Hamirpur 3rd cleanest rural district in country

Hamirpur has been ranked the third cleanest district in the country in the rural category and the first district in the state in the Swachh Bharat Mission rankings declared by the Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation today.

The Jal Jeevan Mission envisages to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual tap connections to all households in rural India by 2024.

Deputy Commissioner Debasweta Banik said under the drinking water and sanitation programme, all gram panchayats of the district had implemented source sustainability measures as mandatory Elements. She said these included recharge and reuse water sources through management, conservation and rainwater harvesting.

She said under the Jal Jeevan Mission, community participation was ensured and elements such as information, Education and Communication were best used for the success of the programme in the district. During the survey, every aspect of the mission was evaluated and was based on the feedback of people of the respective gram panchayats, the DC added.

After MP, Ukhand to have medical studies in Hindi

Uttarakhand would become the second State in the country after Madhya Pradesh to provide the option of selecting Hindi as the medium of study in the medical colleges tothe students. The medical Education department has constituted a four member expert committee for designing the draft of the new syllabus by studying the Hindi medium curriculum prepared by the MP for the medical colleges.

The Health and medical education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the Union Government is giving special importance to Hindi under which emphasis is being laid on use of Hindi in the judiciary and government departments. He said that curriculum in the Hindi languages are also being designed along with English in the .

The minister said MP has already become the first state in the country to start medical studies in Hindi medium. He said that a four member committee has been constituted for preparing the draft of the curriculum of Hindi medium in medical studies. The committee would be headed by the Principal of the Srinagar Medical College Dr CMS Rawat. Dr A K Singh and Dr H S Pandey of Haldwani medical college would be the members while the Professor Dr Daulat Singh of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) would be the member secretary of the committee.

UP govt eyeing Rs 20,000 crore investment in tourism sector

The Yogi Adityanath government is eyeing worth Rs 20,000 crore in the tourism sector in order to develop Uttar Pradesh as a ‘Tourism State’ and create EMPLOYMENT for 10 lakh youths in the next five years.

In order to achieve this ambitious goal, the government has announced a subsidy of up to Rs 40 crore for investors willing to develop major tourist places in the state as well as the lesser known, but beautiful natural destinations.

The new tourism policy approved by the cabinet gives a lot of relief to the investors through rebates and incentives for the development of tourist destinations.

Under the new policy, various types of grants have been announced for entrepreneurs investing in the state. According to the policy, those investing between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 10 crore will get a rebate of 25 per cent, or up to Rs 2 crore. Similarly, entrepreneurs investing between Rs 10 crore and Rs 50 crore will be provided a 20 per cent subsidy or up to Rs 7.5 crore.

Entrepreneurs with investment between Rs 50 crore and Rs 200 crore will get a subsidy of 15 per cent, or up to Rs 20 crore whereas those investing between Rs 200 crore and Rs 500 crore will be given a rebate of 10 per cent, or up to Rs 25 crore. Besides, subsidy will be provided at the rate of 10 per cent or Rs 40 crore, whichever is higher, to premier investors investing capital above Rs 500 crore.

The new policy also aims to develop the understanding, need and importance of tourism and culture among the youth and children from the very beginning. Under this, youth tourism clubs have been identified as a means to develop responsible and sustainable tourism in the country. In addition, there will be Awards for the best tour operator, wellness centre, hotel, heritage hotel, best eco tourism operator.

Jharkhand govt frames new rule to regularise buildings

The on Saturday formally announced to regularise both residential and non-residential buildings constructed in violation of the approved building plans or without it, with a one-time registration payment.

A draft rule in this regard titled ‘Scheme for regularization of unauthorised residential construction-2022’, which was readied by the state building department, has been signed by chief minister Hemant Soren.

The government’s move comes after several representations were made by different trade bodies on the matter in recent years. The draft has fixed a cut-off date of December 31, 2019, for regularisation, which means all buildings that came up before this date will be eligible to avail the scheme benefits. About seven lakh buildings are estimated to get the benefits.

A child-friendly comic book prepared by UNICEF was also released jointly by the minister, states chief secretary Amir Subhani and UNICEF-Bihar chiefNafisa Binte Shafique. Social welfare secretaryPrem Singh Meenaand senior adviser, UNICEF Bihar, R K Mahajan, were also present. The book was distributed among the children to create awareness about their rights and duties.

Cgarhs Narayanpur excels in Delta ranking of Niti Aayog

Chhattisgarhs aspirational district Narayanpur has secured the 14th rank under the Delta Ranking issued by for excellent performance in various fields.

An official Communication on Monday said that in the fields of Health, Nutrition and Education, Narayanpur secured the achievement in the Aspirational District Programme for September.

Also, Narayanpur was ranked 19th in Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture, 75th in Financial Inclusion and Skill development, and 93rd in Infrastructure.

In the overall assessment, the district has been ranked 14th.

