New policy soon for boundary walls, sheds in veggie markets

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today announced that a new policy would be formulated for the construction and repair of boundary walls, sheds, gates and cleaning arrangements etc in vegetable markets across the state.

Under the policy, a committee would be formed with arhtiyas as part of it. Some amount would be made available to the committee from the market fees so that the committee could get the works of the market done at its level.

Khattar also said that shops in Kaithals transport nagar were sold to traders as per the policy by the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP). However, today traders were not able to sell their shops further due to some terms and conditions in the policy. Realising the difficulty of the traders, the government has decided that a new policy will be formulated for such traders and they will be given relaxation in the rules so that they are able to sell their shops.

The CM said a policy was also being formulated to shift government warehouses built in cities across the state outside the city. He also announced the extension of the Vivadon ka Samadhan Yojana for a period of one year to settle the ongoing disputes related to shops in mandis.

Small cold stores sought in Punjab villages

Inadequate small cold storage facilities in rural areas is leading to losses for vegetables growers as keeping their produce in big cold stores costs them high rents. The transportation of crops from villages to big cities is also an issue due to which they sell their produce at a low cost.

Ram Singh of Bhaini Bagha village in Mansa says, Our area has high cultivation of capsicum and watermelon, but the prices of capsicum crashed to Rs 2.50 per kg from Rs 23-24 last year. It could be addressed only when growers get some control over the supply line through the cold Storage Facility.

Another vegetable grower Gurdeep Singh of Bathinda says that the government should support the farmers by providing them adequate .

Will seek 7.19% share in Chandigarh, royalty from BBMB projects: Himachal CM

The seems to have toughened its stand after Punjabs opposition to the Central Governments decision to waive the no objection certificate (NOC) condition for the withdrawal of water by Himachal from BBMB projects for Irrigation purpose. It may now seek 7.19 per cent share in other sectors as well.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said, Himachal will seek its legitimate 7.19 per cent share as per the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966 in every sector, be it in Chandigarh or the royalty from BBMB projects.

794 beneficiaries get houses under PMAY

Theurban development minister Prem Chand Aggarwalallotted houses to a total of 794 beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) of Kanakpur and Kashipur through the online lotterysystem on Wednesday. Aggarwal said that the department is currently working on the construction of 17,304 houses in 21 projects after getting approval from the central government. He said that various authorities have proposed 3,104 residential units for economically weaker sections (EWS) in five projects while 14,200 houses have been proposed by the housing and development board in a total of 16 projects.

He said that a total of 464 houses have been constructed and made available to the beneficiaries by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) so far. The board is also working on the construction of 14,200houses for EWS. He said that these schemes were approved by the central government but work on the project got delayed due to legal problems, and it started in March last year.He said that in the said projects, land with housing is being made available to the board by the private developer at the rate of Rs Six lakh per house out of which Rs1.50 lakh are being given as a grant by the central government and Rs one lakh as a grant by the .

The remaining amount of Rs 3.5 lakh is given by the beneficiaries. He said that these amounts are released to the developer from time to time according to the progress of the work after checking the quantity and quality of the construction done by him. He said that the government has fixed a target for the completion of the construction works to transfer the houses to the beneficiaries before September 2024. He said that the beneficiaries are being selected with complete transparency through the online lottery after registration in the central governments portal as per the rules.

Yogi govt drafting Pharmaceutical Industry Policy

In an effort to make Uttar Pradesh a hub of pharmaceutical products in the country, the Yogi Adityanath government is preparing the draft of Pharmaceutical Policy-2023, which will be valid for the next five years after its implementation.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during a recent meeting, discussed the important changes required in the Pharmaceutical Industry Policy 2018 to implement proposals received during the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2023 on the ground.

Chief ministers advisor GN Singh said, The new policy aims to improve the states pharmaceutical and medical device industry by encouraging local production, promoting research and development, and improving the availability of affordable medicines to citizens.

