Haryana better placed than Punjab, HP in e-waste management

Haryana is much better placed than many other states when it comes to managing electronic or E-Waste. With a recycling capacity of 1.24 lakh tonnes per annum, the state stands at fourth position in terms of installed capacity.

The states which are ahead of Haryana in terms of e-waste handling or installed capacity are Uttar Pradesh (4.94 lakh tonne per annum), Uttarakhand (1.47 lakh tonne) and Nadu (1.32 lakh tonne).

Across the country, there are 468 authorised dismantlers and recyclers in 22 states with a processing capacity of 13.86 lakh MT per annum, Minister of State for Environment, Forests and Climate-change”>Climate Change Ashwini Kumar Choubey informed the Lok Sabha recently.

According to data shared by him, India generated 10,14,961.2 tonnes of e-waste last year, a massive 31.6% increase from the previous year. Further, only 22% of the e-waste generated in India got recycled. In 2017-18, India generated 7,08,445 tonnes of e-waste and 7,71,215 tonnes in 2018-19 an increase of 8.86%. The e-Waste (Management) Rules were notified in 2016 which got amended from time to time. So far, the Environment Ministry has notified 21 types of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) as e-waste.

In 2016, the E-Waste (Management) Rules placed responsibility on electronics goods manufacturing companies and bulk consumers to collect and channel e-waste from consumers to authorised re-processing units.

Asian Water Birds Census 2022 conducted at Lalmatia Dam

The census of Asian water birds was carried out under the Asian Waterbird Census 2022 by the Forest Department at Lalmatia Dam in Latehar district on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner Abu Imran was present in the programme as the chief guest. In the programme organized by the Forest Department, mainly local water birds and migratory birds were identified and counted.

Imran said on this occasion that there are beautiful birds of different species besides forests, Mountains, waterfalls to see in Latehar district. Migratory birds make their shelter in the water bodies of Latehar district. He said that there is a lot of potential for bird watching and eco-tourism in Latehar district and organizing Asian Waterbirds Census in Latehar is a very good initiative.

Cgarh approves action plan for health sector

The Chhattisgarh government on Thursday approved an action plan in the https://exam.pscnotes.com/Health-sector”>Health sector for utilization of Rs 338.79 crore sanctioned by the Centre under the 15th Finance Commission.

Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain chaired here the State Level Committee meeting constituted for implementation of the health grant.

Jain called for a detailed action plan for ensuring better health Services in the state.

The approved action plan includes constructing buildings for sub-health, primary health and community health centres, strengthening testing facilities, developimg referral centres, upgrading Health and Wellness Centres in rural and urban areas and setting up Urban Polyclinics for specialist medical assistance in urban areas.

NAAC grading will also be mandatory for private colleges, universities

Higher Education Minister Mohan Yadav has said that in order to enhance the quality of education in the state, now private colleges and universities will also have NAAC grading. Soon a guide-line will be issued for this. Yadav was reviewing the departmental activities on Tuesday. Yadav said that the guidelines have been issued by NAAC that colleges and universities which have completed one academic year will be eligible to apply for Provisional Accrediation Certificate. Till now it was a system that only those institutions which have completed six years could apply for NAAC certification.

He said that preparations are also being made to make all the 238 colleges of the state multi-faculty in the context of the new education policy. In order to give priority to Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture in the academic campus, it is necessary to include related subjects like , Horticulture etc. in the curriculum.

This year about 75 thousand students have chosen the subject of organic farming. Higher Education Minister Mohan Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is an agricultural state. With the implementation of the new education policy, the youth will now give a new dimension to the concept of self-reliant Madhya Pradesh by using new modern agricultural techniques.

GSECL to install largest solar project in Guj

The state-owned power generation utilityGujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited(GSECL) has taken up installation of pilot 35-megawatt solar PV project with 57 MWH Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at itsKutchlignite thermal power station.

The project to be executed with the support ofGujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited(GUVNL) and Energy and Petrochemicals department, Gujarat, will cost Rs 334.54 crore. L&T has been selected for the project that is the largest utility scale BESS project inGujaratas well as the western region.

Rajasthan: Child panel to hold awareness meets on crimes against kids

TheRajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights(RSCPCR) will organise public awareness workshops at the district level in the state to create awareness among children and their parents about child crimes and allow them to express their views.

People will be taught how to register their complaints when such incidents occur. Also with the board examinations round the corner, the commission will also organise examination festival during which children will be able to talk to the experts about their issues.

The commission in collaboration with NGOs includingSave The Childrenand two others had launchedUmeedhelpline in January last year for children to deal with mental Health issues following which in a matter of one year, they received approximately 4,000 calls from parents as well as children seeking help for problems like Stress, anxiety, addiction to mobile phone, etc.
