Rs 20.67 crore approved for Khelo India Games in Panchkula

The Central Government has approved financial assistance of Rs 20.67 crore for the fourth edition of Khelo India Games to be held from November 21 to December 5 in Haryana.

Giving information in this regard, Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sandeep Singh said there would be an agreement between the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Haryana Government for organising the games.

He informed that this was the fourth edition of Khelo India Youth Games to be held in Panchkula, which was a national-level sports competition of its kind. This competition brings out the best young sports talents from across the country. Athletes selected under Khelo India are awarded an annual Scholarship of Rs 6.28 lakh, which includes an out-of-pocket allowance of Rs10,000 per month. He informed that the main objective of the Khelo India Games was to build and strengthen the sports ecosystem throughout India so that more players could win medals in the upcoming Olympic Games.

Despite slowdown, Punjab govt meets 85% of revenue target

Despite lockdown and economic downturn amid Covid, the has been able to better manage its finances in the last financial year as compared to the previous fiscal.

The revised estimates of the governments finances for 2020-21 reveal that the state had managed to achieve 84.62 per cent of its revenue targets for the last fiscal. In 2019-20, before the pandemic, the state had managed to achieve just 75.48 per cent of its targeted revenue collection.

The accounts for 2020-21 show that the state had achieved 81.84 per cent of its estimated tax revenue collection (Rs 40,595.81 crore against target of Rs 49,845.61 crore) and 48.59 per cent of its targeted non-tax revenue (Rs 3,909.92 crore against a target of Rs 8,045.99 crore).

Comparatively, in the previous year, Punjab had achieved just 78.47 per cent of its targeted tax revenue and 47.91 per cent of its targeted non-tax revenue. It may be mentioned that in the past several years, the collection of non-tax revenue in the state has always been low, in spite of the issue being deliberated upon and this being a focus area for improving the states finances.

Colleges told to compile RTI data

The Higher Education Department has asked the deputy directors of the department and public information officers/principals of the government colleges, as well as colleges, to compile data for submission of the annual report of RTI to the state Information Commissioner and Education Secretary, and send it to the directorate of education and RTI cell through mail by May 31. The data to be submitted includes application received, appeals received and disposed off, RTI fee, additional fee received in respect of institutions, offices and institutions and other details.

The NSUI has written a letter to the Chief Minister, in which it demanded that college and university students should be vaccinated on priority. The NSUI also sought special assistance for the children, who lost their parents or the breadwinner to Covid, on the lines of the J&K administration. The States Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaaz greeted the devotees on the occasion of Yamunotri shrine being reopened for the summer. Stating that the government had postponed the Char Dham Yatra to mitigate the Covid-19 risk, he said that considering the sentiments of the devotees, the Char Dham Devasthanam Board has been directed to facilitate online darshan of the shrines for the devotees.

The government will be able to open the Char Dham Yatra once the situation normalises.

It is pertinent to mention here that apart from the Char Dham Yatra being postponed, various Covid guidelines have to be followed by the limited number of priests allowed in the shrines to conduct the daily ritual worship of the deities in the Char Dham shrines.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) appreciated the efforts of the Yogi Adityanath government for working on the formula of trace, test and treat and admitted that officials were going door-to-door for testing people in the rural areas.

In its report referring to the major campaign to prevent Corona in rural areas of UP, the WHO, described how the approached houses in 97941 villages of 75 districts to check the infection along with isolated patients and providing them medical kits.
Various WHO teams visited 10,000 homes in rural UP to cross check the Yogi governments Covid management on the ground. The team learnt about the condition of Covid management in villages themselves and quizzed patients about medical facilities they were getting.

The JEPC has prepared the digital content which is study material consisting of written text and video clips. With the rise in corona cases in the past few weeks in a bid to provide classroom-like Education experience at Home and reduce educational loss due to lockdowns, the Jharkhand school education and Literacy (SEL) department has asked teachers to provide TEACHING to students through digital content. The department has asked teachers to focus on teaching once again through digital content.

The Jharkhand government in the past few months has launched various innovative ways of teaching. The education department last year launched two educational applications for students of class 1 to class 12. The first App namely Learnytic will be dedicated for the students of class 9 to class 12, while another App namely Digischool for students of class 1 to class 8.

The two apps, which were launched last year are very handy and convenient for students. The app for class 9 to class 12 contains e-book, regular syllabus, revised syllabus, digital content, video and animation contents, model questions papers and their answers. Its a complete package.

Bihar CM launches ‘HIT Covid App’ to ensure regular tracking, monitoring of home isolated patients

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Monday launched an exclusive mobile App to ensure regular monitoring and tracking of all those covid-19 patients who are in Home isolation across the state.

The App has been named as HIT Covid App. Here HIT stands for home isolation tracking.

The CM further said that the App installed on the tablets assigned to Health workers/ANM spread across the state would start providing information on the health status of home isolated patients in their area.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has urged Union Minister for Industries Piyush Goyal that steel industries should be allowed to use 20 per cent quantity of oxygen produced in Chhattisgarh.

During his telephonic discussion to discuss the corona situation, Modi had assured Baghel that he will consider his request to allow the use of Oxygen in Chhattisgarh in 80:20 (medical and industrial) ratio. Baghel spoke over the telephone with Goyal over the issue and was asked by the Minister to send a proposal. In a letter, the Chief Minister said the total daily oxygen production capacity of various units in Chhattisgarh is 462 tonnes.

Under normal circumstances, oxygen is supplied to the steel makers in the state by the oxygen manufacturers. But due to corona cases, the Centre has banned the industrial use of oxygen. The Chief Minister mentioned that oxygen producing units are suffering due to lack of demand for oxygen while the steel making units in the state are shut due to lack of oxygen.

Keeping this in view, the steel makers should be allowed the use of 20 percent quantity of oxygen produced in the state, he said. If the demand for additional medical oxygen arises, the supply of oxygen to the steel units may be stopped immediately, he added.

Madhya Pradesh: Crisis management groups formed to fight corona at block and village level

With the Coronavirus pandemic spreading into villages, the has decided to formcrisis management groupsat block andvillage level. In the urban areas, these groups would be formed at the ward level.

An order issued by the state Home department in this regard said that in line with the crisis management groups working at the district level, the state government has decided to have similar groups at the block and village level in the rural areas and ward level in the urban areas.
These groups at the block level would be headed by SDO (revenue) and SDO (Police).

Chief executive officer (CEO) of Janpad Panchayat, chief municipal officer, block medical officer, project officer (Women & child development department), representatives of local MP and MLA, peoples’ representative nominated by district collector, local persons of repute and representatives of NGOs will be members of crisis management groups at block level.

These projects have committed investments of over Rs 6,900 crore which will provide employment opportunity to over 19,000 people directly and indirectly. Besides, the state government has also approved the project by a renowned company to set up a plant for manufacturing High Grade Steel Bars in Kutch with a total proposed investment of Rs 500 crore, providing employment to 1,000 people in the region
