covered with forests, and a large part of the state is covered by inaccessible mountainous regions. These factors contribute to the state’s unique situation and the need for special provisions for reservation.

Neemuch DIC eyes 100 cr investment in 3 clusters

District Industries and Trade Centre(DIC) under theministry of Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSME) is eyeing an of over Rs 100 crore in three proposed clusters inNeemuch.

The development work for multi-product clusters at three villages Sagrana, Kesharpura and Daru in the district has started under the supervision of Special Purpose Vehicle.

Food Processing, cattle feed, cement among other industries have taken up land in the proposed multi-product clusters and more than 20 industries are collectively estimated to invest Rs 131 crore in the three upcoming clusters inNeemuch district.

The multi-product cluster at Sagrana will come up on 9.9 hectare and five industries have proposed to invest Rs 48 crore to set up food processing and cement industries.

Kesharpura cluster will come up on 5.65 hectare and five industries have proposed to invest Rs 45 crore.

The third cluster at Daru will come up on 17 hectare and 14 industries are expected to put in Rs 38 crore.

Surat lauded for smart city, PMAY projects

A media and Communication team from the union ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA) reviewed several developmental projects and implementation of flagship government schemes during its three-day visit to the city.
Surat has been a frontrunner in the implementation of the Smart Cities Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission, and Prime Minister Awas Yojna (PMAY) among others.

The delegates also visited the Surat Diamond Bourse and the Khajod waste dumping site remediation project. The team personally experienced the bicycle-sharing project and went cycling to Dumas.
They also interacted with residents of the economically weaker section (EWS) housing projects developed under PMAY.
