Rs 40 cr approved for Ambala domestic airport

Haryana Home and Health Minister Anil Vij today said an amount of Rs 40 crore had been approved by the Ministry of Civil Aviation for the construction of domestic airport in Ambala Cantonment.

The minister said a new terminal would be built right next to the Ambala Air Force Station, and the runway of air force station was to be used for the airport. It will have flights for Srinagar and Lucknow. The construction of domestic airport terminal will start soon.

In December 2018, the Civil Airport Project was approved, under the Udan 3.0 scheme, but the project remained on papers only as the land for the project was not finalised.

Earlier this year, the District Administration and the air force authorities agreed to construct the airport on the DEFENCE land in Ambala Cantonment.

Punjab Cabinet meet: Stage carriage vehicles exempted from tax

In a bid to relieve the transport sector from financial losses suffered due to a lockdown imposed during the second wave of Covid-19, the Cabinet has approved exemption from the Motor Vehicle Tax to contract carriage vehicles (up to 16 seater), buses of religious organisations and stage carriage buses (up to 35 seater).

With these decisions, the existing rates will be reduced from Rs 30,000 to Rs 20,000 per bus per year for all types of stage carriage buses (up to 35 seats, private/STUs) and to withdraw 5 per cent annual increase in the rate of Motor Vehicle Tax. Besides, it will give exemption from the Motor Vehicle Tax to contract carriages up to 16 seater from May 20, 2020 to December 31, 2020 and buses of religious places from March 23, 2020 to December 31, 2020.

The Cabinet has also decided to reduce 10 per cent Simple Interest and 3 per cent penal interest on outstanding dues of developers such as of the EDC to 8.5 per cent compounded annually in urban development authorities. Besides, the Cabinet also decided to drop normal and penal rates of interest to 7.5 per cent compounded annually and 10 per cent compounded annually in future for new as well as ongoing projects.

Himachal Pradesh Police clinch silver award in e-governance

The Himachal Pradesh Police have won the National e-Governance Silver award for their Third Eye, evidence-based policing with CCTV surveillance matrix in the industrial hub of Baddi.

Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjay Kundu said: Our Command and Control Centre and CCTV Surveillance Matrix (Project Third Eye), which we implemented in Baddi police district, has been awarded the Silver Category Award for National e-Governance-2022 in the district-level category for 2021-22, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievance, Government of India.

He said: It is an exemplary achievement and our efforts have borne fruit where we were able to encourage industries to contribute. The area has around 5,000 units and heinous crimes such as murders and dacoity were solved. It will be replicated in other districts with intelligence traffic management system and automatic number plate in major tourist clusters. I congratulate Superintendent of Police Rohit Malpani who had initiated it during his tenure in Baddi.

States biggest wildlife rescue centre coming up in Corbett

A wildlife rescue centre being developed on 30 hectare area in Dhela zone of Corbett will be the biggest facility of its kind in the state. According to officials, a 30 strong staff including veterinary surgeon, physician and anaesthesia expert will work at this centre. A sum of about Rs 10 crore has been spent on this project so far. The part of the centre prepared so far is already being used for treatment of tiger, leopard and elephant while after completion, the centre will also be able to provide treatment to bear, snakes, birds and other wildlife. Currently, this centre is being used to provide treatment to five leopards and two tigers.

Corbett national park director Rahul said that after Prime Minister Narendra Modis visit, the plan for establishment of this wildlife rescue centre was announced in 2019. The total cost of the project is about Rs 19 crore out of which a sum of about Rs 10 crore has already been spent on the facility which is under construction. The five leopards brought here for treatment include two each from Rishikesh and Rudrapur and one from Nainital. Two of these leopards were found to be attacking villagers while three were rescued in an injured condition. The big cats under treatment will be released in the jungles after they are found to be fit for release, added Rahul.

Saryu Nahar National Project Inaugurated In UP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has Launched the Saryu Nahar National Project in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh.

The project will provide water for Irrigation to over 14 lakh hectares of land and benefit about 29 lakh farmers, mainly in east Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya were among those present at the project inauguration program.

The project has been completed at a price of over Rs 9,800 crore, out of which quite Rs 4,600 crore was provisioned within the last four years.

Health scheme for all having income less than Rs 8L/annum

Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the Apki Adhikar, Apke Sarkar, Apke Dwar scheme has been a success so far helping Government reach to the last mile.

Addressing a North Chotanagpur divisional level program of the outreach campaign at Hazaribagh on Saturday, Chief Minister said that so far 2 lakh 50 thousand complaints have been registered under this scheme, out of which 2 lakh 20 thousand complaints have been promptly executed.

Hemant Soren announced that for the treatment of serious diseases in the state, the government would help in the treatment of every person whose income is less than 8 lakhs.

Mining companies have been told that 75 percent of the workers, ryots and displaced people have to be kept, then only mining will be allowed. The contract up to one crore is to be made available to the displaced. The government is soon going to set up a displacement commission. The appointment rules are being finalized.

Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre develops technique to quickly identify Omicron variant

In a major breakthrough,Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre(GBRC) scientists developed a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique for faster detection of theOmicronvariant of coronavirus.

The technique involves cDNA (complementary DNA a copy of messenger RNA through reverse transcript) prepared from RNA isolated from the viral sample. It is followed by the conventional PCR which provides fast results in comparison to Sequencing of whole virus using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and also provides cost-effective technique to scrutinize samples in remote labs.
