Ensure new Industrial Policy dedicated to industry soon: Punjab CM directs officers

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann asked the officers to ensure that new Industrial Policy is dedicated to soon.

Mann, chairing a high level review meeting, said that Punjab is on the threshold of becoming a front-runner industrial state in the country; and the new Industrial Policy, being prepared by the State Government, will act as a pivot for it. For the first time, this industry policy has been formulated after taking the views of all the stakeholders, especially the industrialists, he said.

The Chief Minister said that the suggestions of the states industrial captains have been duly incorporated in this policy. Likewise, Mann said that the opinions received from the industrial tycoons, during his recent visits to Hyderabad, Chennai, and Mumbai too, have been included in it. This new industrial policy will give much needed fillip to industrial Growth of the state, he added.

HP Transport Dept first in country to switch over to EVs

Switching on its entire fleet of official vehicles, as electrical, Himachal Pradesh State Transport Department has achieved the distinction of becoming the first such department in the country to switch over to electrical vehicles (EVs). Adopting the Go Green approach, the Directorate of Transport has replaced the official petrol and diesel vehicles with electric ones.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, congratulating the State Transport Department, said that Himachal has taken a lead in switching over to electrical vehicles and notified its policy, whereas some states of the country are in the final stage for implementing the same.

The motive to start these e-vehicles was to curtail unnecessary expenditure on petroleum products besides preserving the state’s pristine Environment. All the Government departments will be equipped with electrical vehicles within a year, said the Chief Minister, adding that EV Policy-2022 has also been notified.

The Government is also mulling to make Parwanoo-Nalagarh-Una-Hamirpur-Nadaun-Dehra highway as Clean and Green corridor. Apart from this, the e-buses will soon run on Shimla-Rampur corridor, he said, adding that the rest of the routes in the State will be provided e-buses in a phased manner in next three to four years, which will minimize both noise and Air Pollution.

The HRTC has been in loss since the last few years. Switching over to electrical vehicles will be a step forward to minimize the cost of transportation and will be affordable to all.

The electrical Charging Stations will be set up in a phased manner for which around 110 places along the four lanes, national and state highways have been identified. Besides, 700 government buildings have been selected to set up the electric charging stations.

Uttarakhand stations to get face lift with 5,000 crore railways allocation

To strengthen the rail Network in the hill state of Uttarakhand, Rs 5,004 crore has been allocated in the Union Budget. Under the station development scheme, two major stations — Haridwar and Dehradun — will be equipped with world-class facilities and nine other stations will be revamped.

Minister of railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said that “Uttarakhand has been allocated a record budget for this financial year, which is higher than many other northern states of the country”.

Vaishnaw had said that during the Congress government at the Centre from 2009 to 2014 the Average allocation for the state in the rail budget was only Rs 187 crore which has now been increased manifold. Stations in the state which will be revamped during the next fiscal include Roorkee, Kotdwar, Harrawala, Kashipur, Lalkuan, Ramnagar, Tanakpur, Kichchha and Kathgodam. Moradabad’s divisional RAILWAY manager (DRM) Ajay Nandan Singh said that with the commencement of long distance trains from Harrawala station, passengers’ load at Dehradun station will reduce by at least 25%.

Nations first digital portal dedicated for sports and sportspersons launched in Jharkhand

Under the direction of the Chief Minister Heman Soren, Johar Khiladi Sports Integrated Portal has been launched for the overall development of sports and sportspersons of the State. With the aim to position Jharkhand as a nursery for sports and to imbibe a sports culture in the state, this portal is one of a kind initiative across the country that shall be monumental to hone the talents of sportspersons of the state.

The portal launched by the Chief Minister is one of the first such portals to strengthen the idea of digitisation of sports. Information about players, coaches, referees, all sports academies, sports grounds, sports stadiums is available on a single portal. Information about state and district level competitions to be held in the state in future will also be made available on the portal in times to come.

In this portal, a detailed Database of each player will be created, information about their participation in various sports competitions will be maintained and will be made accessible in just one click. A total of 32 sports have been added to the portal, so that the players of all 32 sports recognized by the Indian Olympic Association can get benefits. For each sport, information about registered academies, registered players, past and upcoming competitions will be available at one place.

