Bio-village 2.0 brings applaud for Tripura

Tripurahas been lauded for having the first modified bio-village in the country with the use of eco-friendly technology and assembling , agri and agri-allied, aqua support and maximum use of non-renewable sources of energy.
A London-based international non-government research organisation Climate Group working across the country recognised the eco-friendly technology used in the bio-village as one of the 10 best practices in the world.

This is one of the five successful bio-village 2.0 conceptualised in Tripura after the BJP-led government came to power and adopted the Climate Change mitigation endeavour of Prime MinisterNarendra Modi.

Tripura has already implemented the bio-village 2.0 components across 10 villages where over a thousand marginalised people were targeted to modify their lifestyle and livelihood to an adaptive behaviour of nature-based technology promoted by the directorate of bio-technology.

All northeast states should try to resolve boundary disputes

Assamchief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed the 70th Plenary of the North Eastern Council (NEC) here on Sunday that measures are being taken for an amicable settlement to the inter-state border disputes in the northeast, with 50% of Assam’s boundary row with Meghalaya lready been resolved.

He said processes have been initiated to arrive at a permanent solution to Assam’s boundary dispute with Arunachal Pradesh. Sarma insisted on the need of initiating a concerted effort by the governments of all the northeastern states, if boundary disputes are to be settled once and for all.

He also felt the need for a museum in Assam to highlight the ethnic, cultural artefacts and products of the northeastern states. Sarma assured the NEC of all co-operation, including allotment of land, from the government of Assam, if the regional statutory advisory body comes up with a concrete plan for such a museum.

Utkal signs MoU with Varsity of Sugriwa, Bali

The University of Sugriwa, Bali, Indonesia and the Utkal University (UU), Bhubaneswar have signed an MoU for academic collaboration with the approval of UU Vice-Chancellor, Prof Sabita Acharya.

The objective is to foster academic excellence through joint research projects, joint workshops and training programmes, exchange of researchers, exchange of academic publications and other information and other forms of cooperation time to time.

Tamil Nadu: Pre-baseline socio-economic survey released

The pre-baseline NaduHousehold Panel Survey (TNHPS) for 2018-2019 was released by the minister for finance P T R Palanivel Thiaga Rajan and received by chief secretary V Irai Anbu in Chennai.

The Tamil Nadu Household Panel Survey (TNHPS) examines a set of sample households in Tamil Nadu at specific intervals to analyse the change in socio-economic status of individuals, families and communities and how they are influenced, especially by government intervention. The details of the survey have not yet been released.

Understanding the transformation of the beneficiaries through government intervention is crucial for making “evidence-based policy” more effective.

Kerala: Focus on future jobs and upskilling

The states Industrial Policy that is being revised after four years, focuses on the upgradingskillsof youth for jobs of the future, industries and technologies for a fourth Industrial revolution, and aligning the Industrial Sector with the states vision of responsible and sustainable investments.

The major sunrise sectors that have been identified include , space sector, ayurveda, and Biotechnology, among others.

The existing industrial policy was formulated in 2018. The minister said the draft industrial policy would be shared with stakeholders within 10 days, and inputs will be taken from Industry bodies and others before finalizing the policy. The new industrial policy will be finalized and released in January next year, and will be effective from April 1, next year.

Karnataka govts GramaOne programme sees one crore beneficiaries

The number of beneficiaries of GramaOne, theflagship programmeofKarnataka governmentthat delivers citizen Services at the doorsteps of villagers, has crossed the one-crore mark.

The milestone has been recorded within ten months of the launch of programme, which was intended to help rural residents in availing of multiple government services without having to travel long distances to visit the district headquarters, taluk office and hobli centres to get their official work done. Currently, about 800 services including G2C (government to citizens), B2C (business to citizens),Banking services, and RTI (Right To Information) queries are being delivered through the 7,112 GramaOne centres across the state.

Telangana needs to offer green sops: Indian Green Building Council

Though India is one of the top three countries in terms of green buildings with a total footprint of 8.3 billion square feet,Telanganalags behind with a footprint of only 356 million sq ft,Indian Green Building Council(IGBC) Hyderabad chapter chairmanC ShekarReddy said.

He said the sops being provided by these states range from additional floor area ratio free of charge for projects above a certain rating, subsidies, reimbursements, reduction in permit fees and impact fees.

Andhra Pradesh: TTD signs a MOU with IOCL for setting up biogas plant at Tirumala

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Iocl) for setting up a biogas plant at Tirumala.

The plant would be set up in two acres at an estimated cost of about 12 crore, as a part of the Swachh Bharat campaign. The project cost will be shared by both the stakeholders.

According to estimates, about 35 tonnes of garbage is produced atop the temple town on a daily basis and setting up of the plant would help generate 1.6 metric tonnes of gas, which will be used in preparation of food at the Matru Sri Tarigonda Vengamamba Anna Prasadam (free meals) Complex.

Centers goal is to spur port-led development: Sarbananda Sonowal

The Union ministry for , shipping and waterways aims to modernise all the major ports across the country and use them to spur port-led economic activity, Union minister of ports, shipping and waterwaysSarbananda Sonowalsaid.

Sonowal laid the foundation stone for Mormugao Port Authoritys (MPA) Rs 122.7 crore international and domestic cruise terminal, which is expected to be ready by March 2024.Sonowalalso laid the foundation stone for a flyover ramp at Baina, and five projects for the New Mangalore port.

Sonowal said that along with the cruise terminal, a fishing jetty and community development programs are also on the anvil.

12th-century Kannada inscription discovered in Maharashtra’s Latur village

The popular 9th-century Kannada workKavirajamargadescribes ‘Kannada land’ as the one spread between Cauvery and Godavari rivers. Now, a newly discoveredKannada inscriptionfrom the 12th century seconds it by describing a Chalukya king ruling from Godavari basin.

The 24-line inscription in old Kannada script and Kannada language was discovered a few days ago in Kasar Balkunda village, Nilanga taluk, Latur district, Maharashtra. The discovery was made byKrishna Trimbak Gudade, aMaharashtraelectricity sub-station operator.

Gudade became an ‘inscription hunter’ a few years ago. He had discovered a hero stone once. But the credit for it was claimed by someone else, he claimed. This spurred him to discover hitherto unknown inscriptions.
