Tripura CM launches helpline to address citizens’ grievances

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday launched a helpline to receive and fast track addressal of citizens’ grievances. The helpline, which has code number 1905, is a dedicated call center where citizens will be able to call to record their grievances. The helpline will then refer it to the concerned departments through integrated task monitoring system, officials said.The departmental nodal officer will receive citizen’s grievance tasks from the CM helpline and he will take necessary action to address them or transfer it to field level officers for its addressal in a time bound manner, they said.

The citizen grievance redressal through the helpline will be regularly monitored by the chief minister’s office. Deb in his address after the inauguration said the government had earlier launched the Jagaran Tripura app through which citizens can get information about various schemes of the Centre and the state. 193 schemes are on board of this app, he said. Deb said under the CM Yuva Communication scheme, the government gave 7,274 mobile phones to the final year of graduation students in 2020. The number of mobile phones to be given away will increase this year.

Odishas Manda buffalo gets national recognition

Mandabuffalo, who is seen in the hill ranges ofEastern Ghatsand plateau of Koraput region in the state, got registered at the national level. It received accession number INDIA_BUFFALO_1500_MANDA_01019 to become the 19th recognizedbuffalobreed in India.
This buffalo germplasm was first identified by the and animal Resources development (FARD) department in collaboration with theOdishaUniversity of Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture and Technology (OUAT).

After this registration, the state and the Centre will make efforts to conserve this unique buffalo genetic resource of Odisha and enhance their productivity through breeding strategy. The governments will help in Marketing the produce- milk, curd and ghee at a premium price resulting in the improvement of the livelihood of the stakeholders in the native tract.

These sturdy buffaloes are small-sized. People use both male and female buffaloes for ploughing and other agricultural operations in the native tract of Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur districts. “

TN to observe Periyars birth anniversary as Day of Social Justice

Kerala: 1.25 lakh ineligible ration cards given up

As many as 1,25,070ration card holdersin various categories have voluntarily surrendered their cards to the government till July 31, after the government urged them tosurrenderif they do not fall in various eligible categories.
In order to weed out the remaining ineligible card holders, the civil supplies department has launched aWhatsAppnumber by which the public can inform any such information about ineligible card holders.

Till July, out of the 5,85,977Antyodaya Anna Yojana(AAY) cards distributed in the state, 9,935 cards have been surrendered and brought under non-priority non-subsidy (NPNS) category, who are offered rice and wheat at regular, non-subsidised rates.

The state had implemented theNational Food Securities Act, 2013, on November 1, 2016. As per the Act, the state has 4,228 fair-price shops (authorized ration dealers ARD) with 90,86,816 card holders. The total number of beneficiaries under the system is 3,57,42,768 (as per the estimates, each card has 4.2 beneficiaries in the state).

As many as 5,95,800 cards under the AAY are allowed in the state, of which the state has already distributed 5,85,977 cards. The remaining 9,823 cards can be distributed to 41,256 beneficiaries. Also, as per the NFSA, the total number of cards that can be distributed in the priority household category is 1,54,80,040.

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai seeks Rs 4,000 crore for optical fibre network

Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai requested the Centre to grant Rs 4,300 crore for implementation of theKarnataka Optical Fibre Network(KOFN), which aims to provide high-speed Internet connectivity in all government offices, including panchayat ones.

In a memorandum, Bommai said that because of BharatNets limited reach and telecom companies poor presence at the panchayat level, the had been unable to fulfil the connectivity requirements of 25,000 government offices and institutions.

Telangana govt releases Rs 73 crore for handloom weavers

The stategovernmentreleased Rs 73.5 crore on Tuesday for implementation of welfare schemes for handloomweaversand ancillary workers.

The minister said measures wre being taken to ensure that workers get a monthly income of Rs 15,000. At a review meeting with handloom department officials here, the minister said the incomes of handloom and ancillary workers had gone up thanks to governments initiatives.
He also reviewed schemes likeTelanganahandloom weavers thrift fund saving and security, Pavala Vaddi, Chenetha Mitra and cash credit support.

The government is taking up measures to ensure institutional and structural development of the handlooms sector, said the Industries and Textile minister KT Rama Rao.

Despite prohibition talk, top liquor companies keen to return to Andhra Pradesh

Big liquor companies including Ab InBev, United Spirits and United Breweries, which leftAndhra Pradeshafter YSRC government announced phase-wise in 2019, are now looking to make a comeback to the state.

While the primary reason for these companies to shut their operations in AP was alleged non-payment of outstanding dues, they had hastened through the exit process as they did not see any future prospects in view of the proposed phase-wise total prohibition. They are now planning to send their proposals to the State Government to restart their businesses in the state, sources said.

Sources said prohibition is not taking shape on expected lines and liquor turnover has witnessed a multi-fold increase in the last one year, which is the main reason for alcobev companies showing interest in returning to the liquor business in AP. Sources informed attempts are being made by these companies to reach out to the state government through Industry bodies like FICCI and International Spirits and Wines Association of India (ISWAI).

History, geography, language syllabus in Goa may get state-specific focus

As the NationalEducationPolicy (NEP) 2020 has called for an overhaul of the curriculum and a local context in thesyllabus, the state council for educational research and training (SCERT) has framed committees which will review the school syllabi. Based on a national framework to be provided by the Union Education ministry, HISTORY, Geography and language syllabi for school students may undergo revision soon.

NCERT will be giving states a broad framework to work with. As NEP has said that syllabus can have content specific to a state, we have an opportunity now to revise our syllabus to include state-related content whenever required, if found necessary by the committees.

The NEP states that one of the principles it is based on is to bring in a respect for diversity and respect for the local context in all curriculum, pedagogy, and policy. This NEP aims at building a global-best education system rooted in Indian ethos, states the document.

Maharashtra mulls ‘nodal centres’ at smaller cities for IT workers as work-from-home continues

With work-from-Home (WFH) continuing for employees in the information technology sector,Maharashtrais mulling to create ‘nodal centres’ on the lines of co-working spaces in smaller cities and towns, from where Software professionals can work for their respective companies, a minister has said.

The state, which is home to the IT hub in Pune and also has a presence of enterprises in other pockets like Mumbai, Nagpur and Nashik, has invited suggestions from the for an ‘inclusive IT policy’, Minister of State for ITSatej Patilhas said.

A lot of the work done by IT professionals is for critical sectors like finance, where privacy concerns and data confidentiality are important which also forced a few of the professionals to continue working from offices even during the lockdowns.

Patil said the government is trying its best to promote IT in Tier-2 and -3 cities. He appealed to industry lobby groupsNasscomand the Software Export Association Pune (SEAP) to come forward with help on creating district-wise databases suggested by Deshpande.

In a bid to tide over the acute shortage of doctors in the government healthcare sector, the Manohar Lal Khattar Government has chalked out a policy for creation of a specialist cadre for doctors in the state.

A first-of-its-kind policy in Haryana has proposed lucrative pay scales and designations to attract new specialists to join the states Health Department and to retain the specialists already working in the Department.

The draft policy released by the has proposed a strength of 3148 doctors in general cadre and 2090 in specialist cadre in the Health Department. These doctors include medical officers, senior medical officers, civil surgeons, DHS, ADGHS, DGHS, senior consultants, Deputation/PG/Leave Reserve.

Under the policy, the specialists of Hospital Administration. Public Health and Community Medicine would be posted on the administrative side but their seniority or pay structure would be as per the specialist cadre.