The sportspersons of the state can put forward any issues faced by them before the District Sports Officers as well as the Department of Sports directly through the portal. The officers will provide solutions to the problems faced by the sportspersons.

The Poto Ho Sports Scheme has been launched with the aim of promoting sports and sportspersons. Under the ambit of this scheme playgrounds are being constructed at the village level. The government is gearing up to build a Network from the Panchayat to the Capital, so that different types of sports programs are organized and players can put their talents to best use.

Bihar to provide Grade I’ jobs to medallists in international, national sporting events

BiharChief MinisterNitish Kumar announced that players from the state bringing medals in international and national sporting events will get Grade I’ jobs in the state administration.

Inaugurating the 18th National Inter District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM) at the Patliputra Sports Complex here, Kumar said that till now, the was providing Group C jobs to such medallists.

The CM said that the state government has provided jobs to 235 medallists since 2012.

He said that the state government is constructing an international sports stadium and sports university in Rajgir, for which Rs 740 crore has already been released.

Ladli Behna Yojana

Under the scheme, an amount of Rs one thousand per month will be transferred to the accounts of Women belonging to poor and middle class families.

The Chief Minister said that he wants to make life easier for his sisters. Along with the earlier schemes, now the Ladli Behna Yojana will improve the lives of women. With the amount received under the scheme, women will be able to arrange milk, fruits and vegetables for their children. He said that many of our public welfare schemes that were stopped by the previous government, have been restarted. The Chief Minister said that what has not happened anywhere has happened in Madhya Pradesh and your brother Shivraj will do what no one has done.

Rajasthan: Rs 968.92 crore sanctioned for broad gauge conversion of Nathdwara-Devgarh

The ministry of railways sanctioned Rs 968.92 crore for the broad gauge conversion of 82.52km RAILWAY track between Nathdwara and Devgarh Madariya inRajsamanddistrict.

The sanction is for the first phase of track conversion. In the first phase, Nathdwara will be connected to Devgarh and in the second phase of track conversion Devgarh will be connected to Bur.

With this conversion, the Mewar region, which is known for its historic and spiritual sites, as well as the marble , will benefit lakhs of people, including pilgrims and tourists.

Indias accreditation system ranked 5th globally; overall quality infrastructure system in Top 10

Indias national accreditation system under the Quality Council of India (QCI) has been ranked 5thin the world in the recent Global Quality Index (GQII) 2021. The GQII ranks the 184 economies in the world on the basis of the quality infrastructure (QI). Indias overall QI system ranking continues to be in the Top 10 at the 10thposition, with the standardization system (under Bis) at 9thand the metrology system (under NPL-CSIR) at 21stposition in the world.

QI is the technical backbone for international trade, with metrology, standardization, accreditation and conformity assessment Services providing reliability and trust between trading partners.In India, the National Physical Laboratory under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (NPL-CSIR) is the national metrology institute, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the national standards body and the constituent national accreditation boards under Quality Council of India support are the custodians of the national accreditation system.

The GQII measures the relative development of countries QI. A formula calculates a score for each country based on its position in the sub-rankings for metrology, standards and accreditation.Geographically, the top 25 QI systems are mainly located in Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific, with some exceptions, such as India (10th), Brazil (13th), Australia (14th), Turkey (16th), Mexico (18th) and South Africa (20th).

Six Greenfield airports have been operationalised since 2019

Government of India has formulated a Greenfield (GFA) Policy, 2008 which provides detailed guidelines, procedures and steps related to construction of Greenfield airports across the country. Under the GFA Policy, the project proponent- an airport developer or the respective State Government willing to establish a Greenfield airport is required to send a proposal to the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) in the prescribed format for 2-stage approval process i.e., ‘Site Clearance’ followed by ‘In-Principle’ approval.

Since 2019, 6 Greenfield airports namely, Kalaburagi (project cost Rs. 175.57 crore), Orvakal (Kurnool) (project cost Rs. 187 crore), Sindhudurg (project cost Rs. 520 crore), Itanagar (project cost Rs. 646 crore)Kushinagar (project cost Rs. 448 crore) and Mopa (project cost Rs.2870 crore) have been operationalised, out of which Kushinagar and Mopa airports are International airports.