The upcoming policy will focus on creating a conducive Environment for the development of the pharma sector in the state and providing subsidies, incentives and land to promote the pharmaceutical industry, he added.

He further said that the main objective of the policy was to create a strong ecosystem for research and development by setting up state-of-the-art facilities and collaborating with academic institutions. The new policy is being prepared to boost the local economy, focusing on the need for specialised technology, quality control system and specialised ecosystem for the pharmaceutical and medical device sector.

According to the policy, the Yogi government will pay a 50 per cent of interest amount for a maximum of seven years on the loan received from a bank for the purchase of land to establish the industry, which will not exceed Rs 1 crore per year. Pharma and Medical Device Park are receiving special focus.

The goal of the policy is to identify plots and develop parks for bulk manufacturing of allopathic, AYUSH products, medical devices and key ingredients used in bulk drug manufacturing.

Jharkhands Khelo India Sporting Centre to be functional by July

The state capital will have the Khelo India Sporting Centre of Excellence (KISCE) to harness sporting talent and groom them for international tournaments, including the Olympics, by July-end.

The KISCE will be set up in Ranchi for hockey, archery, and athletics and is expected to become functional by July-end, she added.
Conceptualised by the Union ministry of Sports, the KISCEs are aimed at overhauling existing sporting in a particular state so that it can deliver best training to athletics of selected sporting disciplines.

Besides the KISCE, all 24 districts of Jharkhand will have one Khelo India Centre in the coming months. The district sports officers have been tasked to identify the sporting disciplines which are popular in their districts and send recommendations to the sports directorate, Lakra added.

Second Bihar Museum Biennale from August 7

The second edition ofBihar Museum Biennale, starting here from August 7, aims to sensitise people about the importance and significance of museum culture in India.

Organised by theBihargovernments department of art, culture and youth affairs, the biennale will host museums from Thailand, , Nepal and Costa Rica, among other nations.

It will feature exhibitions, virtual tours, art shows and immersive experiences based on the theme of ‘Connecting People, Connecting Cultures, Interrogating Museums’.
Bihar Museum has also announced two exhibitions, starting on June 21 and 22, as curtain-raiser to the biennale.

The Chhattisgarh Mukhyamantri Bal Uday Yojana aims to take proper care of the children from child care institutions, said Kiranmayee Nayak, Chairperson, Chhattisgarh State Commission for Women.

She was addressing a day workshop to discuss the implementation of the Mukhyamantri Bal Uday Yojana by the Women and Child Development Department in collaboration with UNICEF at Labhandi, Raipur.

She said it is a unique scheme which prevents children from becoming criminals and guides them towards a bright future.

The scheme targets children going out from child care institutions after completing 18 years of age.

Under the scheme, 108 children of 69 child care institutions in the state have been identified in the first phase, an official Communication said.

The objective of the meeting was to apprise the Urban Development team of Assam about the remarkable efforts being made by Madhya Pradesh for urban sanitation and disposal of legacy waste.

In the Swachh Sarvekshan-2022, Madhya Pradesh has received the honour of being the number one state in the country. Apart from this, Indore and Bhopal, the number one clean cities of the country, have also left their mark in the world. More than 80 per cent civic bodies of the state have increased their cleanliness ranking. Presently, the urban bodies of the state are busy in the preparations for the upcoming Swachh Sarvekshan-2023.

Avaada Energy gets LoI for 400MW solar project from GUVNL

majorAvaada Energyon Thursday received a letter of intent (LoI) from theGujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd(GUVNL) to set up a 400 MW (DC) solar project in Gujarat. The company has won 200 MW under base capacity at a tariff of Rs 2.75/kWh and another 200 MW under green shoe option at a tariff of Rs 2.71/kWh from GUVNL under tariff-based competitive bidding process followed by an e-reverse auction.
As per the bid terms, the solar power generated from the project will be supplied to GUVNL for 25 years, and the projects will be commissioned within 18 months from the date of execution of the power purchase agreements (PPAs). The solar project has the potential to provide green power to some five lakh households.
