‘Happy with central schemes in Meghalaya’

Union minister of state for chemicals and fertilisers and new and ,Bhagwanth Khubaon Thursday visited Nongstoin inMeghalaya’s West Khasi Hills district to assess the status of Centre’s schemes in the state.

Highlighting the PM KUSUM rooftop solar scheme, Khuba informed that more subsidies are available to the northeastern states. “All schemes pertaining to the NE region are always given priority, more subsidies are provided to benefit the people. I urge the District Administration to avail of the benefits of the MNRE schemes,” Khuba said. The minister also held a meeting with the locals and headmen who apprised him about the challenges they face.


Over 3.3k-cr Assam tea sold at auction centre in 22-23

Assamtea, worth over Rs 3,300 crore, was sold at the Guwahati tea auction centre (GTAC) during the financial year 2022-2023.

According to official data of the Guwahati tea auction centre, around 165 millionkgof tea was sold at the auction centre with an Average price of Rs 191.26 per kg.

Dinesh Bihani, secretary of the Guwahati tea auction buyers association (GTABA) said that during 2022-23, around 165 million kg of tea was sold at the auction centre.

He further said that last year a special tea called Manohari Golden Tea was auctioned at a price of Rs 99,999 per kg. An orthodox tea was auctioned at Guwahati tea auction centre at a price of around Rs 5,100, Bihani said.

The Odisha Mission is taking major strides in collaborating with restaurants and chefs to promote Odishas millets.

The efforts of bringing the millets from farm to plate are on the rise as the State Government is taking various initiatives to promote the consumption of millets. One such drive is seen at the Millet Food Festival.
The Odisha Millet Mission, along with Michaels Kitchen, a fine-dining restaurant in Bhubaneswar, is organising the Millet Food Festival to commemorate the International Year of Millets 2023. The 15-day festival, scheduled from May 5 to 20, features various organic national and international dishes, with millets as the lead ingredient.
The festival also featured a master class from May 7 to 11. The master class aimed at orienting how to manage a restaurant and how new dishes and food items can be made from millets. The session was attended by Mission Shakti WSHGs to learn how to manage their own businesses.

Hyundai announces Rs 20,000 crore investment in Tamil Nadu for EV ecosystem development

Motor IndiaLimited (HMIL) has announced new long term plans in the state ofTamil Nadufor the development of its electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. A statement released by the company said that it will make further inroads into electric vehicles and modernization of vehicle platform by investing Rs 20,000 crore in a phased manner over the period of 10 years (2023 to 2032).

As a part of the plan, Hyundai will set up a state-of-the-art battery pack assembly unit with an annual capacity to assemble 1,78,000 units of batteries. Furthermore, the company plans to install 100 EV charging stations at key locations in major highways, over a period of five years.

Audit dept pulls up local body over spending Rs 1.6 crore

Kerala State Audit Department has raised an audit objection for a whopping amount of nearly Rs 1.6 crore spent for several projects in Kumily panchayat for the financial year 2021-22 citing anomalies in the tendering and related matters.

According to the original copy of the audit reports of different projects send to all the 20 ward members of the LDF-governed civic body, apart from anomalies, issues like the company winning the tender login in the public-owned procurement portal like Government e-Market Place (GeM) using the confidential information available with the panchayat and alleged tampering of the stamp papers used for signing the contract have also been raised.

The audit report has mentioned objections to the funds spent for the video conferencing hall, erecting mini mast lights, streetlights, and solar streetlights. As much as Rs 77,18,919 spent on the streetlight project has been facing objections from the audit department.

Standard of govt schools in AP improving: Speaker

The standard of government school Education is improving in the state, and the recent SSC results have shown a remarkable improvement, said Speaker Tammineni Sitaram while inaugurating Rs 1.60 crore worth of additional buildings for KGBV School in Lolugu village under his Home constituency Amadalavalasa on Monday. The new facility would be used for intermediate classes.

Focusing on the importance of girl child education, Sitaram said additional attention was being given to KGBV schools in the state. With the introduction of English medium in most of the schools, many students were opting for government schools.

He said it was a good indication that the students of government schools and junior colleges obtained top ranks in SSC and intermediate examinations. He said that with a tie-up with the corporate educational agency, the students would improve further in examinations.

Ministry of defence hands over 1.8 hectares of land near Pune’s Alandi for ring road

The ministry of DEFENCE has granted permission to the Directorate General of Defence Estates (DGDE) to hand over 1.85 hectares of land near Alandi to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) for theEasternring road project.
The land in question is part of an Indian Army camp at Rase-Bhose village near Alandi.

The Army has its training and bomb disposal facility spread over 1,200 acres of land in the Rase-Bhose village area. It is a strategic facility in the zone of these villages.

CM inaugurates 46 health institutions across Haryana
