In Haryana, no BPL card for having fridge, scooter

The Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) has questioned how can donated household items like a refrigerator or an old scooter, or a generations-old house disqualify a person from the states BPL list.

The commission made the observation in the case of a Sonepat resident, who was excluded from the BPL list, and summoned the administrative/principal secretary concerned. The Urban Projection Officer, Sonepat , submitted before the commission that if a household has a vehicle or has two or more rooms with pucca walls and roof or has a refrigerator or a landline or has a member earning more than Rs 10,000 per month or owns 2.5-acre or more of irrigated land, it will be excluded from the BPL list. The Bench comprising Chairperson Justice SK Mittal (retd) and member Deep Bhatia observed, There are many grounds for disqualification of a BPL applicant which are basic necessities of life and are generally found in every household, including the ones living below the POVERTY-line”>Poverty Line.

Haryana overtakes Punjab in providing logistics infrastructure to industry

Haryana has overtaken neighbouring Punjab in providing Infrastructure to trade and Industry. While Haryana is placed at No 2, up from sixth position in 2019, Punjab has slipped to No 3 from number two position.

According to the latest report of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the logistics ease across different states, 2021, Gujarat has been ranked at the No 1 position.

Haryanas No 2 position in 2021, an increase of four places compared to 2019, is credited to quality of Warehousing infrastructure, timeliness of cargo delivery and regulatory Environment and efficiency of regulatory Services in which the state had the highest score.

Himachal Govt plans policy for contract staff

The government is planning to bring in a new policy for 23,417 contractual employees. Minister for Town and Country Planning Suresh Bhardwaj, officiating on behalf of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, gave this information on the floor of the House.

Revenue Minister Mahender Thakur introduced the Himachal Pradesh Abadi Deh (record of rights) Bill 2021 in the Assembly.The Bill aims at giving land ownership rights to people living in Abadi Deh or Lal Dora areas of villages, as per the scheme notified by the Union Government.

Abadi Deh areas in Himachal have remained without rights of the proprietors being recorded, preparation of record or marking of boundaries through a survey.

This has resulted in disputes over boundary demarcation and identification of rights in dwelling and other areas.

States biggest wildlife rescue centre coming up in Corbett

A wildlife rescue centre being developed on 30 hectare area in Dhela zone of Corbett will be the biggest facility of its kind in the state. According to officials, a 30 strong staff including veterinary surgeon, physician and anaesthesia expert will work at this centre. A sum of about Rs 10 crore has been spent on this project so far. The part of the centre prepared so far is already being used for treatment of tiger, leopard and elephant while after completion, the centre will also be able to provide treatment to bear, snakes, birds and other wildlife. Currently, this centre is being used to provide treatment to five leopards and two tigers.

Corbett national park director Rahul said that after Prime Minister Narendra Modis visit, the plan for establishment of this wildlife rescue centre was announced in 2019. The total cost of the project is about Rs 19 crore out of which a sum of about Rs 10 crore has already been spent on the facility which is under construction. The five leopards brought here for treatment include two each from Rishikesh and Rudrapur and one from Nainital. Two of these leopards were found to be attacking villagers while three were rescued in an injured condition. The big cats under treatment will be released in the jungles after they are found to be fit for release, added Rahul.

Multi-level parking lots are also being built in different places to solve parking issues of visitors and tourists.

With the new government initiatives, new business opportunities are being made available in different sectors ranging from tourism and hospitality to traditional handicrafts. Developmental activities taking place in Kashi are set to create employment opportunities for the youth. Kashi is fast emerging as an economic centre of Purvanchal region.

Health scheme for all having income less than Rs 8L/annum

Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the Apki Adhikar, Apke Sarkar, Apke Dwar scheme has been a success so far helping Government reach to the last mile.

Addressing a North Chotanagpur divisional level program of the outreach campaign at Hazaribagh on Saturday, Chief Minister said that so far 2 lakh 50 thousand complaints have been registered under this scheme, out of which 2 lakh 20 thousand complaints have been promptly executed.

Hemant Soren announced that for the treatment of serious diseases in the state, the government would help in the treatment of every person whose income is less than 8 lakhs.

Mining companies have been told that 75 percent of the workers, ryots and displaced people have to be kept, then only mining will be allowed. The contract up to one crore is to be made available to the displaced. The government is soon going to set up a displacement commission. The appointment rules are being finalized.

Nitish Kumar flays his deputys claim, pitches for special status to Bihar

While pitching strongly for special category status toBihar, CMNitish Kumar virtually expressed displeasure with deputy CM Renu Devi, who is from the alliance partner BJP.

Nitish, taking a cue from the report with regard to Bihar, also said: It is clear from the Niti Aayog report that Bihar needs more Money and fund for its development. With the special status, the State Government will have to spend less money as its share in the centrally sponsored schemes. I will keep placing the demand strongly.

Incidentally, in the last four months, Niti Aayog in its reports issued since September has rated Bihar poorly on the parameters of development defined by it. Last month, the Niti Aayog had put Bihar at the bottom among all other states in Sustainable Development goals (SDG) targets aimed at improving the standard of living of households.

Chhattisgarh ranked first in making digital health IDs

Chhattisgarh has bagged the first prize in preparing digital Health IDs under Azadi ka Amrit Utsav of the Union Health Ministry.

Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharati Pravin Pawar awarded the prize on Universal Health Coverage Day on Monday.

The IDs were prepared by the state-run Health and Wellness Centers between November 16 and December 12.

A communiqu from the Health Department said 53,067 health IDs were prepared by Chhattisgarh, which formed 35 percent of the total 152,942 IDs prepared in the country.

Indores Daanpatra gets place in World Book of Records

Sugar output in Gujarat at 1.6L tonnes till Nov

With sugarcane crushing progressing well, cooperative sugar mills across Gujarat produced 1.66 lakh tonnes of sugar as of November 30, 2021, shows data compiled by the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA).

The operational sugar factories produced 1.65 lakh tonnes of sugar in the same period last year, ISMA data further shows.

Sugarcane crushing in Gujarat is progressing well. Sugar production is expected to rise 10% this season due to higher sugarcane acreage, said a source in Gujarat State Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (GSFCSF).

Sugar production, according to GSFCSF estimates, is expected to rise to 11.29 lakh tonnes in the 2021-22 season from around 10 lakh tonnes in 2020-21. Increased production of sugarcane is going to push up production of the sweetener this year, said players.
