To ensure seamless implementation of ongoing major infrastructure development projects in the State with election just about less than a year away, Punjab Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan on Tuesday directed all the departments concerned to accelerate the pace of the work to complete these projects on time.

The Chief Secretary issued these directions while chairing a virtual meeting of the Public Management Committee to review the status of implementation, progress, and completion of 49 major Infrastructure projects being undertaken in the state at an estimated cost of Rs 10,533 crore.

The major projects reviewed included 24×7 pan city surface water supply for Ludhiana, Patiala, Amritsar, and Jalandhar, Aerotropolis near international airport in Mohali, rejuvenation of Chhoti and Badi Nadi in Patiala, large surface-based piped water supply schemes in various districts, Kajauli water works, water supply and sewerage project at NAC Mehraj in Bathinda, Shahpur Kandi dam project, new bus stand in Patiala, ring road in Bathinda, completion of construction of various judicial courts complexes, and other projects related to RAILWAY over and under bridges.

Haryana govt approves purchase of 200 acre land for AIIMS in Rewari

The Haryana government has approved the purchase of 200 acre of land for the Aiims to be constructed in Rewari, as well as the purchase of land for seven other projects.

The approval was given in the meeting of the High Power Land Purchase Committee to buy the land available on e-Bhoomi portal for nine projects.

This approval was given after the landowners agreed on the price.

The approval for the purchase of land for these seven projects cleared the way for the bypass in Hathin.

This will help Hathin to get rid of traffic congestion. Not only this, it will also speed up the development of Hathin.

Apart from this, the landowners also agreed on the price for the construction of a Water Treatment Plant at Rajound in Kaithal district, after which the land was approved to be purchased for the plant.

The purchase of land required to construct a four-lane road from Kalanaur to Kail in Yamunanagar district was approved.

Land was also approved for the bridge to be constructed between Bibipur to Chanalheri, Pihowa in Kurukshetra district and between Rania and Kuttabharh in Sirsa district.

Approval has been granted to purchase land for 580 meter approach road forUnani Medical Collegein Akera village of Nuh district.

With the recertification of ODF++, Dehradun became the first city in Uttarakhand to achieve this status. On Tuesday, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) received the ODF++ recertification in the field survey of Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U) conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The three status of ODF (Open Defecation Free), ODF + and ODF ++ under SBM-U is given to the cities on the basis of easy access to clean and functional public toilets for local residents besides being free from open defecation.

According to the Dehradun municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, this recertification has made the city eligible to get 500 marks in Swachh Survekshan 2021 and will considerably contribute to the citys aim of achieving a rank among the top 100 cleanest cities in the country. Our team has worked hard to improve sanitation facilities in Dehradun which helped us to maintain this status. We are optimistic that we would get a better ranking in Swachh Survekshan too, asserted Pandey.

Uniform growth states agenda: Rural Minister

The was committed to uniform development of the state. This was stated by Virender Kanwar, Rural Development Minister, while addressing people on the Himachal Day.

He said that despite corona virus pandemic, the development works in the district continued uninterrupted. He said that Rs 46 crore were spent on MNERGA works in the previous year while Rs 110 crore were spent in the past three years. As many as 119 farmers were provided Rs 2.8 crore for solar fencing in the district to protect crops while 900 hectare land area would be covered under Shiva Project. He said that over 843 hectare area was already identified and being developed.

Virender Kanwar said that 4,417 families were provided assistance for house construction and over Rs 60 crore were given to the beneficiaries in the state.

The official wheat procurement agencies in Uttar Pradesh have purchased one lakh metric tons of wheat from 17,440 farmers till April 12 since the procurement commenced on April 1.

The government has set up 6,000 procurement centres across the state for procurement of wheat at minimum support price from the farmers.

With the aim to double the income of the farmers, the UP government has introduced new devices and technology so that the farmers may receive the best price of their produce.

In this regard, for the first time in the country, the has introduced the electronic point of purchase (e-POP) machines for eliminating middlemen from the Marketing process while ensuring transparency in the purchase of wheat.

Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country to initiate procurement by providing biometric authentication through e-POP device in wheat purchase with the aim to benefit real farmers and eliminate the role of middlemen and unauthorised persons in procurement under the minimum price support scheme.

The first procurement of wheat through e-POP was successfully made at Kundarki purchase centre of Moradabad district on April 7. The procurement of wheat through e-POP machines will start at various other purchase centres in the state soon.

In the Rabi marketing year 2021-22, procurement of wheat directly from farmers under the minimum support price scheme commenced on April 1, 2021. The government has increased the MSP of wheat from Rs 1,925 in 2020-21 to Rs 1,975 per quintal in 2021-22. Besides, the number of procurement centres has increased from 5,000 last year to 6,000 this time.

For the first time in the country, the Yogi Adityanath government has decided to involve Farmers Producer Organisations (FPOs) in the procurement of wheat. As many as 150 FPOs have been roped in the state to start with.

There are indications that several old relics along with ancient statues are being found near Karbala next to the Chhadwa Dam in Gadokhar in Hazaribagh district.

The ruins of an old building are visible on the five-acre plot. In such a situation, demand is being made, if excavation is done here then also the remains can be obtained.

The Hazaribagh-Katkamasandi road was known as old Varanasi Road in ancient times. Pedestrians going from Cuttack to Varanasi used this route and Bahoranpur is also located on the old road.

It is noted that the tourism department of the State already developing neighbouring district Chatra as Budhist pilgrimage now finding the relics in Hazaribgh is emerging as a new Budhist pilgrimage in the State, which can invite foreign tourists in large numbers in the State.

Two mega food park at Bihar

The MFP at Motipur will be developed on 78 acres of land along the national highway. There will be 30 food-processing units inside the park, having the potential to generate a minimum of 5,000 EMPLOYMENT.

A similar park is being developed in the Khagadia district in Bihar.

These two MFPs will be in addition to an Agro-Processing Cluster (APC) which is being developed in the Begusarai district of the state.

Though the central scheme on MFP is being implemented by the ministry of Food Processing industries since 2008, it has now become acomponentof the new central sector umbrella scheme (PMKSY).

The MFP scheme has multiple components including the creation of processing Infrastructure near the farm, transportation, Logistics, centralized processing centres, effluent treatment plant and other enabling facilities such as roads, electricity and water.

In response to an appeal by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to set up quarantine centres in the villages to stem the spread of a resurgent Covid-19. Chhattisgarh is reeling under a strong Covid wave. In the past three days, more than 10,000 fresh positive cases were reported in 24 hours.

On Friday, 11,447 cases were registered and 63 Covid patients lost their lives. So far 4,654 patients have died in Chhattisgarh.

The Panchayat and Rural Development Department on Saturday issued directives to set up quarantine centres in villages, a press release said.

Outsiders coming to the village will have to stay in the centres like last year.

These centres will be outside the village Panchayat. The Panchayat and Rural Development department will ensure that the are quickly set up and operated as per the directives of the Health Department.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan virtually inaugurated 156 micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) during the program held at Impact Industry Sejwani Pithampur industrial area. 36 MSMEs have started functioning where as other 120 industries are in different stages of construction and start functioning very soon.

An of total Rs 13800 crore has been done in the establishment of 156 MSMEs which includes automobile, food, pharma, packaging, rubber and various other sectors of industries and around 20000 people will get job in these industries including the Women employees. The GM of MSME Pithampur zone Sunil Tripathi told The Pioneer that around 940 MSMEs are presently functional in all the 6 sectors of Pithampur industrial area and now this 156 MSMEs will also join the elite club of 940 MSMEs already functional.

GTU seeks Rs 1 crore exam fee from colleges

TheGujarat Technological Universityhas sought Rs 1-crore exam fee from government-run engineering colleges that run degree and diploma courses. The payments are mandatorily to be made to university ahead of any exam schedule.

TheGTUhas demanded 12% interest from each of the government engineering college on pending fees. The government engineering colleges have not paid the requisite sum for 2019 summer and winter terms.
