Jkhands MMR rank rises to sixth place

Jharkhandtopped the chart in the India and Empowered Action Group category and improved to sixth place on the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in the recently released special report of the Registrar General of India.

According to the latest report for the period between 2017 and 2019, Jharkhands MMR has improved to 61 maternal deaths per one lakh live births from over 72 deaths per one lakh live births. The registrar general released the report as part of the goals (SDG) set by the United Nations Organisation to reduce the global MMR which mandated that it should not be beyond 70 deaths per one lakh live births.

With only 61 deaths per every one lakh live births, Jharkhand has topped the chart in India and Empowered Action Group category which included states like Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh andUttarakhand.

Appoint nodal officers to manage functioning of unregistered temples

The has directed the administrative heads of 21 districts to appoint nodal officers to manage the functioning of 1,958 unregistered temples in the wake of large scale irregularities over transactions of assets by priests. Instructions have also been issued to furnish revenue records of 2,973 acres of land, worth several crores, belonging to these temples.

It has been seen that caretakers are selling properties donated by our forefathers for temples, he said. We want to strengthen the law to protect religious properties so that they are maintained better and used for social causes, the minister added.After the appointment of the nodal officers, who will be additional collector rank bureaucrats, these unregistered temples will function under the direct supervision of theBihar State Religious Trust Council(BSRTC).

As per the Bihar Hindu Religious Trusts Act 1950, all public temples in the state must be registered with the BSRTC.

Womens respect is part of Chhattisgarhs culture: CM

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said respect and honour to Women is part of the Chhattisgarh culture and that is why the state stood first in sex ratio across the country.

This is also the reason why women in the state were scaling new heights in all spheres, he added.

Baghel was addressing the people in the 27th episode of the radio programme Lokvaani aired from Akashvani on Chhattisgarh Sarkar – Naari Shakti Ke Sarokaar.

The Percentage of women members in the Chhattisgarh Assembly is more than any other House in the country, he said.

Also, there was a provision of 50 percent reservation for women in to Panchayati Raj institutions in the state, he said.

The Chief Minister said the state was planning to set up a women’s security cell in each district to ensure a safe and secured Environment for every female.

These efforts of Chhattisgarh have been appreciated by NITI Aayog. The state has been ranked first in gender Equality in the India-Index report for 2020-21, he said.

Loans are provided to women Self-Help Groups at 3 percent Simple Interest rate per annum, he said.

For daughters who want to become self-employed by joining Self-Help Groups through the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission, there is a Bihaan scheme, he said.

MP to waive off power bills of Rs 6,400 cr of 88 lakh consumers

In a major relief to people amid the downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday said his government would waive off electricity bills to the tune of Rs 6,400 crore of 88 lakh domestic consumers.

The electricity bills of 88 lakh domestic consumers amounting to Rs 6,400 crore will be waived off. The interest of farmers who became defaulters because of flaws in the loan waiver scheme of the previous regime will be paid by the , he said. Chouhan said his government had constructed 23 lakh homes for the poor, with the target being 30 lakh by the end of this year.

The remaining premium of Rs 2200 crore of crop Insurance scheme not paid by the previous regime has now been paid. A provision of Rs 8,000 crore has been made for the construction of roads in the current year. If national highways are included in it, then roads worth Rs 31,000 crore are being constructed in the state.

The states Growth rate at current prices is 19.7 per cent, which is the maximum in the country, while per capita income on the basis of current prices was Rs 1.24 lakh per annum, up from only Rs 15,000 under the Congress regime, which was a major achievement.

In 10 years, MSU pays Rs 9 crore aid to over 20,000 students

More than 20,000 students have benefited fromMS Universitys welfare scheme for poor students in a decade, which had been launched in 2012.

The first university in Gujarat to have initiated such a scheme for students based on their economic status,MSUhas granted financial support to the tune of Rs 9 crore so far.
In the first year of its launch, the publicly-funded university had granted scholarships to the tune of Rs 4.68 lakh to 138 student beneficiaries, for which a seed capital of Rs 5 lakh was collected.

This time, in the academic year 2021-22, a total of 2,121 students have benefited as a Scholarship to the tune of Rs Rs 98.76 lakh has been sanctioned.

Patent wing plan for state varsities finds few takers

Rajasthan State Policy on 2021-26 has failed to attract the universities in the state. The policy has a provision for all state and private universities to develop Intellectual Property Cells (IPC) to boost innovation and creation among the students. Of 87 universities, only eight of them have developed the cell completely.

The policy, supported by the department of Science and Technology, was formally announced in February 2021. Targeting to provide financial and technical assistance to innovators, it provides help in scaling up the project for commercial and academic purposes.

The universities that have adopted the cell are Rajasthan Technical University, Kota University,Rajasthan University, Jai Narain Vyas University, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture and Technology, Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University, Manipal University and Banasthali University.

Government releases norms for Strengthening of Pharmaceutical industry (SPI) Scheme

The Centre has assigned an outlay of500 crore for the period from fiscal FY 21-22 to FY 25-26.

The main objectives of the scheme are to strengthen the existing facilities in order to make India a global leader in the Pharma Sector.

Under the Scheme, financial assistance to pharma clusters will be provided for creation of Common Facilities.

This will not only improve the quality but also ensure the sustainable Growth of clusters.

Further, in order to upgrade the production facilities of SMEs and MSMEs so as to meet national and international regulatory standards (WHO-GMP or Schedule-M), interest subvention or capital subsidy on their capital loans will be provided, which will further facilitate the growth in volumes as well as in quality.

Soyabean meal output up, but export slips

A drop in crushing and slow meal off-take amid high prices in the international market for Indian origin soyameal has led to a decline in soyabean meal exports.
The export of soyabean meal in the period October-February 2022 has stood at 4.23 lakh tonne as against 13.55 lakh tonne in the same period a year ago, according toSoybean Processors Association of India(SOPA).

Soyabean oil year runs from October to September.

Madhya Pradeshis a leading soyabean producing state contributing over 70 per cent to total national output.

Exports of soyabean meal in February were recorded at 50,000 ton in comparison to 3.52 lakh ton in the corresponding period a year ago, according to the trade body. Exports in February were 50,000 tonne, lower by 55 per cent from January this year. SOPA has also revised downward crushing of soyabean for the year 2021-22 to 88 lakh ton from earlier estimated 90 lakh ton while local meal consumption has been revised down to 56 lakh tonne as against 58 lakh tonne
