Assam govt signs MoU with IIM Bangalore for training young professionals

The Assam government signed an MoU with the Indian Institute Of Management (IIM) Bangalore with an aim to bring transformative changes in Health, Education, Women, and child development in the state, officials said. The MoU has been inked for a two-year Chief Minister’s Young Professional Programme (CMYPP) which would start next year. The is aiming to develop a cadre of committed and competent leaders and facilitators to support the government administration under this programme.

The CMYPP has been planned for providing short-term catalytic support to the District Administration to improve program delivery in the identified sectors like health, education, women, and child development.

CMYPP is designed to support district administration in implementing priority sectors like NHM, RMSA, SSA, POSHAN, and other government flagship programmes.

PRARAMBHA: Policy for children launched

A State Cabinet meeting held on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took 17 major decisions pertaining to the Departments of Odia Language, Literature and Culture; Skill development and Technical Education; Women and Child Development; Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment; General Administration and Public Grievances; Parliamentary Affairs; Planning and Convergence and Resources“>Water Resources.

The major decisions included approval of an Odisha State Policy for Children, 2022 called PRARAMBHA aimed at furthering childrens right to survival, protection, physical Health, mental health, education, participation and other milestones required for their optimal development and overall wellbeing.

The historic Odisha State Port Policy-2022 envisaging holistic development of maritime ecosystem in Odisha, promotion of private-sector development in maritime sector with an idea of #Kalingadvantage and creation of EMPLOYMENT opportunities for youths also received Cabinet approval.

Government identifies 2.5 lakh ration shops to be upgraded as one-stop shops for providing e-services

The government has identified nearly 2.5 lakh fair price shops (FPS) or ration shops to upgrade them as one-stop shops for providing different facilities including for e-Services such as for paying utility bills and submittingPANapplication. So far 39,000 such shops have been on-boarded as Common Service Centres (CSCs).

Officials said this move is set to have a huge impact considering that thousands of beneficiaries visit these shops and they can play a key role in taking e-services to the doorstep of the poor.

According to the food ministry, around 10,000 ration shops inMaharashtrahave got the ISO certification and Nadu is also working towards adopting a similar model of certification of the ration shops in the state.

Meanwhile, the Centre has urged all the states and UTs to identify and develop 75 model ration shops in each district and share the list with the food ministry.
There are a total of over five lakh ration shops across the country and nearly 80 crore identified beneficiaries get subsidised foodgrain under theNational Food Security Actfrom these outlets. The government has also been distributing free foodgrain under the PMGarib KalyanAnn Yojna through these ration shops.

Karnataka’s ‘skill connect’ portal for jobs to see upgrade

KarnatakaIT ministerCN Ashwath Narayan said the government was in the process of upgrading the Karnataka Skill Connect Portal, which was launched early this year as a digital platform to bring together institutions, skilling agencies, workforce and employers.

KSCPis a job portal with -specific add-ons: Provides psychometric test and technical skill assessments, besides keeps all stakeholders up to date with opportunities and avenues.

As on date, KSCP lists 6,828 jobs, 418 internships, 1,172 apprenticeship vacancies and has 148 industries and 59 institutions registered. The portal intends to provide 1 crore opportunities across these categories.

Kanti Velugu scheme to resume next yr

chief ministerK Chandrasekhar Rao, on Thursday, announced next phase of Kanti Velugu, an eye screening scheme to achieve avoidable blindness free status, which would be taken up from January 18, 2023.

CM KCR also held a review meeting on Health Infrastructure, new speciality hospitals and other issues atPragati Bhavanon Thursday. He said the previous programme was a huge success and helped many people especially the old aged in the rural areas.

The state had conducted the scheme in 2018 and held camps in each village, wherein free spectacles were provided to the needy. The CM directed officials to take action.

Andhra Pradesh bags five National Fisheries Development Board awards

Andhra Pradeshbagged five Awards that are given annually by theNational Development Board(NFDB). Nellore has been selected as best marine district. Tirumaneni Naga Raju was selected as best marine farmer (seabass – Eluru), and Saptagiri Hatchery from Kakinada district was selected as best hatchery. Naresh Kumar of Reddy Drugs & Labs in Kovvur in East Godavari district, andKavitha Reddy of Artemia Technology Infusion(for technology infusion) were also awarded.

NFDB, under the department of fisheries, animal husbandry and Dairy, government of India, instituted awards in selected categories to felicitate fish farmers who contributed to the Growth of fisheries sector by adopting improved technologies and practices in aquaculture and fisheries on the World Fisheries Day.

Laadli Laxmi funds for girls marriage, not education: Goa government

The state has amended its flagship Laadli Laxmi scheme which provided financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to young Women for their Education, business, or marriage to exclude education and business. Thus, young women will now only be able to get the for their marriage.

The state has also shortened the window during which a person can avail of the scheme. An applicant now has to apply within six months of registration, as opposed to one year earlier. Director of women and child developmentDeepali Naiksaid that earlier, the beneficiary could utilise the money for education or business.

The Laadli Laxmi scheme was launched by former chief ministerManohar Parrikarin July 2012, one of the states flagship programmes, with the intention of addressing the undesirable tendency of female foeticides, and with the aim of erasing the general perception that the birth of a girl in the family is a burden on her parents or guardian during marriage.

The eligibility criteria for the scheme includes birth and/or domicile in Goa, and in case, the applicants parents income cant exceed Rs 3 lakh.

Maharashtra: Ministerial panel to keep track of border litigation

Besides the appointment of a leading lawyer, the set up a two-member committee comprising higher and technical Education minister Chandrakant Dada Patil and excise minister Shamburaj Desai to monitor the on-going litigation before theSupreme Courton theMaharashtra-Karnataka border dispute.

The decision was taken at the first meeting of the high-level committee headed by chief minister Eknath Shinde to resolve the border dispute between the two states. Besides Shinde, the meeting was attended by deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan. NCP president Sharad Pawar and leader of opposition Ajit Pawar did not attend the meeting though both are members.

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Monday that this time theInternational Gita Mahotsav(IGM)-2022 would be more special for the devotees coming from all spheres as the President of India,Draupadi Murmuwould especially be coming to attend this grand festival of Holy Gita.
Khattar said that Haryana was geared up for IGM-2022, the President will formally inaugurate the main programmes with Gita Yagya at Brahma Sarovar on November 29 while the Mahotsav celebrations will start from November 19.
He said that on November 29, 2022, the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu will formally inaugurate the main programmes to be held during the IGM-2022 with Gita Yagya at Brahma Sarovar.
