Push for 2,486-cr Tripura roadways project to boost regional connectivity

The 49th Network Planning Group meeting of PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan two days ago has recommended a roadways project inTripurato boost regional connectivity, officials here said.

According to the decision, the road section ofKhowai-Teliamura-Harinawith a total length of 134.9 km was considered for its improvement and widening to two lanes with paved shoulders of NH-208 in Tripura at the cost of Rs 2,486 crore.

The project is planned with a multimodal connectivity approach; connectivity to industrial clusters and new SEZ inWest Jalefavillage of South Tripura, efficient freight movement; reducing carbon footprint; optimised alignment and logistical efficiency, officials added. The project is expected to enhance regional connectivity, as this corridor is close to the Bangladesh border and it would connect Bangladesh through Kailashahar, Kamalpur and Khowai border check posts

TheAssamgovernment will organise a mega sporting competition across all villages of the state to tap sporting talents, chief ministerHimanta Biswa Sarmasaid.

He also affirmed the governments support to all players who pursue their respectivesportspassionately.

Modelled along Gujarats Khel Mahakumbh, it will help recognise the sporting potential of the youth in the villages and hone them, he added. Sarma said the players from the state were now shining in the international arena due to the conducive back Home.

That’s why the Tehsildar of Bandhugaon erected red flags on the land, issued Section 144 there and filed a case in the name of Rao.

Madurai ranks nine in natl food safety index, 3rd in TN

The central food safety department under theministry of Health and family welfarehas awarded ninth rank to Madurai in terms of food safety index among the top 75 districts in the country. The districts were assessed by Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (Fssai) in an Eat Right Challenge based on the food safety index released on Wednesday. Madurai has been placed third among 22 districts inTamil Nadu.

While Coimbatore has been placed first in the national as well as state ranking, Dindigul district took second place in the state ranking. Nadus rank has dipped from first last year to third spot this time. Madurai has scored a total of 177 marks out of 200 marks in the Eat Right Challenge. Last year, Madurai was at 42nd place in the national ranking and eighth in the state ranking.

Among states,Keralahas taken the first spot this time. Last year, 13 districts from Tamil Nadu featured among the top 75 while this year trhe number has gone up to 22.

CM invites Pfizer to set up research unit

Chief ministerPinarayi Vijayanhas held discussions with representatives of pharma majorPfizerin New York, in which a request for opening a research unit of the company in the state was also put forward.

The company representatives assured that a high-level delegation from the company would visit the state by September as a follow up action of the discussions.

The meeting was held at the Marriott Marquis hotel where the LokaKeralaSabha regional conference is being held.

The officials explained the achievements of the state in the Health-sector”>Health sector, while the Pfizer representatives expressed their desire to associate with the digital sciences park recently inaugurated by the prime minister in the state.

State govts Shakti scheme floated across North Karnataka

The ‘s ambitious Shakti Yojane, a free travel scheme for Women inKSRTCbuses across the state, was launched on Sunday. The scheme got a positive response on its first day in Hubballi.

In Hubballi city, NWKRTC Hubballi Rural division organised a launch programme at Hosur terminal.

The Shakti free bus travel scheme is very beneficial for rural and poor women. Women will use it for their own work and students’ Education.

Shakti is the first of the five guarantees promised by Congress during the election campaign to be implemented by the Siddaramaiah-led government. It allows women to travel free of charge on State Road Transport (SRT) buses inKarnataka.

The state government had formulated several schemes and programmes to help the poor. Their implementation will increase the EMPLOYMENT opportunities and income of the poor. To implement the five guarantees, Rs 60,000 crore is required. By spending this amount, there will be an increase in disposable income, which in turn will increase the GDP, Lad explained.

Hyderabad to host international jurists meet in September

The city will host the International Conference of Jurists in September this year. Stating this, Supreme Court bar association chief and president of International Council of Jurists Adish C Aggarwala said more than 100 judges from foreign countries along with 100 more Indian judges will take part in the prestigious conference.

Interaction and exchange of views among jurists of various countries and cultures would benefit all the jurists, Adish said and pointed out how the court case status display board idea of Pakistans Lahore in 2004 had later inspired several courts in the world to implement such a display board system in their courts as well.

Government plans to enhance APSFL subscribers to 50 lakhs: Andhra Pradesh Minister Gudivada Amarnath

TheAndhra Pradesh IT and industries ministerGudivada Amarnath said that the government planning to enhance the subscribers of the AP State Fibernet Limited (APSFL) Network to 50 lakhs from the present nine lakhs.

After releasing theNireekshana CinemathroughFiber Net in the presence of the cinema unit, he said that the had started First Day -First Show for the first time in the country. The APSFL network is in 7,000 panchayats out of 11,000 panchayats. The state government has been bringing the fiber net available in rural and tribal areas.

The minister said that this facility has been launched for the benefit of the small movies which could go into the public and also benefit the producers financially

Just 6% Goa schools using IVRS for feedback on midday meals

The Union Government‘s project approval board (PAB) for themidday meal schemehas found that in Goa, schools’ reporting of supply and quality of meals using the automated monitoring system has been ‘abysmally low’.
An integrated voice response system (IVRS) had been specially designed for the purpose, but only 6% of schools used it in 2022-23.

The automated monitoring system has been put in place for real-time monitoring ofPM Poshan. Data on the number of meals served on the particular day and reasons if meals are not served are being captured from schools with no cost to school headmasters/teachers. Out of 1,247 schools, on Average, daily data has been reported by 75 schools, ie, only 6% schools, on the automated monitoring system.

In Goa, data is collected from schools using an IVRS developed by theInfotech Corporation of Goa. Through the IVRS, a call goes to a selected representative of the school every day at a pre-decided time. A pre-recorded voice asks for different details about the midday meal served on that particular day. A selected school teacher or headmaster provides data by pressing the appropriate number. This data is later submitted by Education officials in the state on a Union government portal.

The Goa government was advised to conduct testing of the meal samples to check quality and nutritional contents, through NABL or Fssai accredited laboratories.

Crop cover for Maharashtra farmers at Re 1, state to foot 2% premium

Farmers inMaharashtrawill be able to opt for the crop Insurance scheme by paying Re 1, with the state funding their share of 2% premium. The cabinet approved the decision, which had been announced in the statebudgetin March.

The cabinet also okayed a model that will cap the profit of insurance companies.
“The farmer will only have to register for the crop insurance scheme by paying Re 1. There will be no premium for them,” said deputy CMDevendra Fadnavis. The state cabinet also approved another budget announcement: the NamoShetkari Mahasanman Nidhi, a sum of Rs 6,000 to be paid for one crore farmers in the state to supplement the Rs 6,000 paid by the Centre under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi SammanNidhi Yojana.

As a result, a sum of Rs 12,000 will be deposited in the account of each farmer of the state every year. The state’s grant will be paid in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each. The state had proposed a budgetary outlay of Rs 6,900 crore for the scheme for 2023-24.

The cabinet also decided to bring an area of 25 lakh hectares in the state under in the next three years, to promote natural farming. The scope of Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Organic Farming Mission will be expanded by establishing 1,000 bio-input source centres. This had also been announced in the state budget in March.