With the objective of further improving the delta rankings of Narayanpur, all departments are being regularly reviewed by the Collector. All the officers have been told to regularly monitor the various works and upload the data on the portal.

Prior to this, theperformance of Narayanpur was better in the ‘Champion of Change’ Delta ranking released for August 2022. Of the 112 aspirational districts, Narayanpur was ranked fifth in the country for overall performance.

Besides, Narayanpur district had secured second position in health andnutrition, fourth in education, second in Health and Nutrition, and fourth in the education category.

2% of 9.75 lakh screened tribal people have sickle cell trait

Less than two percent of 9.75 lakh screened residents are found with sickle cell disease in two tribal districts- Alirajpur and Jhabua under state hemoglobinopathy mission.

The records from National Health Mission-MP showed that only 18725 (1.91%) residents cumulatively from Alirajpur and Jhabua were found with sickle cell traits.

The numbers are even less in case of those found suffering from sickle cell disease in those two tribal districts. Only 1997 persons (0.20%) were found suffering from sickle cell disease in Alirajpur and Jhabua among those screened, showed records.

These two districts are among the pilot projects in the first phase of a mission established in June last year in the state for screening of prevalence of sickle cell anemia in the Population. The project for screening began in February this year.
The target was to screen 8.26 lakh population (7.69 lakh children below 18 years and 0.56 lakh pregnant Women) from 12 blocks of two districts in the mission in six months, showed records.

In the project, the health authorities have taken help from Jan Abhiyan Parishad members, NGOs working in the area, volunteers, and staffers for carrying out door-to-door awareness and screening activities.

CEC to launch special summary revision of electoral rolls

Chief election commissionerRajiv Kumarwill on Wednesday launch the special summary revision (SSR) of India’s electoral rolls with reference to January 1, 2023, from Pune, a city that has recorded one of the lowest voter turnouts in the country. Pune has consciously been chosen as theSSRlaunch venue to highlight ECs renewed push to reducing urban voter apathy and youth apathy, for which it will also be entering into memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with universities like the Pune University and Symbiosis International as well as corporates like Tech Mahindra.

Noticing high urban apathy in Pune which recorded just 49.9% voter turnout in 2019Lok Sabhapoll the Commission has decided to create targeted awareness among voters, emphasise inclusivity in enrolment by engaging with marginalised sections of the Society as also interacting with voter awareness fora.

This year the special summary revision of rolls with January 1, 2023 as the qualifying date will formally start with publication of the draft electoral roll on November 9.

Cases of blindness and visual impairment decline dramatically across India

There is some good news. Blindness and visual impairment (VI) in India reduced by 47.1% and 51.9%, respectively, in 2019, in overall Population as compared to WHOs figures of 2010.

However, India is yet to achieve WHO’s goal of reducing blindness to 0.3% of the total population, as the present figures stand at 0.36%.

According to a recent study for estimating the prevalence of blindness and visual impairment in the Indian population, more than one fourth of people aged 50 years and above are visually impaired in India and the prevalence of blindness among them is 1.99%.

Among the 31 surveyed districts, the highest prevalence was seen in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh (3.7%), whereas the lowest was in Thrissur, Kerala (1.1%).

The major causes of blindness included cataract (66.2%), followed by corneal opacity (8.2%), cataract surgical complications (7.2%), posterior segment disorders (5.9%), and glaucoma (5.5%).

In the population aged 50 years and above, the prevalence of blindness has declined from 5.3% in 2001 to 3.6% in 2007, and to 1.9% in the current survey.
The study revealed that a higher prevalence was noted in females than in males and participants residing in rural regions had higher prevalence of blindness than those living in urban regions.

India- Norway join hands to for a GREEN MARITIME SECTOR

MoPSW (Ministry of ,Shipping and Waterways) is working diligently to develop the Maritime Sector as a goal of MIV 2030. In this regard 8th Norway-India Joint Working Group Maritime meeting was held on17th November,2022 in Mumbai. The meeting was Co-Chaired by Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary, MoPSW in presence of Mr. Amitabh Kumar, Director General of Shipping, Directorate General of Shipping, Mr. Kumar Sanjay Bariar, Addl. Director General of Shipping, Directorate General of Shipping Mr. Ajith Sukumaran, Chief Surveyor (I/c), Directorate General of Shipping Mr. Madhu Nair, Chairman and MD, Cochin Shipyard Limited along with other MoPSW senior officials. The Norwegian delegation was led by Director General Mr. Ottar Ostnes from the Ministry of Trade, Industries and Fisheries.

India Norway is part of Green Voyage 2050 project, both parties agreed on willingness, devotion, PARTNERSHIP and capacity building for achieving common goals.

India is a signatory to Hongkong Convention for Recycling of Ships. In todays meeting India requested that EU regulation should not hinder to recycling non-European countries which is compliant as per International Convention. Norway was requested not to prolong Ship recycling to India as lot of Investment has been made by Indian recyclers.
