The Indian government has signed a ceasefire agreement with the National Socialist Council (K) Niki Group of Nagaland State, effective September 8, 2021, for a period of one year.

More than 200 cadres of this team along with eighty three weapons joined the peace process. The Indian Government has already signed a Ceasefire Agreement with different Naga groups namely, NSCN(R), NSCN(NK), & NSCN(K)-Khango and Framework Agreement with NSCN(IM) .

Assam govt launches mission to turn BTR into a piggery hub

Assamagriculture ministerAtul launched theBodoland Pig MissioninKokrajharto turn the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) into a Piggery hub.

The initiative aims to transform the traditional means of livelihood of thousands of households into a sustainable economic activity.

A target of producing 1-lakh kg pork per day has been set under the mission, which will directly involve 30,000 households in breeding/rearing activities.

Pig-breeding facilities, supply of quality feed at competitive prices, veterinary Services, skill enhancement and registration of farmers, Livestock identification and Insurance facility, value chain development and market linkage will be provided under the mission across the BTR.

Pork accounts for 38.5 per cent of total meat consumption in Assam. It is an important Source Of Income for more than 10 lakh households and 2,500 commercial entrepreneurs in the state.
It is estimated that 1,94,000 tonnes of pork are sold in Assam annually, while the value of the pork market is Rs 582 crore, as per the State Government data.

CAG slams state of higher education

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has slammed the state of higher Education in Odisha in its recent report tabled in the assembly.

The report said gross enrolment ratio (GER) of 22.1% in Odisha between 2014 and 2019 is below the national Average of 26.30%. It slammed the for not devising specific plan to improve the ratio.

Despite SC/ST Population comprising around 40% of the states total population, the report said the GER and gender parity index of SC/ST categories remained below the national average.
Even as the state government has established theOdisha State Higher Education Councilto promote higher education and research in the state through planning and reforms, the CAG said objective of the council remained largely unfulfilled as the body has not prepared any plan.

The CAG also pointed out poor functioning of career counselling cells inUtkal University(UU),North Odisha University(NOU) and 32 known degree colleges. It said there was less than optimal functioning or complete absence of placement and career counselling cells and job fairs in these institutions while amount released to organize the job fair remained unutilized.

On an average 26.10% students of UU and 3.79% students of NOU could get placements through placements cells/job fairs between 2014 and 2019. UU and NOU had facilitated placement of 1,089 and 70 students, respectively, through job fairs during the period, said the CAG in its report.

The Percentage of students who qualified in different competitive examinations in UU ranged between 2.23% and 27.10% from 2014-19, except in 2015-16, when it was 40.19%. In NOU, the percentage of students who qualified in competitive examinations ranged between 3.50 and 7.72% during this period.

Tamil Nadu inoculates 100% people in tourism spots

For instance, vaccinations with at least one dose has been completed for all adults inPalani. The coverage with one dose is likely to be completed in other places of worship such asVellankani, Nagur and Tiruvannamalai. “In the next four or five days, we will be completing vaccinations atNagaurand Vellankani, where more than 95% of adults have taken the first dose,” he said.

Local community level action programmes to reach out to vulnerable persons can go a long way in preventing suicides in pandemic times, say experts.

The point is to identify those who find themselves in dire situations, be it stressful life events or financial distress, and to offer help, besides making them realize that they are not the only ones who are going through a state of uncertainty, say activists involved in suicide preventions.

Teachers are the best bet for monitoring student Health. Most know the situation in their students homes and thus can stay in touch with the children and ensure that help is at hand.

Karnataka: UG students may get Kannada policy relief

TheKarnatakagovernment is likely to relax its stand that all degree students have to study four semesters of Kannada from the upcoming academic year. Students who have not learnt the language in school will have to learn Kannada only for two semesters, instead.

According to sources, students from other states and countries will have to study Kannada for two semesters. After the two semesters, they can opt for other languages for the next two semesters. Students who have learnt Kannada in school will have to pursue it for four semesters. However, the government is yet to issue an order to this effect, said officials.

As per the National Education Policy being implemented from 2021-22 for first-year degree courses, students must study Kannada for four semesters, apart from another language the college offers. Kannada in each semester has three credits.

Centre to help develop six Telangana airports: Jyotiraditya Scindia

Union minister for civil aviation JyotiradityaScindiahas assured that Centre would extend support for development of six proposed in various parts ofTelangana. He also said metro rail connectivity will be provided to theRajiv Gandhi International Airport. Centre will also help in expansion of the airport, the Union minister said.

The Union minister met chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at thePragathi Bhavan. KCR requested support from the Centre in development of airports in Telangana as the state is becoming a centre for economic Growth and a hub for various sectors. KCR brought to the notice of Scindia that passenger traffic has increased at the international airport in the past few years. Direct connectivity should be increased, especially with cities in south-east Asia, Europe, US, KCR said.

Scindia assured Centre will provide help in developing Hyderabad as an international city. The minister said that immediate measures will be taken to start ATR operations at the proposed Mamnur airport in Warangal, among the six proposed airports in the state.

APSSDC to set up 23 skill colleges at Rs 460 crore

The Andhra Pradesh State Skill development Institute has trained more than 6,544 people under its new -ready programme and employed them in various industries.

TheAndhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation(APSSDC) in a press release here on Sunday said it is going to establish 23skill collegesat an estimated cost of Rs 460 crores.

Skill training centresare being developed on an area of five acres in each Parliamentary constituency at an estimated cost of about Rs 20 crores. Built on an area of 45,520 square feet, skill colleges will be designed to house six classrooms, two labs, two workshops, a startup lab, admin and staff rooms. Hostels will also be built to accommodate 126 people.

Similarly, the government has also selected two priority courses in each college to suit the needs of the area. The course duration ranges between three to six months depending on the sector.

PM likely to open Aguada museum on December 19

Prime MinisterNarendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the Freedom Struggle Museum at Fort Aguada on December 19, being the 60thLiberation Dayof Goa, minister for Michael Lobo said recently.

Located at the former central jail premises at the fort, it has been restored and redeveloped at a cost of Rs 25 crore under the central governments Swadesh Darshan scheme.
The museum, yet to be named officially, will showcase the lives of freedom fighters and the freedom movement. It is a monument of national historic importance. Lives and struggles of freedom fighters from Goa and also Indian freedom fighters who fought against the British rule and were jailed here will be depicted, Lobo said.

Only 2% of Maharashtras 20L pregnant women jabbed

Vaccination against Covid for pregnant Women started in mid-July, but it is still to pick up in the state.

Only around 40,700 women have taken the shot so far in Maharashtra, shows data. Considering the state has an estimated 20 lakh women in this category, it means barely 2% have taken the jab. In Mumbai, Home to about 1.5 lakh pregnant women, only 1,278 have taken it. Nationally, over 6 lakh had taken it till September 7.

Doctors believe fear, misconception and lack of local data on pregnancy outcomes for the mother and the child may be keeping women away.
