For the first time Manipur is set to host official international matches when India (FIFA ranking 106), Myanmar (159) and Kyrgyzstan (94) are involved in a tri-nation friendly tournament at the Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal. The matches will be played on March 22, 24 and 26, as per the FIFA international window.

TheAssamgovernment will launchJalotsavto assess the quality and functionality status of piped water supply to every household even as statistics revealed that barely 42% households in the most populous northeastern state have gottap waterconnection under the Centres flagship scheme for drinking water,Jal Jeevan Mission(JJM).

While seven states and Union Territories in the country have achieved 100% target in ensuring piped water to rural households three years after its launch, in Assam more than households, a bigger Percentage of government schools and anganwadi centres have benefited from JJM.

Of the 3.3 crore Assam Population, only 1.11 lakh rural population had tap water connection in the state before the launch of JMM in 2019. Barely, 1.5% of Assams population was getting tap water connection at that time. Now, after three years 28.27 lakh people of the state, accounting for 42.1% of the targeted population, have tap water.

TheOdishagovernment has decided to take up the matter of mother tongue education in Odia schools inJharkhandwith the Hemant Soren government after a February 6 TOI report of Odisha schools in Jharkhand shifting to Hindi medium.

Emphasising Education in mother tongue, Das said, Article 350 (b) of the Constitution provides safeguards for the linguistic minorities in India. The New Education Policy 2020 echoing the ethos ofSamagra Sikshyaalso encourages state governments to ensure that wherever possible, students should be taught in their mother tongue/regional language/local language.

Odia-speaking people in Jharkhand under the aegis of Odisha Bhasha Vichar Mancha a civil Society group has been demanding revival of Odia-language schools in the state.

Odia schools in Jharkhand have been facing several issues such as after the retirement of teachers posted in Odia-medium schools, the state education department started appointing Hindi-speaking teachers in those schools, and the did not publish Odia books though the NCERT has given copyright to the Jharkhand government. The education department has started merging Odia-medium schools with Hindi-medium ones in regions with substantial groups of Odia-speaking communities. The recent decision of the National Council of Teachers Education (NCTE) to exclude Odia from the primary teachers training programme in the state has added to the woes of Odia people in Jharkhand.

The Odia language, literature and culture department of the Odisha government tweeted, The department has requested the school and mass education department to provide necessary Odia textbooks and take necessary steps for filling up vacant teachers posts.

Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin launches full-day annadanam scheme

Chief minister M K Stalin on Saturday launched whole-day annadanam (free food to devotees) in three more temples attached to the Hindu religious and charitable endowments (HR & CE) department in Rameswaram, Madurai and Tiruvannamalai.

He launched the scheme through video conferencing at Ramanathaswamy temple in Rameswaram, Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai and Arunachaleswarar temple in Tiruvannamalai. Food will be served from 8 am to 10 pm and it is expected to benefit about 8,000 devotees on a daily basis.

Already, free lunch is served in 754 HR&CE temples in the state. In Palani Murugan temple and Aranganathaswamy temple in Srirangam, full-day annadanam scheme was in place before the DMK government assumed office. It extended it to the Murugan temples in Tiruchendur and Tiruttani and Mariamman temple in Samayapuram. The spends 25 lakh to provide annadanam to more than 70,000 devotees on a daily basis.

SC, ST students to get free access to libraries in Kerala

As part of promoting Literacy and developing reading habits among the members of Scheduled Caste and scheduled tribe communities, the government has decided to give free access and membership for all the students from the community, including those who are enrolled for higher studies, in all the libraries across the state.

The literacy rate of tribals in the state is 74.44%, much lower than the state Average of 93.91 % as per the census 2011, though significantly higher than the national average of 59%.

The novel decision is being implemented in cooperation with thestate library council, which would mean that the students will be given access to all the 8,182 libraries that are affiliated with theKerala state library council. As per the order issued by the government in this regard on Wednesday, the government will launch new libraries in places especially the tribal settlements.

Karnataka has made its own unique contribution to Indian sculptural tradition, said Viranna M Arkasali, former president of Karnataka Shilpakala Academy. He said the state is a pioneer in the world, and credit for this must go to sculptor Jakanachari.

He said Jakanachari was a great artist and sculptor who settled in Kedalu village of Tumkuru and later took shelter under the Hoysalas. Arkasali pressed for research about Jakanachari to bring out several facts about him. The temples carved by Amarashilpi Jakanachari in several villages and towns of Karnataka have earned a place in world HISTORY as they have introduce the history and heritage of Karnataka to the world.

Telangana govt announces Rs 1,540 crore bonanza for Nalgonda

Fulfilling its promises made to Munugode assembly constituency voters during by-poll held last month, the government on Thursday announced Rs 1,540 crore bonanza for the Nalgonda district.

Around Rs 400 crore worth of works would be taken up in the Munugode assembly constituency from the sanctioned amount. The rest of the amount would be spent on roads, Infrastructure improvement, civic works, construction of a hospital and other works.

The government also announced to set up a toy park in Dandumalkapur industrial park which would provide EMPLOYMENT to about 10,000 youths.

Centre has set up 6,500 Eco Clubs in AP, says Union min

The grant-in-aid was provided to promote environmental awareness and mobilize students participation in environment conservation through activities like plantation drives, cleanliness drives, celebration of important environmental days, awareness, and capacity building on solid Waste Management through waste segregation, the minister said.

The NGC programme was implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change under the Central Sector Scheme Environment Education, Awareness and Training (EEAT) since the year 2001-02, the Union minister added.

Under this programme, more than 1 lakh Eco Clubs have been formed in schools and colleges to educate students and to spread awareness on environmental issues, he told the House.

The EEAT scheme has been revamped during the year 2022-23 into Environment Education Programme.

Maharashtra budget to be tabled on March 9

The budget session of theMaharashtra legislaturewill be held from February 27 to March 25. The state budget for 2023-24 will be presented on March 9, a government release said.

This will be the first budget of the Shinde government and will be presented by deputy chief minister and state finance minister Devendra Fadnavis.

On the first day of the session on February 27, the newly-adopted state song ‘Jai JaiMaharashtraMajha’ will be played.
Thirteen bills will be presented during the session.

Panchayat games to start again in Haryana to promote sports culture: CM Khattar

To promote Sports culture in the rural areas, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday announced that sports competitions will be organized at the village, block and district level by the Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad. There will be 12 types of sports in these competitions.

Apart from this, the Chief Minister also announced to set up a medical college in Rasulpur village of Tohana block, Fatehabad district and a Nursing college in Jakhal.

Khattar announced development works worth Rs 580 crore to the residents of Tohana. Out of this, inauguration and foundation stone was laid for projects worth Rs 272 crore. He further announced to establish the Government College, Tohana, outside the city limits, wherever about 15 to 20 acres of land would be available.

Khattar said that Panchayat is the third government and the has given many powers to these local governments. The previous governments did not give power to the panchayats, but our government has given them power to get development works done on their own. The Money belongs to the Panchayats and they can spend it accordingly. They can pass the resolution and get the development work done in their area. If the power or funds has to be increased then as per the demand; it will be taken up he added.
