Odisha government to set up 14 cyber police stations

The Odisha government has decided to set up 14 new cyber Police stations at different places, including one each at Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. At present only four cyber police stations, one each atCuttack, Berhampur, Rourkela and Sambalpur are operational in the state.

At least 779 cybercrime cases have been registered from January 1 till May 31 this year across the state. Cybercrime offences increased by an alarming 31% in Odisha in 2020 as compared to 2019. Statistics of Odisha police said altogether 1931 cybercrime cases were registered last year as against 1475 cases in 2019.

Slow investigation and poor conviction have often raised questions on the efficacy of cops in solving such complex cases. Going by the latestNational Crime Records Bureau(NCRB) statistics, not a single case has resulted in conviction in the state between 2018 and 2020.

Other states seek land for pilgrim facility centres

The state has been offered land inTirupathi-ThirumalabyAndhra Pradeshgovernment, in exchange for land atNilackalfor setting up a rest house forSabarimaladevotees from Andhra Pradesh.

A conference of ministers and senior officials from Andhra Pradesh, ,PuducherryandTamil Naduwere convened by devaswom and SC/ST welfare minister K Radhakrishnan on Tuesday, wherein the participating states discussed and raised their requests to ensure a safe and secure pilgrimage season.

In September 2015, theUDFgovernment had decided to give five acres owned byTravancore Devaswom Board(TDB) at Nilackal to Telangana to build and operate accommodation and facilitation centre for the Sabarimala pilgrims from there, with land ownership vesting with TDB. The State Government had also allotted five acres to Karnataka government through an agreement between TDB and Karnataka government.

PWD seeks MoEF clearance for Wayanad mega tunnel project

The public works department (PWD) has approached the ministry of Environment and forests (MoEF) seeking clearance for the proposed 8km-longmega tunnel road projectbetweenKozhikodeandWayanadin the Western Ghat region.

The Rs 2,080-crore four-lane tunnel project aims at reducing the travel time, mainly for interstate motorists betweenKeralaandKarnataka, by half an hour. Government documents submitted to the MoEF show that around 63% of the land required for the project go through forest land. Of the 54.62 hectares of geographical area that will be acquired for the project, 33.72 hectares fall under the ambit of forest.

Meanwhile, ecologists have raised the fundamental question that how can such a mega project be undertaken without conducting a detailed study on the impact of the of the region.

Karnataka IT exports to touch $150 billion by 2026: Minister CN Ashwath Narayan

Karnataka has an ambitious roadmap to touch $150 billion in IT exports over the next five years. A McKinsey report said Indias IT sector is expected to touch $300-$350 billion over the next five years, growing 10% a year.

In the next five years, we want to increase it to $150 billion from the current $58 billion. We also want to accelerate IT exports in Mysuru, Mangaluru and Hubbali clusters from 2% to 5% which translates to Rs 50,000 crore over five years from the current Rs 10,000 crore. However, these are pure-play IT Services export numbers, we haven’t factored in GCCs or startups and with that, itll be even bigger. The Indian government plans to become a $1 trillion digital economy, and we want to have a 30%-40% share. If we have to achieve this, we have to accelerate Growth beyond Bengaluru andCovidhas shown us the way.

The expert committee took the opinion of people from across the state, in which 52% voted for Vijayawada-Guntur as the capital city, 10.72% in favour ofVisakhapatnam, while 7% voted for Kurnool as capital city.

Nearly 50% drop in number of critical patients in Maharashtra

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar okays 900 acres for Maruti plant in Sonipat

Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday approved automobile giant Marutis plan to set up its third manufacturing plant in the state. In the city to preside over a meeting of theHaryanaEnterprises Promotion Center, Khattar announced that the plan had been finalised during ongoing talks withMarutito set up the plant on around 900 acres of land at Kharkhoda in Sonipat district.
